We would stay there again!

Very clean, a nice swimming pool, a short distance to walk to the ocean and the owner Debra takes great pride in her property and helping the guests have a good experience.On the porch she has a shower and faucet to wash the sand off which is a very good idea. We loved the layout of the house. The only negative is are a few noisy motor cycles that go by.

Pura Vida

We stayed here for 3 weeks during February. My favorite things: motmots and iguanas at the pool, (pool was our private oasis the whole stay), taking the bus to Playa Carrillo (my favorite pristine beach for swimming), easy walk along Samara beach to town for dinners or Saturday farmer’s market, encountering Howler Monkeys along the way. Husband LOVED the local fish market. We really appreciated the fast internet and reliable A/C. Deb was a great host- she was very hospitable and responsive.

A Haven in Costa Rica

I need to start by thanking Deborah and her partner for being so gracious, responsive and thoughtful about what most travelers would need to enjoy Samara. My airport transfer was pre-arranged. The loft-style apartment is beautifully decorated and fully furnished with every amenity. The salt water pool was a little oasis steps from the front door. I truly appreciated the accuracy of the listing and the amount of detail included. All-in-all, a perfect vacation home within walking distance to everything.

Amazing stay

This property is beautiful. The apartment was clean, had all of the appliances that I could need during my stay. The host checked in with me to make sure I made it in okay. The private pool area was very nice. It was more like staying at a friends home, than renting an apartment from someone. I highly recommend this stay

Excellent Value

This property is a duplex above the office of Wingnuts canopy tours. We stayed in #2. The apartment was lovely and as described. The pool was in its own spot across the driveway. We had it all to ourselves as the other apartment was unoccupied. Other visitors have commented about the noise of the busy road and they are correct, however nothing that ear plugs could not handle. The apartment is equipped with most everything except a hair dryer (which I found to be liberating) and good beach chairs which would have made our trips to other beaches in the area much more enjoyable, but definitely not a deal breaker. This property is about a 15 min walk to town on a very beautiful beach or a $4 taxi ride. If you have a car even better. All in all this is a lovely property at a good price.

Beautiful apartment on very noisy street

Deborah was extremely communicative and gracious host. Unfortunately we left after one night due to the road noise, and intermittent electricity/AC. The apartment is beautiful, spacious, close walk to beach and town. It is on a very busy road with two bus stops right in front and traffic at all hours of day and night. Be prepared for street noise.

Incredible Experience!

Absolutely incredible all-around. Deborah and Peter are excellent hosts and live one minute down the road, should you need them. We never had any issues, but it was comforting knowing they were close by, in case we did. They were happy to answer any questions and were always easy to get ahold of via call or text. They are professional, cheerful, welcoming, fun, and kind. Great people make any stay much more enjoyable! The apartment is stunning, has a fully-stocked kitchen, powerful AC unit, fast WiFi, hot water, washer and dryer, and is extremely spacious. It feels like a house! The on-site pool area is so beautiful, tranquil, well-maintained, private, and even has its own high-speed WiFi! The pool is always perfectly clean and is the perfect size with varying depths - perfect for any age. The beach is just a 3-minute walk from the front door and is also gorgeous! From the property, you walk down a short dirt road and are all of a sudden on the beach, which spans miles. Once you hit the beach from the dirt road, take a right if you want to head toward the beachside restaurants or go into town. Take a left if you want to head toward a much more secluded, private-feeling part of the beach. You can’t go wrong either way! The center of town in only a 10-15 minute walk down the beach or a 5-7 minute bike ride. A huge perk of the property's location is that you do NOT need a car. Everything is walking/biking distance, plus you get to enjoy a nice walk/bike ride on the beach every time you want to go into town. I could go on and on, but I’ll end by saying that we HIGHLY recommend this outstanding apartment and all it has to offer. Whether you’re here for a short vacation or a long-term stay, you will love every minute of it. Thanks again for sharing your slice of paradise with us, Deborah and Peter! We would be honored to stay again!

All the Comforts of Home - But Better (No Snow)

The unit is absolutely beautiful as shown in the photos. It is beautifully decorated and the kitchen has every appliance you need. It is literally a 2 min walk to lovely Samara beach. Walking along the beach to the town is relaxing and in town there are lots of restaurants to enjoy and mercados in which to shop. The pool is gorgeous, really perfect. If not for the road noise which can be loud from 6 am until evening and lumpy pillows, I would have given Deborahs place 6 stars. Deborah was very responsive and great to deal with. We hope to return .

Great stay at Deborah's place. The apartment is spacious, comfortable and well kept. It is about a 12-15 minute walk to town on the beach. I was usually able to get a taxi home at night. Deborah was a great host. Samara is a really wonderful area to explore.

fantastic!

