Located in the highly desirable Beach Villas at the south end of South Seas Island Resort, this property has a wonderful view of the Gulf of Mexico and the often stunning sunsets. This specific unit was chosen so as to not have any pool area directly in front of the unit, where the surrounding plantings could obscure the view. The view is superior to many of the higher up units. Our property is conveniently located within walking distance of the Captiva village where you will find dinning and shopping. It's nice to not have to worry about parking at the restaurants.
This property is very well equipped and you will find most of the accommodations of home. Some of the amenities included are; fully equipped kitchen, full size refrigerator with ice maker, dishwasher, separate bedroom with king size bed (queen sofa sleeper out in living room), coin laundry (down stairs), stereo with ipod and mp3 attachment, 2 flat panel TVs (42' living room & 20' bedroom), cable TV with HBO, hair dryer, Iron, Ironing Board, free WI-Fi internet connection, plantation shutters, and porcelain tile flooring throughout. There is an elevator, but you may not need it since the condo is on the first level, up only one flight of steps. This particular unit was chosen for the prime ocean view without having to go up and down additional steps every time you go somewhere. And, Captiva does beckon you to get out and go.
I use a well known real estate company on the islands for my 24/7 on call maintenance, key pick up/drop off, gate pass and billing. For convenience all payments are handled directly through them after you have reserved the property. They have a large presence on the islands and one of the best reputations on the islands. Should one of my guests need anything, they are always right there to help. Another reason that I use them is because they take care of the sales taxes with the State of Florida for me. VRBO won't do that. So call, text or send me an email directly, and save.
We are always looking to make improvements to our property. As of 11/2016, the kitchen has new counter tops with new sink and faucet. The vanity area has a new vanity, vanity top, sink and faucet. What I like most is the space saving entry door to the bath tub and comode area. We have replaced all the flooring with new 20” porcelain tile throughout the unit in 2014. In 2013 the Bedroom window had been replaced with a double pane, vinyl frame, hurricane approved window, which significantly reduces the amount of occasional noise from the Beach Villas breezeway. Very few of the Beach Villa properties have gone to the expense of this upgrade, but my guests are worth it. Kitchen and dinning table ceiling light fixtures have been replaced. There are new ceiling fans in the bedroom and on the lanai. We have Plantation Shutters for the sliding glass doors rather than cloth curtains, which helps to keep dust to a minimum. Each year we examine and implement what improvements can be made in an effort to achieve the highest satisfaction from our guests. I do my best to keep my property up to date giving my guests a fresh clean feel and I encourage guest input because I want them to want to come back. We vacation here too.
Captiva is a sub-tropical barrier island off the coast of Fort Myers, FL and enjoys fine weather year round thanks to the moderating waters of the Gulf of Mexico. The island is about 5 miles long and there are no traffic lights. There is a four way stop sign in the Village. Golf carts are permitted on the roads at the north half of the island. You will not find any high rise hotels on Captiva or Sanibel Island. There is a $6.00 toll at the causeway bridge to get onto Sanibel/Captiva, which reduces the amount of traffic coming onto our islands. There is plenty of free parking at the condo, as long as you have a gate pass to get into the resort.
Our condominium complex has 3 heated pools, tennis courts (for a fee) and BBQ grills along with other amenities conveniently located nearby and available for your use. We have provided two 7' Tommy Bahama beach umbrellas and Tommy Bahama beach chairs for your use. We are also within walking distance (1/2 mile) via the beach or along the road to the Captiva Village where you will find several restaurants with entertainment and shopping. We typically walk but many of our guests have rented golf carts or bicycles to get around to shopping and dinning. Several of the restaurants have live music nightly for your enjoyment. During a one week stay you could easily eat dinner at a different restaurant on Captiva without eating at the same one twice. Necessities like bikes, cribs, strollers and other items can be delivered directly to your condo by local businesses.
Once you get to your condo, you could easily not drive anywhere for the entire week. Just remember where you put your keys!
Getting here is easy, yet you will feel like you are worlds away, typically in just about an hour from the Airport. From I75 exit 131 and Southwest Florida International (RSW) take Daniels Pkwy west (follow signs for Sanibel, Captiva and beaches), you will bear left onto Summerlin Road to the Causeway and onto Sanibel Island. Once on Sanibel follow signs to Captiva. Once on Captiva follow the road to South Seas Island Resort on right just before the road ends.
**A Note About South Seas Amenities
South Seas Resort Amenities are NOT included. Those amenities are the 9 hole executive golf course, the pool complex 2 miles north of our property (we have our own heated pools at the Beach Villas), the trolly, the restaurants also at the north end of the resort by the pools, the gym and the resort beach chairs and umbrellas (we have provided two 7' Tommy Bahama beach umbrellas and four Tommy Bahama beach chairs for your use). There is not daily maid service, but it is available for an additional charge. Per state law, there are no private beaches in the State of Florida, so you may put up your beach umbrella and chairs anywhere on the beach that you desire. Many people inquire about buy a pass from the resort to access their amenities. I do not get involved with that nor do I suggest it. You would have to make your own arrangements, and I do advise caution if you do.
You may be asking yourself why you shouldn’t reserve a property directly through the resort. The answer is simply this—we provide an equivalent unit and atmosphere that the resort does, at a much reduced rate. You also get to see the pictures of your unit here on VRBO. I talk with other owners and I know that most have not done the upgrades that I have done. The pictures that the resort publishes may not represent the unit that you are renting, because all units in the Beach Villas are individually owned and decorated. Really...check out their rates! There is a non refundable 2.5% damage deposit waiver, in lieu of of a large damage deposit, which is included in my base price.
Saturday check in and or check out is usually required.

About the owner: I grew up in the Rochester, NY area and have lived in Syracuse, NY, Greenville, SC, Marietta, GA and now call Acworth, GA home with my wife of 29yrs. We enjoy going to a quiet beach where you can go for long peaceful walks or lounge under an umbrella with a good book. We bring our Paddle Boards with us, and have been from one end of Captiva to the other on the water while encountering various types of fish, Dolphin, turtles and even Manatee. There are also plenty of sea birds including Pelicans, Osprey, Egrets and Heron often seen searching for their next meal. I make a living as a Field Service Engineer working with all kinds of medical lasers.
Why the Owner Chose Captiva, FL, USA:
This property has been in my family since 1978 which was the year it was built. The particular unit was chosen for the best unobstructed ocean view without having to go up and down additional steps every time you go somewhere. As you can tell from the photos, the view from this condominium is better than many of the higher up units. It was purchased for the unique feel of seclusion, remoteness and the closeness with nature. The islands have maintained the feel through the years due to the limited commercial build up. Being located in southwest Florida also provides a better chance of swimming weather, even in the coldest of North American months. Many in my family have vacationed and honeymooned here, including us. There are lots of wonderful memories. We hope that you too will soon have memories to cherish for years to come.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
When staying here we feel like we are a million miles away from everything. It is so hard to leave and go back to reality. We are close enough to the village to walk via the beach or the road where we will go for breakfast, lunch and dinner unless we decided to eat in since we have a fully equipped kitchen. We can be sure that we will have had a relaxing and enjoyable vacation when we stay at the South Seas Beach Villa. We work hard to make the condo a nice place to stay, but please get out and enjoy the unique scenery of Captiva. That's really what this place is all about.
