About this property
BIG ROCK LOG CABIN , Beside Natural Bridge/Red River Gorge
Nestled under the sandstone bluffs that nature carved out of Rocky Hollow, things are quiet, easy going, and perfect for your holiday away from it all. Here lies Big Rock Log Cabin tucked away in the Kentucky mountains yet only minutes away from Natural Bridge State Park, Red River Gorge and the Daniel Boone National Forest. After a day of fishing, hiking, or rock climbing, Big Rock is a wonderful place to come home to. Relax on a large covered porch complete with comfortable lounge chairs and table. Come ready to grill out on the porch at the gas grill and eat out under the trees at a picnic table nestled up in Big Rock Hollow. Big Rock Log Cabin beckons you to slow down, relax, and enjoy the sights and sounds of nature, all in the comfort of a cozy & well furnished log cabin, or lean back in a lounge chair inside Big Rock’s own rock shelter. Big Rock Cabin is fully furnished with new furniture and antiques, creating a cozy, comfortable feeling. All linens, blankets and towels are furnished so all you need to bring are food, drink, and personal items. Central air and heat will keep you comfortable any time of the year. Big Rock Cabin has a bath and a half plus a Jacuzzi. Do you like to cook? Cabin has a galley style kitchen that is fully furnished with refrigerator, electric stove, dish washer, microwave, toaster oven, coffee pot, and all the utensils you need for cooking, eating, and drinking. Don’t want to cook? During the season Big Rock is only 5 minutes away from great pizza, subs, or a full buffet dinner. That’s the nice thing about Big Rock, it’s close to everything, but when you top the ridge and drive down into Rocky Hollow you are suddenly away from it all. Natural Bridge State Park is only 5 minute drive where you can enjoy hiking trails, fishing lake, or dinner in the resort lodge. Five minutes more and you are in the Red River Gorge Geological Area and the Daniel Boone National Forest with it’s forest and mountain trails leading to huge natural stone arches and fantastic views of cliff lined valleys. Pets are allowed. You can even enjoy the trails with your dog in the National Forest. This is a wonderful, undiscovered part of nature where you will see breath taking views without hoards of people. There isn’t a stop light for 20 miles. Come to the Kentucky Mountains and stay at Big Rock Log Cabin. This is a family cabin and not for parties so no spring breakers please.

Why they chose this property
Big Rock is only a hour from Lexington yet located in the most beautiful deep woods cliffy wilderness area in Kentucky. I bought Big Rock specifically because it is a Log cabin (a must), was unfinished (so I could finish the inside like I wanted), is under the cliff (my golden retrievers don't know what a cliff edge is), has interesting features on the property (massive block boulders, a rock shelter, and gorilla rock), and lastly is close to Natural Bridge and Red River Gorge (Natural Bridge State Park shares a back property line with Big Rock). Fell head over heels for it the moment I saw it.
What makes this property unique
Log cabin that is cozy, rustic, and inviting. All wood everywhere, not a drop of paint or sheet rock to be found. Nestled under a 40 foot sandstone cliff and flanked by block boulders the size of a house. Just steps from a huge rock shelter (the rock house) and Gorilla Rock. The cabin is full of unique Folk Art from all over rural American as well as from my travels.
