A large space in a secluded spot
We were two families with 9 people total. This cabin worked great for us. We cooked every night in the well equipped kitchen. Played pool. The house was within about an hour of many different activities. We saw feet in the yard every evening. Overall, a great stay! Thanks!
Beautiful & Comfy! Wonderful Family Time!
Such a beautiful home, where we had such a wonderful family time! It’s cozy, comfy, warm and spacious! So much fun and so close to the National park, Skyline Drive the caverns and all the fun and history of the area and that beautiful Virginia offers! We found everything we needed, you have comfy beds and pillows—and you’ve thought of everything to make your guests feel at home! Thank you for a wonderful getaway.
Nice house but the driveway need to be fixed.
Beautiful and nice house. The only problem is the driveway. The house is on the hill and the driveway was not paved and lots of small rocks. The small cars would have hard time to drive up and down. Otherwise, I will give 5 stars.
Would rent again
The house was exactly as advertised. It is in a great central location around Luray, Sperryville, and the park entrance. Lisa and Woody were friendly and responded quickly. The house had everything necessary, accepted for shampoo, which was a bit surprising. Like other reviewers, several members of my group found the instructions/threats posted around the house very offputting. A book of instructions, as found in most other house rentals, would have sufficed.
Attractive home but needs upgrade in kitchen amenities and driveway.
I am trying to be fair about our experience, especially because our stay was affected by the remnants of Hurricane Florence. Getting into the property was difficult due to the large ruts in the driveway and the lack of a covered entryway causing us to get soaked every time we entered or exited the house. The deck was very slippery and needs power washing badly. I imagine on sunny days none of this would be an issue.
The house is quite grand with high ceilings, large bedrooms and a sizable kitchen/dining area. The pool table was a nice addition. The house was very clean and the wifi/tv worked well.
On the negative side, the kitchen needs new pots, pans and dishes. Both frying pans were worn right through their coating. There were only three wine glasses and one was cracked. Tableware was limited and would be inadequate for more than four people.
While the house was advertised as appropriate for 10, there are only two private bedrooms. The remaining sleep beds include a bunk bed, a single bed,and a double bed, all bunched together on the second floor balcony. In my view the place would only be appropriate for two couples with children.
The three decks would be wonderful in good weather. The lack of screens made opening windows impossible at night, unless you enjoy sleeping with flying insects.
Finally, I recommend that the rental agents prepare a guest book with information about the property and remove all the negative signs around the house that threaten liability and financial loss for damage to sinks for dying hair, to floors for muddy footprints or for cost for "partying too hard."
The house is close to Luray and Shenandoah National Park and all the other sites. Nonetheless, I would look elsewhere for a home rental next time.
We're very sorry this guest was disappointed in their stay at our property. Their stay was during the passing of the remnants of the hurricane and prior to the hurricane the area already had received over 3 inches of rain. We are not aware of any rental properties in the area that have a covered driveway. We are sorry for the rain but we are not in a position to control that. The listing and pictures clearly depict the sleeping arrangements with two bedrooms and the rest of the sleeping area in the loft with full descriptions of the beds. This should not have come as a surprise. We have repeatedly
replaced the wine glasses only to find them broken and scattered throughout the home. We do agree some of the pots and pans need replacing and we will see to that immediately. There is definitely enough silverware for more than four people. We thank this guest for their stay and we thank them for leaving our home the way they found it.
Perfect spot for our family
We stayed here with 3 adults and 4 kids, and it was great. The house was very clean and beautiful, and there were enough supplies to keep the house clean during our stay (I have stayed at other houses where you were hard pressed to find a broom to sweep the kitchen floor). The kids loved the loft area. The owners were very responsive to our questions during our stay. Great location- close to the park but also easy to drive to the store if you needed something. Will definitely be recommending this house to friends.
