MAINSAIL 404. Enjoy Spectacular Harbor and Sunset Views from Every Window

Overview

About the property

Villa, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 4-6)

PREPARE TO BE MESMERIZED, by the amazing fourth floor view. It will draw you in and hold you captive, whether enjoying an early morning coffee, while watching the boats leave the harbor, or savoring an evening cocktail and GLORIOUS SUNSET.....see it all from every window, in the privacy of your comfortable villa.

The villa boasts, TWO MASTER SUITES each with its own bath, including, dual vanities, JACUZZI TUB with SEPARATE SHOWER, and a walk in closet. One master has a king bed, bedside tables, lamps, amoire, flat screen TV, and a private sitting room with a Juliette balcony and a view straight down the harbor. You can enjoy that view, without ever stepping a foot out of your bed. The second master has two new queen beds, new 42" sony flat screen TV, and access to the SCREENED BALCONY, with yet another straight down the harbor view. There is a POWDER ROOM to the left of the foyer and a LAUNDRY ROOM, adjacent to the kitchen In the living room you'll find a queen sleeper sofa, FLAT SCREEN TV, a DVD, and access to the screened balcony.

On the occasions that you choose to eat in, the kitchen if fully equiped with GE Profile appliances, a dual convection oven, smooth cooktop, a convenient serving counter and three swivel stools (to take advantage of the view). If you enjoy barbecuing, there is a beautiful, lattice covered, grilling (two gas grills) and dining area adjoining the pool. Rest rooms are also coonveniently located in the pool and spa area. For your relaxation, there is a LARGE HOT TUB (under the lattice and the moon). I may be partial, but, I think MainSail has the most beautiful pool and spa area in all of Palmetto Dunes (see for yourself).

During the summer, enjoy nightly Harbourfest activities including, kid friendly entertainment and vendors. Beginning in the spring and continuing into the fall Shannon Tanner appears Monday thru Saturday. Young and old alike enjoy his enthusiastic ,energetic performances often encouraging the little ones to join him in song and dance.... be sure to bring your camera for this one. On Tuesday nights, sit back on your screened balcony and enjoy the fireworks display from across the harbor. If you long for quiet time, just close the doors and the villa becomes a soothingly quiet retreat. When you are finally able to pull yourself away from your reverie, there are a myriad of activities to choose from. Whether a novice or experienced kayaker, you can rent a kayak right in the harbor and experience a beautiful, peaceful time on the water. For the more adventurous, there are stand-up paddle boards available (it appears to be deceptively easy). Rent a skiff, reserve a fishing charter, or go on the, ever popular, dolfin watch cruise. We thoroughly enjoy watching the resident pelican who arrives, almost on cue, when the Captain Hook fishing charter returns. He is assured of having a special treat and receiving lots of media attention.

In the evening, stroll along the harbor to Ela's where you can listen to the live music right on the dock (I was touched to see a romantic couple, dancing in the moonlight). You may decide to go on up and sample the appealing menu items, or, if the crowd is lively, dance the night away. If Mexican is your pleasure, when you exit the villa you can hear the soft strains of music drifting up from San Miguel's. It beckons you to stop by for some good food and great company. Take a stroll in the opposite direction where you'll find a couple of old time favorites, Scott's Market and Bistro 17. There are also a couple of newer kids on the block. Bucci's Italian restaurant has one of the best happy hours on the island, nightly live music and a harbor front bar... a favorite of the locals. The Mediterranean Grill offers Middle Eastern selections and vegetarian options... on Friday nights, in season, a belly dancer. Frosty's Italian Ices, also offers ice cream, coffee, and a selection of candies and fudge. The newest shining star, fast becoming a gathering place for morning coffee and a delicious croissant or two...Hilton Head Social Bakery. The baguettes are wonderful and the French pastries are to die for The owner, Philippe and fiancé Marisa make you feel like you've stopped by their home kitchen. You definitely don't want to miss it. Take time to browse the shops for unique clothing, jewlry, or gifts. In addition, there are salon services and a marine store. It is delightful to stroll the harbor, watching the pelicans, admiring the boats or just enjoying the beauty of it all.....with the added bonus of never getting into the car.

