Nestled under the sandstone bluffs that nature carved out of Rocky Hollow, things are quiet, easy going, and perfect for your holiday away from it all. Here lies Big Rock Log Cabin tucked away in the Kentucky mountains yet only minutes away from Natural Bridge State Park, Red River Gorge and the Daniel Boone National Forest. After a day of fishing, hiking, or rock climbing, Big Rock is a wonderful place to come home to. Relax on a large covered porch complete with comfortable lounge chairs and table. Come ready to grill out on the porch at the gas grill and eat out under the trees at a picnic table nestled up in Big Rock Hollow. Big Rock Log Cabin beckons you to slow down, relax, and enjoy the sights and sounds of nature, all in the comfort of a cozy & well furnished log cabin, or lean back in a lounge chair inside Big Rock’s own rock shelter. Big Rock Cabin is fully furnished with new furniture and antiques, creating a cozy, comfortable feeling. All linens, blankets and towels are furnished so all you need to bring are food, drink, and personal items. Central air and heat will keep you comfortable any time of the year. Big Rock Cabin has a bath and a half plus a Jacuzzi. Do you like to cook? We just finished the new galley style kitchen that is fully furnished with refrigerator, electric stove, dish washer, microwave, toaster oven, coffee pot, and all the utensils you need for cooking, eating, and drinking. Don’t want to cook? During the season Big Rock is only 5 minutes away from great pizza, subs, or a full buffet dinner. That’s the nice thing about Big Rock, it’s close to everything, but when you top the ridge and drive down into Rocky Hollow you are suddenly away from it all. Natural Bridge State Park is only 5 minute drive where you can enjoy hiking trails, swimming pool, fishing lake, or dinner in the resort lodge. Five minutes more and you are in the Red River Gorge Geological Area and the Daniel Boone National Forest with it’s forest and mountain trails leading to huge natural stone arches and fantastic views of cliff lined valleys. You can even enjoy the trails with your dog in the National Forest. This is a wonderful, undiscovered part of nature where you will see breath taking views without hoards of people. There isn’t a stop light for 20 miles. Come to the Kentucky Mountains and stay at Big Rock Log Cabin. This is a family cabin and not for parties so no spring breakers please.

About John Glover
John Glover: Originally an archaeologist but for many years I have dealt in antiquarian books and historic documents with my bookstore Glover's Bookery. I live in downtown Lexington, KY but am a nut for the great outdoors, thus Big Rock was born [my life saver]. Anne Glover: electrical engineer, started with IBM and continued on with Lexmark.
John Glover purchased this Cabin in 2005
Why John Glover chose Pine Ridge
Big Rock is only a hour from Lexington yet located in the most beautiful deep woods natural area in Kentucky surrounded by cliffy wilderness. I bought Big Rock specifically because it is a Log cabin (a must), was unfinished (so I could finish the inside like I wanted), is under the cliff (my golden retrievers don't know what a cliff edge is), the property has interesting features (massive block boulders, a rock house, and gorilla rock), and lastly is close to Natural Bridge and Red River Gorge (Natural Bridge State Park shares a back property line with Big Rock). Fell head over heels for it the moment I saw it.
What makes this Cabin unique
New log cabin yet cozy, rustic, and inviting. All wood everywhere, not a drop of paint or sheetrock to be found. Nestled under a 40 foot sandstone cliff with flanked by block boulders the size of a house. Just steps from a huge rock shelter (the rock house) and Gorilla Rock. The cabin is full of unique Folk Art from all over rural American as well as from my travels.

Wonderful, hope you will come again. And you're right, Red River Gorge is fantastic.
Very nice cabin for the gorge or Natural Bridge
Me and my wife stayed at thos cabin. It was very nice, and having the kitchen was great during the week since most of the local restaurants are not open. Firepit is also a very nice area to relax in the evenings. Highly recommend.
A great place to get away from it all.
Another great stay at Big Rock cabin. Always a great time, made even better with the new deck chairs since last visit. Place is quiet and had everything you need. Loved the afternoon visit from a hummingbird. Just beware. The big nut trees around the property do drop nuts when the winds kick up. Had my windshield crack. Will definitely return soon.
Glad to have you back to Big Rock. It is regretful that we had sever weather in the area during your stay. I am especially troubled that your car was damaged during the storms. I might suggest that hail caused the damage as there are no nut bearing trees anywhere near the driveway. We inspected the area today to insure it was clear of any dead wood or other issues that could cause problems,
We hope this mishap will not keep you from coming back and enjoying this special slice of nature called Red River Gorge, KY.
The cabin was true to the pics and very nicely kept … We arrived and it was a hot and humid day and the cabin was cool , which a lot of Owners will not turn on the AC till you arrive but this owner did , BRAVO !!! Roomy , everything worked and access was fine for us … Wish the beds were bigger and the path running up to the picnic table had pea gravel down because it rained the first 3 days and the path was muddy , but the owner never made any false claims on bed size , I just forgot what it was like in a queen bed , we have a King at home and it's a sleep number … We would definitely recommend this cabin and if we ever go back to the area we won't hesitate to rent this cabin again …
It was great to have you at Big Rock. We look forward to having you again should you visit Red River Gorge again. We have been so very wet this year my usually dry and hard pack forest trail has become a little muddy when it rains. I'll take a look at it and see what it needs.
At Big Rock Log Cabin you are surrounded by deep forest, towering cliffs, and you'll have your own large rock house just outside the backdoor of the cabin. The are boasts some of the most beautiful hiking trail east of the Mississippi, most leading to stone formations or natural stone arches. An undiscovered bit of heaven.
