About the property

3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, Well Equipped Kitchen, Washer/dryer, Deck W/grill, Linens

Whitetail cabin is hidden in the woods with all of the comforts of home in the heart of nature and just minutes from the sea. The home is located at the end of a private road, surrounded by a beautiful wooded forest, filled with an abundance of wildlife. If you are looking for your own private piece of the island to enjoy, you will love it. To me, getting away from the crowds is crucial to decompress and really enjoy life, at this location that is possible. The location is private while still being only about 5 minutes from Acadia National Park and about 10 minutes from down town Bar Harbor, perfect! If you would like to really enjoy the raw beauty of the island with a cozy, comfy home to retreat to after a long day of adventuring, this is the spot for you, your family and friends.

Our favorite place to be

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay at this house. It was absolutely perfect. It was clean, incredibly comfortable and lovely. We enjoyed many hikes, wildlife, meals and wonderful experiences in Bar Harbor. It was wonderful to come back to this home during the day for a break and to get a nice sleep feeling the fresh Maine breeze through the open windows. If you want your own space with all the necessities this is the location for you. You won't be disappointed. :)

Beautiful/Peaceful

  • 5 of 5

From the moment we drove up the driveway, we felt like we were coming home. LOVED this cabin/house. We were able to use the mud room downstairs for storage which allowed us to keep the house clean during our stay. I sat on the back deck with my coffee our first morning and just marveled at the flowers and the birds who were attacking the bird feeder. Our boys loved the bird watching so much, even though there was a field guide to the birds provided by the owner, we bought them one in town since they wanted to keep up with their new hobby when they left. The whole place was clean and well equipped with everything we needed. We brought up our own fans but found that Marsha had plenty around the house. The beds were comfy (and I'm very picky!) but I would have liked a bigger bed in the master (again, just being picky). Although we have been to Acadia every year for the past 30, we were appreciative of the information packet that Marsha left on the kitchen counter of places to go, things to see, etc. We already want to make a reservation for next year and this time we want to stay much longer.

The perfect place for your Acadia experience!

  • 5 of 5

Whitetail Cabin is wonderful! It is within a few minutes drive of Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor, but is secluded enough that you feel much more off the grid. I have rented many times from HomeAway and have never been disappointed. Whitetail is my best experience thus far. It is a lovely home! It is well stocked and very comfortable, and Marsha is very easy to work with. I hope to have the opportunity to visit again!

Wonderful !

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from a week in Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor with our family of 4. This cottage was a wonderful place to come home to every evening after hiking and biking in ANP. It is very secluded and quiet at the end of a private road. The kitchen was incredibly well stocked and had everything you would need to make meals. The deck and grill were very nice. Beds were comfortable and bedrooms spacious. The cottage is about a 15 minute drive to Bar Harbor and about 15-20 Minutes to the national park. Marsha was a wonderful hostess she answered all my questions and was there to help when we had car trouble. There is no AC but we didn't miss it even in August. The nights were cool and there are many windows.

All and all this is a lovely place and I would recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

Wonderful peaceful private cabin!

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying at this perfect private cabin tucked in the woods yet conveniently located on Mount Desert Island. Marsha was our host and made the reservations easy and pleasant. Besides completely enjoying beautiful Acadia- hiking, biking and eating lots of Lobsta we enjoyed being together as a family in our peaceful cabin -playing family games on the spacious dining table and cooking meals in the well equipped kitchen as well as eating them on the porch! One of our favorite activities was watching the squirrels and chipmunks hilariously invade the bird feeder. We even had a surprise visit from a beautiful owl (possibly a barred) taking advantage of the chipmunk and squirrel folly. However much to my sons relief he came away empty handed! We would 100% recommend this cabin and would 100% stay again. - The Warrens
