About Silver Star Stays
Peter Bruckmann and Diana Young are world travelers, who love adventure and action holidays. We fell in love with Silver Star and have lived there each winter, just 4 doors down from our rental condo. What makes Silver Star different is the great ski conditions (especially the champagne powder), no life lines and a large variety of ski terrain for the whole family. The village is small and casual, yet offers everything you would need - a grocery store, a few bars, good restaurants, two coffee shops. The village is just 5 minutes walk, which means you are close to the action, but are in a more peaceful environment. Adventure Town which is just a 3 minute walk from the condo has outdoor skating, tube town, 10-pin bowling, two restaurants and the trailhead for the cross country ski trails.
Silver Star Stays purchased this Apartment in 2001
Why Silver Star Stays chose Silver Star Mountain Resort
What makes people keep coming back is the unique feature of being able to drive right to the door to drop off gear and groceries, etc. No trekking up and down stairs or elevators. Park out front so this driveway, walkway is a safe environment for the kids to play or the dogs to romp. Ski right to your door and store your gear inside - no need to take your stuff to a locker on another floor.
What makes this Apartment unique
Pet Friendly - $33 per pet per day. Maximum 2 pets. This unit has a keyless entry so you can arrive anytime after the 4:00 P.M. Check in time without having to worry about arranging to pick up keys.
Canceled bookings will not receive a refund
Great Views, great value
The property was as advertised, the mountain views was beautiful. The beds we comfortable and there was lots of bedding and extra pillows. The kitchen was well stocked and we were glad to have a BBQ available for the nights we stayed in to cook.
We loved our stay and found the location close to everything. The ski hill does a great job of grooming all of the trails and everything is signed so you always know where you are. We will be back for sure and it was great we could bring our pets along to enjoy it with us.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review, Delores. We really appreciate it. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay at Mountain Legacy and it was close enough to everything for you. The trails and signage are fantastic! We hope to welcome you back to Silver Star again next winter or even this summer. Thank you again, Lindsay and The Team at Silver Star Stays
Suited our needs, pretty basic accommodations, overall 8/10
Very small. Can’t open DW and oven at same time. No space for the garbage and recycling containers, which are just on the floor. No cupboards with space for your food- it all has to stay on the counters. Everything seemed to work and eventually we found everything we needed or improvised. Was surprised at the lack of a ladle (surely we can’t be the only people who like soup in cold weather?)
MAIN BEDROOM 7.5/10
Sparse but functional. Mattress was fine. Linens were unremarkable in either direction.
The green paint is not pleasing to my eyes, but the the bathroom is functional and equipped. Extra towels and soap/shampoo etc are under the sink. Tiling around the tub is starting to show its age. Faucet needed to be turned off *just so* or would still run a trickle.
TV worked fine, there are sofa and button chairs for varied seating. Room around the table or at the kitchen bar for eating. Ample space to accommodate our giant dog crate.
BUNK ROOM no score
Received no complaints from the kids regarding their room, and I spent no time there myself, so I have no opinion.
More hooks in the entry would be nice (2 have broken off, rendering some of the entry bench/hooks area less functional). Genuine hooks rather than those annoying pegs that stuff just slips off of all the time would be a good choice....
The hot water tank/supplies/spare towels closet is kind of a free-for-all...all of the equipment kept wanting to fall over. Some kind of wall-mounted ski holder would be nice. I mean, it is a condo on a ski hill...
Nice proximity to the tubing - a little uphill walk to get there, but a reasonably easy one. Liked the ski-in from Christmas Bowl and across the ski bridge. For ski-out the kids did not enjoy the walk up quite so much, but it’s only a couple of minutes. A bit far from the Village but we didn’t need to go there.
HOT TUB 9/10
The hot tub was a great temperature- nice and hot- and clean. Very nice sitting in it and looking up at the trees.
We were very happy to find a dog-friendly place to stay. This is a distinct plus for us.
