Overview

About the property

3 Bedrooms, 1 Bathroom, Sleeps 8

Enjoy a quiet retreat in a private wooded setting nestled in the WNC mountains, just outside of Brevard. Although you may feel remote, you'll actually be an amazing short drive to many destinations, that is sure to please anyone! The house was built in a free-flowing floor plan (all rooms connect, no hallways), which was common in rural areas. This older house has a full kitchen, dining room and large family area that has room to stretch out and relax. There are three bedrooms and a large bathroom that is built at the end of the house. The yard has a fire pit that you can enjoy and there is small charcoal grill to cook on. Under the canopy of a huge oak is a homemade picnic table and a two person swing. Here in Transylvania County we have 3 different park lands that provide miles of hiking, biking and horse trails. Fly-fishing, water tubing, rock climbing & picnicking and don't forget to view some of our 250 waterfalls. You are less than 5 miles from the Pisgah National Forest, 15 minutes to DuPont State Park and 30 minutes to Gorges State Park. If the outdoors aren't to your liking, you are just minutes away from Brevard, for dining, art/crafts, music and shops. If you get a chance, check out some of our festivals.

Great property!!

  • 4 of 5

We chose this property because it was close to sliding rock. Grocery stores and resteraraunts are close by. We had a great time staying at Carolina Spicewood!! Kids had plenty of room to play and the fire pit is awesome. I recommend staying here!!

Cozy and charming mountain house

  • 5 of 5

Before reviewing the house, we have to say that the owners were so thoughtful and accommodating that it really made us love the place even more. Every little detail is accounted for in some way and there is access to many of the things that you would find need of in a home, vacation or not. The owners saw to it that those things are available. As for the house, our family loved it! It was an older style home that has been taken care of through the years. It reminded us all of a mix between my grandmother's house and a beach cottage. Sounds odd I know, but we loved how we could open the windows and doors throughout the house and take in that wonderful mountain air, and at 56 degrees at 7am in July - we will take it! We were able to do everything we intended to do while in the area and the house served as a perfect spot for a home base. We enjoyed ourselves tremendously and loved, loved, loved the gas range and water heater! We would definitely stay again upon return to the area. Cannot say enough good things about the house or its owners. A real embodiment of what the VRBO experience should be about - good people, good homes and good times! Thanks again J & M, we will not soon forget it!

Nice touches in this mountain house. We especially liked the side yard with picnic table, grill and fire pit. Great place to spend a cool evening in the mountains.

Above and beyond expectations!

  • 5 of 5

We walked into a warm cozy cottage 1/4 mile into the woods in the mountains. Like going to Grandmas old home place. The cubbards had everything I forgot and then some, there were treats for the kids, everything was just perfect for our 3 day adventure in Pisgah National Forest...... will go back someday for sure!

Great location and fair price for a cycling vacation

  • 5 of 5

This property I have used before while down here for my team's annual training camps. Being located in Penrose, Dupont State Forest is short distance by bike, and the road routes we enjoy (Ceaser's Head, 276 to the BRP, through Dupont) are accessible right from the property. The car port is also great for keeping the bikes covered at night, with a washing area right out back. Mudroom is a great buffer from the living quarters. Used the fire pit for the first time and that was enjoyable (or maybe it was the smores).
