Private Studio Apartment Near Beach & Dunedin
Quaint and quiet the 'Hideout' sits towards the back of the property and has a private patio, tiled bathroom and separate kitchen. Plenty of onsite parking. 4-1/2 miles to Clearwater beach and 1 miles to delightful downtown Dunedin.
The hideout is very private and has a cute, covered patio that most of the year is draped with passion vines and flowers. It sleeps two-three. The 3rd being a child. You can squeeze in a small cot but it will be cramped with 3 adults.
The kitchen is nicely stocked with serving ware, pots, pans, dishes & paper towels and basic seasonings.
Many sitting areas in the garden. Laundry room ($3 a load). I have games, dvds, free weights, yoga mats etc that you can borrow.
Gas grill and fire pit area.
Interaction with guests
I live nearby and I am happy to give recommendations on where to go and how to get there. But I respect your privacy and do not intrude on your vacation.
You're in the middle of the city but you feel like you're out in the country.
You can use the bus system for local excursions but getting to tampa by bus is not a good idea. Try the jolly trolley $4.50 for an all day pass!
Pinellas bike trail minutes away!
The Hideout is surrounded by organic, permaculture style gardens. I often have chickens on the property and there is a bunny named Oreo (who pretty much runs the place) that will visit your patio looking for handouts. Feel free to use the sitting areas in the garden and move the chairs around if needed.
Casual & fun atmosphere. Earth first---we recycle, compost, upcycle, rain water harvesting and ongoing soil restoration projects
Free bike rentals--first come first serve!
Clearwater Beach- Awesome, city beach with all the fixings. Voted number 1 favorite beach in the country.
Restaurants, bars, shopping and 3 miles of pure, white, sandy beaches. Pier 60 sunset festival 7 days a week 4-8 pm. Free movies on the beach fri & sat nights. 4.7 miles -drive, bike or take the bus.
Honeymoon island state park beach-voted top 10 beach in the country. Nature lovers will find osprey nests, a wide variety of shorebirds, and one of the few remaining virgin slash pine forests in south florida. The park boasts several nature trails and bird observation areas. Visitors can swim, fish, and snorkel in the warm waters of the gulf or picnic while they enjoy the beautiful scenery. Shelling is particularly good here, as the gulf currents deposit an incredible variety of seashells on the shore. Showers are available and the park´s concession has a gift shop and snack bar. 7.3 miles-drive, bike or take the bus.
Caladesi island-it is one of the few completely natural islands along florida´s gulf coast, caladesi´s white sand beaches were rated america's best beach in 2008. Beach lovers can enjoy swimming, sunbathing and beachcombing. Saltwater anglers can cast a line from their boats or surf fish. Nature enthusiasts can spot wildlife while hiking the three mile nature trail through the island´s interior or paddling a three mile kayak trail through the mangroves and bay. Picnic tables and shelters are located near the beach. Take the ferry from honeymoon island.
Other fun stuff-
Delightful downtown Dunedin-quaint, funky, trendy vibe. (20 minute walk) pubs, cafes, shopping & local art. Have dinner at one of the restaurants (you won't find any chain restaurants here and all of them are great. Then party all night at the blur night club or have martini's at the chic-a-boom room. Wander on home then go back in the morning for the Saturday morning market or Kelly's amazing Sunday brunch, take a walk on the trail or shop for unique art, wine, fashion or chocolates--there is always something happening here!

About Vicki Conrad
Hi, welcome to Florida! I'm as low key and easy going as it gets. I love nature and have a big garden filled with magical things. I also enjoy kayaking, art, books, theater, crafts and of course having fun with my family and friends. My favorite vacation was a road trip out west with my camper and my dog. It lasted three months and I hiked all over Colorado, Utah and New Mexico. What scenery! Being an host has been an amazing experience. I've enjoyed meeting so many wonderful people.
Vicki Conrad purchased this Apartment in 2011

Quirky and Eclectic!
Quirky, eclectic and very homey. Hosts were very helpful. Loved exploring the gardens and it was so easy to get to after the Sea Blues Festival. Great location for our needs.
Had breakfast at Benedict’s yummy!
Ok, but just ok....
Good news: our hosts are present on the property and available for any questions or concerns. Since we were there for two weeks, we had a cleaning after the second week with fresh sheets. A real treat! The location is good; close to Dunedin
Bad news: I guess the property could be called shabby chic. The window airconditioner was noisy; we were infested by blow flies the second week; we killed at least 4 of them; we did not call Landlord as we didn't want to breathe in insecticide. You get what you pay for in high season....
Hi sorry you didn't enjoy our place I wish you had told us about the flies. We are organic.
Our exterminator uses borax. It's totally safe and has no odor.
Not what I expected
This was described as a cottage of which there a few on this property. The property and the gardens were as shown in photos - I did love that. Our small cottage was lovely and extremely clean! The part unknown and not told was that part of this property is rented to transients as a hostel environment. That is fine, I have stayed at hostels in my younger days. For a more mature couple or person who will or may spend evenings in the garden yard, this is not for you. The displaced young hostel people were not rude, very nice in fact, but the environment is not what I expected. I will leave the rest to your imagination so as to not be rude. I am very open minded person, and just advise that you be careful as to who you wish to be confronted with. My main concern is that it was not described as a transient hostel environment.
Quaint ,quite,and friendly
Very friendly people..just outside of town ..only minuets from everything...
The place was very clean, very comfortable. The owner was just a phone call away and always answered and was super nice. My wife, daughter and I loved it. We recommend it to anyone who wants to stay in a home away from home.
I have 6 guest houses on this property in 3 separate building. All are centered around an organic, mostly edible garden. There are lots of sitting areas and everyone has there own patio. Clearwater Beach is a great city beach and Honeymoon Island is an awesome natural beach. Downtown Dunedin is a must see! Tarpon Springs sponge docks is fun too.

There is an additional cleaning fee for guests staying over 21 days. It's $200. This includes weekly cleaning by my staff. This is not negotiable. Florida has an unusual climate and older houses need to be cleaned and maintained thoroughly.