When you've had your fill of all the harbor has to offer, check out the shops and restaurants at the new Shelter Cove, Town Center, where you can find Kroger, open 24/7. Ride the free, on demand, Dunes Buggy (April 1st thru September 30th) or bike to the beach. Hilton Heads warm mild surf is alluring but it's also fun to walk or ride bikes on the beach. Take a break at the beachside Dunes House for lunch, or sample a great pina colada at Coco's Beach Bar. Kayak or canoe the 11 mile lagoon system (unique to Palmetto Dunes), play a round of golf at one of Palmetto Dunes world class courses, or a game of tennis, on one of the 23 clay or 2 Nova Pro Bounce courts (8 lighted for night games).....all easily accessible, with or without a car. Palmetto Dunes has two ocean front resorts. Check out the new Omni Hotel, which replaces the Hilton Ocean Front Resort. The lush tropical garden, with fire pits and cozy seating, is a great place to gather before or after dinner. Treat yourself to a spa treatment at the Marriott (ask for Christine, tell her Judy sent you).

When you do need to drive into Shelter Cove you can easily avoid the, sometimes busy, main entrance. Opt, instead, to make the next right at the Cultural Arts Center, followed by a quick left, and your at Main Sail's private gate. You have probably realized that you can walk through that same gate and in a few minutes arrive at the Cultural Center to attend one of the many live performances (how convenient is that?).

I can't imagine being at a loss for something to do, but if you just want a change, the rest of the island awaits. You can ride the miles and miles of bike paths and never cover them all, browse the books at the town library, reserve a table at The Old Fort Pub (Hilton Head Plantation), making sure to time it for the sunset view. The food is delightful and the view to die for. For you golfers, Hilton Head has over 30 courses to choose from. Try your luck at catching dinner..... if that fails buy some local seafood, I guarantee you won't be disappointed. If you like to shop till you drop, take a short off island trip to Bluffton and visit the two Tanger outlet complexes. You will find almost every outlet you can think of and a selection of restaurants to refuel, when necessary. Search the many island consignment stores and thrift shops, for that special treasure (Hilton Head has many, just waiting to be discovered). For a change, try one of the public beach access points, peruse the shops and restaurants at Coligny Plaza. Last but not least, your stay would not be complete without lunch at Charlies.....ask any local and they can direct you....enjoy.

About The Owner

We are, Walter and Judy. We both grew up in a small suburb of NYC, where we met, married, and started a family. In the late 70's, we relocated to our current home in the beautiful Pocono Mountains. After the youngest, of our five grown children, graduated from Boston Law School we decided that, now, it's our time. We share a love of travel and adventure and in the summer of 2011 we took a two month, 12,000 mile, road trip to Alaska. Amazingly, we are still married after all that togetherness.....much of it spent in our medium sized SUV. Real estate has always fascinated us and we will occaisionally spend the day viewing open houses. We also enjoy revovating homes. Our current project, recently completed, is on a beautiful river and close to skiing in Mt. Tremblant, Quebec, Canada. Cruising has always been one of our favorite ways to vacation and we are always searching for that next great cruises, although, it will be difficult to give up our time on Hilton Head. Neither of us golf, but we do love kayaking, swimming, walking, reading, chess, biking, boating, and cooking. I have a home based accounting business and my spouse manages our investment properties.

The Owner purchased this villa in 2011

Why The Owner chose Shelter Cove

Hilton Head captured our hearts, when we first visited twenty years ago. When we finally decided it was time to buy, MainSail, had us from the get go. We have always liked the mid-island location of Palmetto Dunes and the harbor has a special draw for us. With the ability to walk to shops, restaurants, and entertainment, it has an urban feel, reminiscent of our youth. As our realtor can attest, we made this decision after considering many other locations and different types of residences. We always came back to MainSail. I have to admit, the ocean front location, also had its draw and in a perfect world we would have a place on the harbor and another on the ocean. Since, like most of us, we needed to make a choice, we chose MainSail and are thrilled with the decision.

What makes this villa unique

First and foremost, it's all about the view. What can I say, it's unobstructed and down right amazing. The convenience and security of lighted garage parking, elevator access to all floors, and private access to the harbor is wonderful. Everything the harbor has to offer is within easy walking distance, yet the building is very quiet. To top it off, the pool and spa area have a resort like feel and the seasonally heated pool allows a longer swim season. MainSail is the newest waterfront complex in Palmetto Dunes and has the higher ceilings and open concept that give it a spacious, welcoming feel. Lastly, I love the feeling of connectivity that I experience, when sitting on my balcony, in the evening......I can hear the soft murmur of voices and laughter as couples and families stroll by.

