Property type chateau / country house
Minimum Stay 2 - 3 nights

About the property

Enjoy your stay in traditional luxury at a unique island retreat!!

“Archontiko” is the flagship domicile of the "Georgilas Cave House" complex. Since 19th century, it has been always open to visitors and guests under any formal occasion!

Its construction was based on the dictates of climate, the particular housing requirements and the materials available to the local masons. In particular, the build is rising in three levels, communicating through stone staircases: the individual utility-room, named “Loutro” (first level), the main house (second level) and the attic – office (third level). The second and the third level are nestled at an elevated position and, but for their earth-toned coloring, they are well secluded and not easily visible from afar, ensuring thus privacy, calmness and direct contact with the nature!

The build’s interior design is combination of personal taste and traditional luxury: “Archontiko” comprises 3 high ceiling bedrooms (with en-suite bathroom, wardrobe and private entrance each), a spacious lobby, a fully equipped kitchen, a spiral staircase leading to the attic, and two large private verandas with panoramic view to the verdant valley of Eggares. The decoration is mainly rustic and elegant with antiques and handmade furniture. “Archontiko” has, of course, direct access to the 1 acre pebbled garden and the 5 acre privately owned citrus grove.

“Archontiko” was recently refurbished (just in 2013) and converted into an impressive mansion, which is able to accommodate comfortably large groups of guests.

This was a peaceful retreat nestled in the valley. This property provides complete relaxation.

Our experience here was very good and Anastasia is a lovely person who definitely goes the extra mile to ensure your stay is enjoyable. A car is definitely a must here as it is quite remote, close to the small village of Gallini. The only thing that would have improved our stay would have been air con.....the nights were very hot and sticky. We had a lovely time here and the pool area is fantastic. Thank you Anastasia for all the home made lemonade, iced coffee and local cheeses....these little touches were very appreciated. We also enjoyed listening to her stories about the folklore of the island....very informative and interesting.

A Wonderful Relaxing Place!

  • 5 of 5

We just arrived home after a week stay at this gorgeous traditional Greek style home. It came highly recommended to us by our dear friends. After reviewing it online, I knew it would be a unique and relaxing place to end our trip. The host, Anastasia, was always very clear and responsive to all aspects of booking/payment/ferries/car rental etc... she greeted us on arrival and could not have been more kind and helpful. She gave us a quick tour and tips about where to visit and where to eat on the Island.

The home is clean, organized and comfortable. We all enjoyed relaxing by the pool and walking around the farm. Galini is a few minutes walk from the house with a little grocery store and restaurant which was convenient to dine in after a long day of touring. We ended up watching a few soccer matches with the locals! You will need to rent a car to truly enjoy the beaches and little villages around Naxos.

We hope you enjoy your stay just as much as we did!!

Amazing Naxos Island Villa

  • 5 of 5

We just arrived home after a week stay in this lovely villa. One week was not enough. This home is a lovingly restored castle with modern amenities. If you like Gaudi design, you will definitely enjoy the unusual and unexpected characteristics of this historic home. The decor in the home is traditional Greek style, comfortable and spotlessly clean.

We arrived in Naxos with our adult children and grandson to celebrate a family wedding and from the moment we pulled into the driveway, our hosts could not have been more welcoming. The family is available on site, unobtrusive and extremely gracious and helpful in every aspect of the stay. Each morning we awoke to the offer of Greek coffee and delicous pita or fresh egg omelets. We hosted a family dinner in the garden and our hosts referred us to the local taverna whose helpful staff delivered a delicious Greek meal. Our hosts helped us plan, set up and decorate for a memorable dinner, even having staff place extra lights in the garden to set the ambience.

The home has a lovely garden with fruit laden trees. The roosters awaken you in the morning and you can walk down the driveway to visit the goats. Restful yet striking views of the agricultural valley and a peek of the Aagean Sea are available from the three lovely decks. Melodious birds and insects lull you to sleep each evening after a refreshing swim in the gorgeous pool. Each room is appointed with a comfortable bed, crisp linens, an imaginative cave shower and a well stocked kitchenette. The vibrant colors of each area of the home create a light-hearted and playful mood. The decor is charming and authentic, simple and uncluttered creating a peaceful retreat in which to relax.

I recommend renting a car, as the location of the home is a bit "off the beaten path" (adding to the charm). It will take you 15-20 minutes to drive into the port city and the enchanting beaches. The sea with a beach is less than a mile from the home, but we did not have a chance to visit. The location added to the excitement and experience of traditional Greek island life. Each of our kids loved the Cave house, thank you to Anastasia, George and Katherine for helping us create memories that will last a lifetime. The kids told us it was the "best vacation ever".

Perfect place to stay in Naxos

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect place to stay in Naxos. The village of Galini is in walking distance and very cute with a fantastic local taverna (that offers cooking lessons). The setting could not be more beautiful of the mountains and orchards. There is a beach close by, but it is not ideal for swimming.

Highly recommend!

A unique place for a unique vacation

  • 5 of 5

We recently had the privilege to spend a week in this wonderful house in Naxos.

First, the location. Naxos is a gorgeous island with lots of amazing beaches, a beautiful country side and a real sense of authenticity. The village of Galini is very close from Naxos town but also very isolated and quiet. It lays in a beautiful and luxurious valley and the local Taverna was our favorite. A lovely beach is a 10-minute drive.

Second, the house. Recently renovated with the best taste and materials, it is absolutely stunning. The view on the valley from the terraces and the pool is superb. Thanks to its thick ancient walls, the house stays cool on hot days and is so quiet. Coming from a (very) noisy city, we enjoyed listening to the gentle song of the animals and the bells of the church next door. The large pool keeps everyone happy and cool. This is with no doubt the house of my dreams.

And finally, the hosts. Anastasia and her family are the nicest and most generous people we got to meet. They welcomed us with warmth and care. They were always available when we had a question or needed something, and we genuinely felt at home.

We had the most enjoyable and relaxing time in Naxos and hope to be back soon.
