About George Stanley
I am retired. I enjoy my two cats, Olly and Geo. I retired from the Community College System and enjoy meeting people, thus the rental. I enjoy traveling and finding neat places. I hope I have created one here.
George Stanley purchased this Apartment in 2007
Why George Stanley chose Limestone
I had a half -finished basement when I purchased the home, which I separated from the house upstairs. I envisioned a downstairs cabin so others could enjoy the beautiful mountains as I do.
What makes this Apartment unique
Living on a rural mountain and bordering the Biltmore Estate Property, there is an abundance of wildlife - turkey, deer, pheasants, bear, raccoons, generally all sorts of wildlife. I have pictures of bear in the yard and in close-by trees. At an elevation of 3,346 feet, the cabin overlooks a huge valley. The valley is often filled with fog, creating a beautiful sunrise at eye-level.

Beautiful, clean, rustic mountain cabin
This cabin has it all! Spacious, well equipped, and fantastic views. It was peaceful and just what we needed for a few days of retreat. The owner George was friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again.
George was very welcoming, the "cabin" was small but exactly as expected, we saw some bears, wild turkeys and George welcomed us. Overall our 3 day stay was spectacular.
Awesome Value-as good as it looks!
If you are looking to stay on top of a mountain with a lovely view, this place is fantastic!
It's a fantastic value and I would totally stay here again. The price was very reasonable, and George does not nickel-and-dime you with a bunch of random fees in addition to the price per night. George is very friendly and respectful of his guests. He made us feel welcome upon arrival, and we then had total privacy for the rest of the week that we spent here. The views of the mountains are stunning! The kitchen is nice and quite functional (although if you're a knife snob, you might want to bring your own since the ones there need sharpening). Several pots/pans/baking sheets/plates/glasses/bowls/silverware, all in good shape and various sizes are available. A small up-right fridge/freezer (probably 10-20 cu ft) and dorm-sized stove/oven (4-burner) are both new. The king-sized bed was comfy. While there was no central heat in the apartment, that wasn't a problem (and I'm a native Floridian that HATES being cold, and it snowed/was in the 20's while we stayed here). There's a gas fire place that heats up the entire kitchen/living room area very quickly. There's a space heater in the bedroom (although the fan is stuck on high, so it's a bit loud). There's also a heat lamp in the bathroom, which if you turn on a little before you take a shower, makes getting out of the shower comfy. Also, this is literally on the top of a mountain, but my 4-cylinder toyota corolla did not have any problems getting up here (it was just only able to go about 20 mph max, but no issues with strain/over-heating, which I've those issues with a prior 4-cylinder). Great place to stay!
Lovely Cottage with Magnificent Mountaintop Vistas!
My husband and I wanted to get away from the dreary Northern Indiana winter for a low keyed respite. After reading the reviews we couldn't wait to head south to experience the Stanley Cabin. The cabin was everything we hoped for and then some! You really can't describe the wonderment of the views that you can see from anywhere on the property. The views are only one part of the experience. The cabin is cozy and perfectly set up for a couple retreat. Traveling up the mountain the first time may be a little heart thumping if you're not used to it, but so well worth it! The cabin is so close to everything you may need yet feels so remote. The host, George, is really the greatest part of the experience. He was so helpful, especially when we had snow overnight. Cleared off the road for us and did a test drive when he thought it would be clear for us to head out. He even brought some lunch to us! George is a great source of information about the area. We highly recommend a visit here and hope to return again! P.S What happens at the cabin stays at the cabin. Lol
Wonderful Mountain Escape!
The Stanley Cabin was great! Perfectly located off 40 between Asheville, Chimney Rock, and the blue ridge parkway. Your literally in a cabin overlooking a beautiful view. The owner George was a wonderful host. Very knowledgeable about the area. We are already booked to go back in the fall. My wife and I along with our two dogs Lexie and Maggie would highly recommend.
Cozy & accommodating
Perfect getaway with my husband and two small dogs. Usually we don’t stay in an attached unit because our dogs are old and we like our privacy, but glad we made an exception for a long weekend getaway. The unit had everything we needed & it was a 15-
20 minute drive to everything. You’ll want to skip this place if you are uncomfortable on narrow, winding roads & I wouldn’t recommend driving a car. Also, it’s similar to apartment living, in that you can hear walking above you, but nothing obnoxious. George, the owner, was very hospitable without encroaching on our vacation time. We definitely hope to return.