On the negative side, this building is slightly noisy. Conversation from other units can be heard in the bathroom, coming in from the vents. You can hear the water running when your neighbour showers, the toilet flush (and other things) when they use the facilities. If these things bother you, this probably isn’t the place for you.
Hello Kristina and thanks for taking the time to post a review. Sorry that there wasn't a soup ladle and it was unfortunate that you didn't let us know as we could have popped one over to you. As you know we maintain an on-mountain 24 hour service to ensure that our guests have a wonderful stay. In our check in info, we do ask to let us know if anything is wrong, so that we can remedy for you rather than hearing about it for the first time in a review.
This condo is one that we get rave reviews on primarily because of the great location - ski in ski out to the door and then guests can keep their skis/boards in the closet rather than having to put in a ski locker on a different floor. This is a favourite condo for dog owners as well because it is easy to just walk out the door to take the dog for a walk, without any stairs.
Regarding your comments about the size of the kitchen and the sparseness of the master bedroom, I'm not sure how to respond. This is a condo (700 square feet) and not a stand alone home. The condo has all new furniture - including a new bed and mattress. The master bedroom has a double mirrored closet with racks for hanging clothes or putting them on the built in shelves. It has two night tables and two lamps.
You are quite right that you can't open the oven and the dishwasher at the same time, but Im not sure why you would need to? We lived full time in this condo for a number of years and loved that it was fully equipped with everything and a quick 5 minute walk to the village. No car required.
As to the colour of the washroom, we have never had a complaint before, but for sure understand that not everyone likes the same colours.
I'm just not sure if you understood that a review is not intended as a "complaint form". The only area you didn't feel was lacking was the bunkroom as per your comment "Received no complaints from the kids regarding their room, and I spent no time there myself, so I have no opinion."
We hope you enjoyed your holiday in spite of your review. At Silver Star Stays we do look after over 70 properties ranging from affordable studios to deluxe 7 bedroom homes If you do wish to return, we would recommend that for your needs, you may want to consider a pet friendly 3 bedroom townhome or vacation house that is more along the size that you prefer.
Thanks again for staying with us and we hope to welcome you back again. Diana and the team at Silver Star Stays
Well equipped and close enough to everything!
This was a well equipped condo. Had all the necessities for our stay! Easy access to skiing and to Nordic as well as skating. The walk to the village was not far! Being able to drive up to the door was great (especially with all our baby gear!). The only challenge was storing 4 sets of adult downhill skis in the locker, but that’s a minor detail. We would definitely stay again! 😊
Thank you so much for your kind review, Courtney. We really appreciate it. We are so glad you enjoyed Summerwind and the location. It's so great that it's close to everything and had all the necessities. We hope to welcome you back again soon! Lindsay and the Team at Silver Star Stays
Excellent family vacation
Our family of four and dog are repeat vacationers. The unit is always clean and well-stocked with essentials. This property has a great view of tube town and the Silver Queen chair, is perfect for ski in/out, has easy access to the village (10 min walk), and skating and tube town are within steps. We will be back to enjoy the magic of Silver Star!
Thank you so much for the fantastic review, Shannon. We really appreciate it and especially your family as great repeat guests. We are so glad you love the condo and it's in the perfect location for you and your family. We hope to welcome you back to Silver Star again soon! Thanks again, Lindsay and the team at Silver Star Stays
Great location, easy access, awesome mountain!
Easy access to the hill and to tube town and the skating rink. Nice condo with all the needed cooking gear and just the right amount of space. Our only small complaint would be the maintenance crew who started shovelling the sidewalks at 630 AM each morning. It was really loud and early! Thanks.
Silver Star Mountain is B.C.'s most easily accessible mountain. Only a 25 minute drive from the City of Vernon. Great mountain in both the winter and the summer. Winter features ski/snowboarding, snowshoes, cross country skiing, tubing, skating, bowling and a great village atmosphere for apres ski. Summer months offer mountain biking, cross country biking, hiking, bowling, geo caching, disc golf and a friendly village atmosphere.
