We felt very relaxed in this bungalow, surrounded by trees. This is a community of 16 different bungalows (some a bit more dated than others), home to many expats, in a treed residential area. You share a big community pool surrounded by a lovely garden and a destination to monkey troops, toucans, and scarlet macaws. The bungalow is well kept with a big lower terrace and a smaller upper balcony, which was our favourite area to sit in the morning and observe the many birds. Katharine and John live right next door and are super responsive to any requests. The split-level bungalow has a spacious master bedroom upstairs with a king-sized bed (and A/C), and there is a small bathroom with shower under the roofline. The lower bedroom is truly small, and we used it mainly for storage. I would say the place is ideal for a couple and perhaps a younger child, but a stretch for two couples.
Local bus stops are within walking distance to take you to the beach area, or bring a 4x4 car to explore the beaches yourself.
The (only) main road in Manual Antonio is super busy with cars, very hilly and there is no shoulder to walk on, so plan on public transport or a car to get around. This bungalow is set back from the road (no traffic noise, much appreciated!) in the proximity of Hotel California. We would stay there again!