The apartment was clean and perfect for the two of us. The kitchen was fully equipped to cook anything you needed. Two full baths with ample towels and linens. It was great to sit on the balcony in the morning with a cup of coffee and read! This is a small property with only one other apartment so the WONDERFUL pool area is very private. Owner was very helpful! Also less than a two minute walk to the beach. Excellent Wifi if needed for work. Oh and once you get to the beach it is a short walk to downtown for breakfast, lunch, dinner or drinks. etc.

Ideal Refuge in Samara

My boyfriend and I stayed for 2 weeks in Deborah's apartment in Samara. After traveling a lot of Costa Rica the 3 weeks prior, it was a perfect refuge to close out our trip! We cooked every day, spent a ton of downtime in the house (the wifi worked perfectly for remote working), enjoyed the daybed by the window. The house stayed cool during the hot days and it was a 3 minute walk to the beach - perfect for morning runs or yoga on the sand. As in most places in Costa Rica, especially because the weather changed / rain came, you'll find ants coming into the apartment. Deborah provided bug spray and support - so it wasn't a big deal. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Amazing 5 days!

The location is ideal! 2 minute walk to the beach. 90 second walk to the store, beer and snacks. 10-12 minute walk on the beach for restaurants and shopping. 3 minute drive to the town. There are two units that share a wall. I blasted my music to see if the neighbors could hear it, they couldn't. They are very well stocked for cooking. There is a full bathroom with a tub on the first floor. The couch and window seat make excellent beds. There is also a full size washer and dryer on the 1st floor. The 2nd flood has a very comfortable queen bed, a 3/4 bathroom, and two decks. One with an excellent view on the ocean. The pool and sitting area is a mere 30 feet from the bottom of the stairs. A great way to end the day, or an after dinner/late night swim. This property is on a what can be a busy road, and can be noisy at times. The busiest time are from 0700 to around 1900 or so. For me that wasn't a problem as I did not come to Samara to sit inside all day. Yes there are dogs, and roosters, and they make noise. That's what they do. But the sound of the waves at night put me to sleep every night. There are also very friendly and nice locals. You're in a neighborhood, not a hotel district. If you want a cookie cutter vacation, do not stay here. Staying here you will experience the "Pure Vida" . Deborah was extremely helpful. She is a phone call, and 5 minutes away if you need her. You couldn't ask for a better host. I called her once, to turn the keys in and thank her for a wonderful stay. Another experience you might have are the Holwer Monkeys. She said they were loud. How loud can a little monkey be. I heard them 2 nights, once for about 5 minutes. and a gain 2 nights later for about 8 minutes. The 1st time I head them, I thought a Sasquatch was in my room! It scared the stew out of me. Once I changed the sheets, just kidding, I got a drink of water, and was soon put to sleep by the sounds of the waves. I can't promise you that you'll hear them, but that's part of staying in a neighborhood. Overall, this was one of the best places I've stayed in a long time. I will definitely stay here again. The beaches are fantastic. Carrillo Beach is about a 10 minute drive, and will not disappoint. As I said, there is some road noise, but I spent my time checking out dolphins, and surfing in the tree tops. Wingnuts which is below can arrange both for you. Perfect stay in beautiful apartment!

We loved staying in Deborah’s apartment for 3 days. It’s very spacious, beautifully setup and perfect for us while we were working remotely in Costa Rica. Home away home

The owner was very helpful while we were trying to find a good place to stay as a family. She was very flexible to accommodate us and her house is at the perfect spot for all of Samara attractions. It is walking distance to the downtown and to the beautiful Samara beach.

An identical alternative

I had seen apartment 2 advertised, when I requested to book Deborah told me it was being redecorated but I could have apartment 1 which was identical. It was, a super apartment that felt like home. It’s a couple of minutes walk to the beach and 10 minutes walk to town. I really liked the fact that it is airy and with the ceiling fans and mosquito guarded when Brownsville did not need the AC. Not a negative for me, but prepared to wake up early - the dawn brings an exotic bird chorus, the chickens next door kick off and it is quite a busy road. Would not hesitate to book again

Elegant Apartment, Perfect Location

Hope to stay here again! This airy, well-decorated apartment is just a short walk from the most private end of the beach. The cozy oceanfront restaurants and bars of Samara are nearby. Mornings we watched monkeys forage for their breakfast as we had our coffee. The upstairs bedroom gets warm during the day but we slept well at night, thanks to the ac and extra wind-tunnel fan. It was just a perfect stay in every respect.

Wonderful vacation in Samara.

We couldn't have asked for a better property and owner! The apartment had everything we needed including great architecture, a full kitchen, a laundry room and two bathrooms. It was a short walk to the beach and a 10 minute walk along the beach to town. Other reviewers mentioned the roosters, dogs and traffic noise waking them up so we were prepared with earplugs. Didn't need them...enjoyed waking up to a roosters crow. One of our favorite things was the beautiful pool and surrounding area. What a great way to cool off and relax at the end of the day. The other was the owners who couldn't do enough to make our stay special. Thank you, Deborah and Peter! We left Samara with wonderful vacation memories and new friends.

A Well-Built and Maintained Property!