Perfect in every way imaginable.

  • 5 of 5

A five star rating does not do justice to this property. My fiancé and I have been vacationing on HHI for the last six years. We come to HHI twice a year and never stay at the same place. We enjoy staying at different areas on the island and experiencing all the various plantations. That said, we have just booked another stay at 404 Mainsail in September after our wonderful visit this past May. It's that good!! The views are incomparable, the floorplan is wonderful and the high quality furnishings are exquisitely comfortable . The screened in balcony is perfect, regardless of the weather. The spectacular views can be enjoyed from every room (the sunsets are amazing). The kitchen is very well equipped and the entire unit was spotlessly clean. We enjoyed the pool, which is spacious and inviting. Covered parking is available beneath the complex and several elevators allow easy access to the apartment. The owners are a joy to work with, accommodating, pleasant and truly concerned about their guests experience in their lovely condo. Mainsail is located in Shelter Cove within Palmetto Dunes Plantation. We like the central location and the close proximity to restaurants, shops and grocery stores. We usually bike to the beach but there is a shuttle that is available (most of the year) to take you to the beach and back. We can wholeheartedly recommend 404 Mainsail. We will be vacationing in a few weeks and have never been more excited to be returning to HHI and our second stay at 404 Mainsail.

Completely amazing!

  • 5 of 5

Wow. This condo is perfect in every way. It looked amazing from the pictures and reviews but still exceeded our expectations. Judy was so helpful and communication was open and easy. She provided wonderful information and suggestions for things to do during our week there. The condo is incredibly comfortable, spacious, and well appointed. While we of course enjoyed several HHI restaurants, the kitchen had everything we needed to cook family meals in the condo. This location can't be beat- our kids loved sitting by the living room window watching the paddle boarders, canoes, and boats go in and out of the harbor (even better than an ocean view, if you ask me!) We had quick and easy access to water activities, and of course were able to enjoy all that Shelter Cover offers, right outside our door. We can't wait to come back! Will definitely rent again! Thanks, Judy!

Perfect Accommodations, Wonderful Owner

  • 5 of 5

My family stayed in Judy's condo for one week in July and we couldn't have been more pleased. Judy was fantastic and sent us a calendar of events and local grocery deals in the weeks leading up to our trip. She also sent restaurant information other items to make our stay more enjoyable. She never hesitated to answer any questions we had, and called us upon arrival to make sure it was to our liking. The Condo was very well appointed and spacious with great amenities. The view and location couldn't have been better. The Tuesday night fireworks are directly in view from the balcony and the living room. Shelter Cove is a great place to stay with plenty to do at night for adults and kids. It's also super easy to catch a boat charter or a kayaking trip from this location. We would definitely stay here again. I highly recommend it.

The Perfect Hilton Head Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Immediately upon entering this unit, you are greeted with an impressive unobstructed view of the marina from the living room. The condo is tastefully decorated and meticulously maintained. Both bedrooms had comfortable bedding and large private bathrooms. The screened lanai is a great place to start your day over coffee and end your day watching the beautiful sunset with a bottle of wine. This unit has direct access to the Marina and you can easily walk to several quality restaurants, happy hour bar, boutiques, an Ice Cream Shoppe and every boat tour option available on the island.

The owners were extremely helpful, informative and always made themselves available; checking-in and checking-out was effortless and the owners really went out of their way to make you feel special. We have stayed at this unit for 2 consecutive years and this has quickly become one of our favorite places to vacation.

Exceptional

  • 5 of 5

From first contact with Judy and throughout the rental period, our experience with the owners and 404 Mainsail was first class. The furnishings, layout, design, views, space, feel quality, comfort and overall vibe here are just magnificent.

Add in the location to everything at Shelter Cove alone (Literally minutes walking/driving to shops, supermarkets, restaurants, bars, beach, pool, bike/boating rental) and you really have all of the ingredients for the perfect holiday.

I have only one regret writing this review which, when added to the others, may mean that we will have a job finding availability at this Condo next time we visit Hilton Head!!

Kudos to you Judy and Walter, you not only own a piece of paradise, you actively want to share it with other people.
