Fresh two bedroom apartment, close to Park Arikok & donkey farm.

Fresh apartment, high ceilings, hot water in shower and kitchen, TV, microwave, coffee maker, 4-burner stove and large fridge. Very quiet location to relax after a day at the beach. Oranjestad is close by, Mangel Halto a 5 minute drive away. Large garden with flowering plants, saltwater swimming pool, sunbeds, hammocks and nice seats under the palapas. The whole site is walled, well lit at night with a private (free) parking space. Dutch host at the accommodation.

Our stay

We loved our stay here. It’s away from all the busy tourist areas in a more of a quiet neighborhood but only a short car ride away if you want to go into the city or anywhere else on the island. Apartment was very spacious and clean. Kitchen was well equipped. Our host Janet was wonderful. Very responsive to any questions we had and full of suggestions on where to go. Loved her energy! We would definitely stay here again.

Kicked-back stay near the Donkey Sanctuary

My friend and I rented an apartment from Janet & Alout for 2 weeks. The kitchen was well-equipped for cooking all of our meals, the bathroom was newly renovated (but not much space to store bathroom items), the beds comfy, and the apartment had a nice front porch to hang out on and catch the breeze. My friend was disliked that the air conditioning in the bedrooms could only be used as night, which made the apt very warm, but we were out exploring most of the day anyway and you can always sit outside in the shade or jump in the small pool to keep cool. The hosts were lovely and very responsive and have a very large but sweet dog, Ellie which roams about. I really enjoyed meeting and interacting with the other folks staying there - they were longer term guests doing interesting research around the island. There are 6 apts in the one story building we were staying in, and a few more on the property. It was very quiet, with pretty landscaping and palapas with lounge chairs for relaxing outside. From here you can also walk to the Spanish Lagoon where there are many birds, egrets, burrowing owls, and other critters. You can also follow a longer trail that takes you to the ocean. If you’re looking for a luxury place I wouldn’t suggest staying here, but if you’re like me and enjoy staying out of the tourist areas, in more of a local neighborhood, and interacting with other interesting travellers, this may be the place for you. I’d definitely stay here again!