We had a particularly lovely one-month stay at Mardelindo Apts. The attractive and spacious unit is solidly-constructed and beautifully designed, with many ammenities that certainly cannot be taken for granted in Costa Rica. We made good use of the outdoor shower, washer and dryer, large kitchen, gas grill, and uniquely private and pretty pool/rancho area. We enjoyed each morning rocking in the chairs on the balcony off our bedroom and sipping our coffee, while with ocean sights and sounds in the background, we watched and listened to the people and wildlife (birds, squirrels, monkeys) of Matapalo begin their day. Then off to the beach, a short walk down a dirt road, for a few refreshing morning swims and a walk. Mardelindo's proximity to the local market, pescaderia, and Samara town is excellent; we much enjoyed the 20-minute walk on the beach into town - by day, we cooled off by popping into the water on the way; by early evening, we enjoyed the beautiful views of the sky over the ocean as we strolled while the sun set. It must be noted that Deborah, the owner, responded immediately to a problem with the refrigerator, and it was corrected in a timely manner. We greatly appreciate both her and Peter's efforts throughout our stay. We hope to return!

Samara Costa Rica New Years 2020

We spent 7 wonderful days in this beautiful condo. Everything about the condo was exactly as advertised. Clean, well maintained, completed stocked with all the dishes, appliances, etc. including two beach chairs and a styrofoam cooler. The pool area was gorgeous and was definitely a highlight where we spent a couple of afternoons enjoying the sun, water, peace and privacy. We had a chance to meet Deborah the owner and enjoyed our time with her and her stories about Costa Rica. We chatted several times on the phone and everything went very smoothly. Would we go to Samara again, yes absolutely and this would be the place we would come back to over and over again. Pure Vida.

Beautiful Apartment

Perfect apartment for two. short walk of 10 minutes along the beach into Samara during the day and cheap taxi ride (1000 colones) at night. Also a close drive to the best beach in Costa Rica, Playa Carrillo is only 5 minutes away. The apartment was clean and comfortable, and well stocked to prepare your own meals. As other reviews have mentioned, it is close to the rode, so bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper. The pool and pool area was amazing. Perfect for cooling off after a day of exploring. And it was a salt water pool as an added bonus. The owner lives close by, and owns a business below the apartment, so if She wasn't around, her friendly staff was able to help if we had any problems (we didn't), or to offer advice or directions if we had any questions. We would stay here again, and highly recommend this rental unit to others

Samara Costa Rica Get Away: August 2019

The proximity of the property to Samara beach and the town center and the amenities offered with property were primary considerations for selecting this property. With a month-long stay planned, we did not want to rent a car for an extended duration, and we wanted to prepare most of our meals on premises. Although we rented a car from a local car rental service to explore adjacent beaches and beach towns, we found that the apartment was a perfect base for getting to and from the town center on foot. We viewed walking to town as part of our daily exercise routine. The apartment is tastefully decorated and comfortable. The apartment amenities were as advertised and in good working order and served well for achieving our objective of preparing meals on premises. The gas grill and washer and dryer are definite pluses. The private swimming pool setting is resplendent with native plants and pleasing tile work. The owner is friendly, helpful and responsive. All-in, we were extremely pleased with our choice of this property for our extended stay in Samara, and we plan to return for another extended stay.

Fantastic condo!

We recently spent two weeks at one of Deborah's two condos and have plans to stay again. The condo has everything you need and is beautiful. The washer & dryer came in very handy, and the kitchen is well equipped. On our first day, we did have an issue with Wi-Fi but Deborah took care of it immediately. We LOVED the salt water pool, and probably spent more time there than the ocean which was just across the street! We also liked having a small bar/restaurant onsite. They would even deliver drinks and food to the pool! We saw more monkeys in the trees at the condo than we did on a jungle excursion. Samara is such a cool little town with a fabulous beach. Met so many people from all over the world. We will definitely be booking the condo again!

My husband and I moved to Costa Rica from British Columbia, Canada in 1982. We fell in love with this area of Guanacaste, bought our farm and settled here. In the following years we raised our family of four children and developed a canopy (zipline) tour on our farm. Widowed in 2006, my children and I are dedicated to conserving the dry tropical forest on our lands, sharing the local wonders with tourists from around the world, and as of 2011, offering convenient and comfortable accomodation for travellers.

Why they chose this property

In 1982 Samara was fairly isolated but with pristine local beaches... Carrillo, Samara, Camaronal, Buena Vista. Lush and filled with wildlife, there was also enough community here to offer an interesting local school option for our very young children.
Nowadays Samara has all the conveniences of good roads, modern telecommunications, shopping options and a core community of Costa Ricans whose way of life still embodies 'pura vida', i.e. connectedness to the surrounding natural beauty and a 'laid-back' lifestyle. Samara Beach is world-renowned for its safety as a swimming beach. Our community offers a popular local language school, massage school, yoga classes, surf schools, a spa, as well as all ocean-related activities including seasonal whale and dolphin-watching.
