Alaskan Trailside With Views

Nice apartment. Trailside. Separate entry/parking. Great views - watch the auroras. Quiet & secluded yet close to town. A good to place to relax after a hard day's play! Safe place for children and pets to play. Backs to a park. The Alaska dream!

The apartment is in a very nice neighborhood of Anchorage - Stuckagain Heights. Houses are spread out (1 acre lots) and the area is treed. It has 360 degree views of the inlet, Denali, city lights and mountains. You can see Denali from the upper deck; this is where the photo of Denali Peak was taken.

To reach the property, turn off Tudor (a main artery) onto Campbell Strip Rd by the Botanical Gardens, and travel 4 miles through the forested Far West Bicentennial Park to the secluded neighborhood. There are no cross roads - only trailheads. It is a beautiful drive - yet still in Anchorage! Easy access to all Anchorage, and Alaska has to offer!

The apartment is 1350 square feet, with two rooms. The bedroom has a king size bed, tv, dressers, desk, night stands and large closet. The large 'great room' has a desk, full kitchen with breakfast bar, filtered water/ice from the full side by side refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, stove and pantry. The kitchen has everything needed for cooking (e.g., pots, pans, bake ware, coffee pot, silverware, dishes, blender, mixer, crockpot, etc.). There is kitchen table, couch, loveseat, chair, queen size sofa sleeper, desk, large tv, breakfast bar stools and fireplace. An additional full-size bed can be added, if needed. There is a full-sized washer & dryer and 3/4 bathroom (shower). Dish tv and internet is provided. There is also a large walk-in closet off the living room. All linens are included as are shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body soap, lotion, laundry soap, dryer sheets, and dishwasher/dishwashing soap.

The guests have their own patio with patio furniture and gas grill, and access to the back yard - hike, cross country ski and ride bikes from the property. There are many trailheads along the road and the military lands are available to hike on, however a pass is needed. These trails do not get the use other Anchorage trails do - most of the times you will not see anyone else.

Please remember that there are bear, moose, lynx and other wildlife in the area.

Great neighborhood, saw moose several times as well as a bear! It was nice to have laundry and the gas fireplace was a plus! Very clean and roomy! It was an awesome place to call our base amp for a month!

This Anchorage VRBO was absolutely amazing! The views are breathtaking, with nature right at your doorstep and incredible hiking nearby. One morning, I even had the unforgettable experience of seeing a young bear trot alongside my vehicle on my commute—truly a once-in-a-lifetime moment. The downstairs apartment was spotless, comfortable, and stocked with everything you could possibly need… and then some. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for the perfect Alaskan getaway!

Quiet but convenient

It was easy to get to and from the house from everywhere we wanted to visit, was located in a quiet neighborhood, snd had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable.

Family of 4 (two adults and two tweens) coming to Alaska for a sight-seeing tour. This location was a great home base for our time there. We saw Moose and other wildlife just driving to the location. It was close to all the areas we wanted to visit. The check in process was easy and the host was very accommodating to our late check-in / arrival. They made up the bed and had extra bedding out for us. We visited with the host and they shared a lot of information that was very helpful for our experience. We cooked a lot of our meals and enjoyed the comfortable open space and beds. Kids loved having the extra bed and couch pull out to sleep on. We would stay here again. It was a great experience.

Out away from city

Our first visit to Alaska. We enjoyed where we stayed as it fit our lifestyle. Out away from the city we saw moose 3 different times just driving to/from our our place. Plenty of nice hiking areas nearby and easy access driving north to Denali or south to Whittier and Seward. Had a very good time.

Spacious Apartment!

This 1 bedroom apartment was MUCH bigger than we thought it would be! The kitchen has everything you need to prepare and serve meals, the large common room is perfect for reading, watching TV or playing games - and the fireplace does a nice job of both heating the area and providing a cozy atmosphere. The bedroom is huge and the bed is very comfortable. We also appreciated having a washer/dryer available in the unit. This is a basement apartment, with the owners living above. It has a completely separate entrance. In the small, fenced yard, there is a little patio with seating and a gas grill. Communication with the owners was excellent.

