Great place for a big family

  • 4 of 5

We had a great time in Maggie Valley. The cabin was conveniently located near main attractions. The accommodations were comfortable. We enjoyed making s'mores in the fire pit and the pool table was a big success. The owners responded immediately to our concern regarding the stove. We enjoyed our stay at Sugar Plum Cabin!

Really nice cabin. Exactly what we were looking for.

  • 4 of 5

We had 8 guys come up for the weekend so we could go white water rafting and go to the casino. Other cabins i looked at said they slept 8 when really it was just 4 queen size beds. This cabin has 10 individual beds which really worked for us. The addition in the back with the patio, fire pit and pool table is a great area to relax and hangout. The only thing to stop me from giving 5 stars was they're was a small problem when we arrived but was corrected. Great communication with the owners. I do highly recommend this cabin for big group's. Thank you for letting us stay there and i look forward to a future trip.

Exactly as pictured!

  • 5 of 5

7 adults and 3 children stayed comfortably in this beautiful cabin. It was easy to find and a short drive off the main highway. The weather was rainy so we didn't get to take advantage of the fire pit, but we did enjoy the large front porch! We would definitely stay here again.

Loved the cabin and the property, beautiful decor and scenery.

  • 5 of 5

We had a group of 11 friends and family. We enjoyed all the amenities, the fire pit, the detached garage and the beautiful front porch. We had some cool and rainy weather but we still enjoyed our stay. We also enjoyed horseback riding at the Cataloochee Ranch, Wheels of Time Museum, and The Great Smokey Mountain Park. We also got to see elk pass right thru the yard. Would recommend this cabin to anyone with a large or small group.

Over all I would rate this a four but could easily make a five with some modifications.

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our overall experience but there were some things that was a little challenging but if the price is right and a few modifications we would consider renting this again. For the negative, the parking was not as accommodating as we had hoped but we managed. It was not wheel chair friendly but we managed. The beds was not made and we had to make the beds before we could lay down to rest. The cooking pots was not what I would have put in there and was glad I had brought some from home. There was not enough towels and wash cloths for our whole group and had to buy extra at the local dollar store, this we would have brought with us had we known. the extra room out back was nice for extra space but the beds were extremely hard. We loved the porch's and put them to use, was nice sitting out there and enjoying the cool weather. For the positive, it was awesome finding a place within our gospel groups budget and conveniently located to Cherokee where we were singing for the Memorial Day weekend. I would suggest the kitchen pots be replaced, the room downstairs be converted to another bedroom with queen or full size beds and the mattresses be changed or mattress pad be available for those who need a softer bed. The room out back would be awesome with a bathroom added to it also. This house has so much potential and is in a good location and will consider renting again. We thank you for working with us to make this weekend possible on a limited budget. We all left feeling like we had truly been in Gods presence as we sang in Cherokee on Saturday and Sunday of Memorial Day weekend. Thanks to you we had a place to rest and prepare our meals which surly helped in the financial area. God Bless you for allowing us to stay in your home.

Owner's Response: Thanks for all the feedback. Our cabin is really designed for families and kids, not necessarily 16 adults, so the downstairs room and pool room are intended more for kid play space than extra sleeping quarters. There is parking for 5 vehicles outside and 3 more indoor garage bays, but most family groups come 4 per car and rarely need more than 4 spaces. The cabin is not handicap accessible, but there are only 3 vertical steps from a parking area to the main floor and bedroom, as detailed before the date was booked. There are towels and washcloths for 16 guests, most are stored under the vanities, it may have just been an oversight, but would still encourage guests to conserve water and power consumption by re-using towels to minimize the generation of one time use towel laundry. We stack the clean linens folded on the bed so that incoming guests can inspect the bed and be assured that all linens are clean and fresh upon arrival. We’re constantly adding new décor and making upgrades, we’re restocking the kitchen utensils and cookware and will be replacing mattresses this summer. It is not our goal to provide the cheapest bulk sleeping space, but rather, to provide a unique, artistic and relaxing home for active families to enjoy time in the mountains together. We think Sugar Plum is the best mountain home available by that measure. …and we agree, we love all three porches. Hope to see you again soon!

We truly enjoyed our stay. The house was very nice. We were a little disappointed that the air hockey tablessings was not working, but other than that, it was great. Lots of laughter and memories made!