Authentic Alaskan Experience

My husband and I thoroughly loved the roominess, all the little details of home were available and plentiful. The Host Ronni was great and she's on site. The location is not for everyone (a little off the beaten path) but not that far out from amenties. The views from the upper deck cannot be beat. Her puppy was great entertainment! Only thing that needs addressing is perhaps some new furniture (one broken piece) but everything else was fantastic! We would like to Thank Ronni for a wonderful experience and memories!

Comfy and quiet

This property was just what we were looking for. It was very clean inside. Outside the patio and walkway we're a bit obstructed by overgrown bushes. The livingroom couch was damaged by a previous renter and we were told they didn't have time to replace it. Also the blinds over the patio door were broken and the patio door was cracked. These things didn't take away from what we felt was a really good choice for us. The hosts were wonderful. They live above the rental but we never heard them. They left for a vacation and at that point their dog barked constantly starting at about 4:00AM. That wasn't ideal. Good thing it was our last day there.

Good "Home Base" for Area Day Trips

We stayed at this property for 5 nights. We were looking for a centrally located apartment that would give us lots of room to spread out for the length of our stay. We had planned to take a number of day trips about 1-2 hours away so the location was ideal. Loved the amount of space - bedroom, kitchen, couch/TV viewing area. Perfect. After a long day it felt very good to come back to this apartment. The washer/dryer came in handy. We also used the outdoor grill a couple of times (however the propane ran out so I would suggest checking levels before your next guest arrives). We were disappointed in the outdoor space, specifically the view. The deck itself and the table/seating were very good. We enjoyed sitting outside each night with wine/food. But we were under the impression we would have a view of the backyard with hopes of watching wildlife emerging from the trees. Instead, there is a high fence that wraps around the apartment space blocking any such view. Driving through the park each day was pleasant. We were close to Fred Myers and Carrs Groceries. Downtown Anchorage was about 15-20 minutes by car. We would recommend this location if you need a "base" to launch off of for your daily activities. Good location to downtown Anchorage, Turnagain Arm, Hatcher Pass, Palmer, Portage.

Karen, We put up the fence to create a private, safe space for the apartment as some guests were concerned for the safety of their children and pets, especially after a grizzly bear passed right in front of the sliding glass doors. However, we tell all guests that they can go to the upper deck, which also has seating, to see the views and watch the wildlife. As it is above the yard, it also provides a safe viewing area. With the amount of wildlife in the area, we are putting guests' safety first. I believe my husband either refilled the propane or paid you back after you refilled it. We do check it frequently. Sometimes it runs out much faster than expected, especially if guests forget to turn it off, which has happened a few times. SInce your visit, we now have two tanks, so we can rotate them out. I am glad you had a good stay in Alaska.

Great Stay

We really enjoyed our stay at the Basher Apartment. It was extremely clean, comfortable, and well stocked with everything that we needed for our occasional cooking needs. Pictures really don’t show just how spacious the unit is. Communications with Sean and Ronni were always quick and accurate. We hope to stay with them again on a future trip to the beautiful state of Alaska!

Beautiful location, Friendly, fully appointed and large property

Ronnie and Shaun were exceptional hosts. They met us on arrival, showed us all the kitchen stocked items which included everything one would need to cook. The property includes a washer/dryer to help for for longer stays. It’s a large place with big living room, kitchen, and bedroom. The location was in the foothills around anchorage with beautiful views and plants, trees and flowers. We hope to return and stay with them. Stay here - you will love the owners and the experience!

Nine days in Anchorage

We enjoyed staying in this apartment. It is spacious and is located in a quiet neighborhood outside of Anchorage. We had several day trips planned. It was so nice to have a comfortable place to relax in the evenings. Thanks for the stay.

Good Home Base

This is a good home base for all the activities you’re probably going to do. It’s no frills, but clean and comfortable, sleep, eat, and shower there and go out and enjoy Alaska. Neighborhood is quiet and easy to find.

Come stay here!

We stayed for 2 weeks to celebrate our 40th anniversary. It was wonderful! Kitchen is well appointed, living room furniture very comfy, king sized bed heavenly. It is on the outskirts of Anchorage so very quiet but an easy drive into town. There are no views from the unit itself as it is on the lower level but pop upstairs to the deck- spectacular! Would definitely recommend and would stay again!
