About The Owner

I live in Maine but I am able to enjoy 3-4 months of each year at my special Inlet Cove cottage.

The Owner purchased this cottage in 1995

What makes this cottage unique

I love to sit on the sunporch (in any sort of weather!) and look at the views, which are always changing.

Love the location and the views

  • 3 of 5

Overall it was a good experience. Furniture, towels and pillows were very worn and could use updating. Kitchen items needed cleaning before use. The neighborhood pool, decks and docks were nice amenities. Access to owners' bikes and kayaks would have been nice. We were required to rent ours.

Owner's Response: I'm so glad you had a good week. I'm always happy to know that my guests have enjoyed my cottage. I'm sorry about the towels! I replace them each year but they do get a lot of wear during the season, and sometimes they get "misplaced". And yes, I would love to let my guests use my bikes and kayaks but I have had some unfortunate experiences doing that and can't share them any more.

Beautiful river property

  • 5 of 5

The pictures don't do the property justice. It has a very private river view with outside seating that is pleasant for watching the dolphins throughout the day. The property is extremely nice with a new kitchen and finishes. It makes a big difference in the details when you stay in a property that the owners use as their home. The owners were very responsive to communication and this was the easiest check in that we have ever had with going to kiawah for over a decade. Appreciate the property manager checking in on us during our stay. All kitchen supplies were more than adequate. My favorite location and unit on the island!!

Fabulous views, easy walk to beautiful beach

  • 5 of 5

We've stayed at this house several times and it gets better and better! Since our last visit, there is a brand new kitchen and hardwood floors. We enjoyed being active every day- walking on the beach, kayaking, biking along the paths and beach, and swimming in the ocean and pool. At the end of the day, we relaxed with wine on the deck, watching the sunset over the Kiawah River. Wildlife abounds- pelicans, egrets, crabs, dolphins. We'll definitely be back!

Feels like our home at Kiawah Island

  • 5 of 5

This is our third time staying here. It gets better each time. My wife and I were joined by my 24 year old son and my 91 year old mother. There were ample opportunities for all of us to be active, or just to relax. The home has been redone since our last trip two years ago, highlighted by new hardwood floors. The weather was mixed with temperatures down in the mid-40's in the evening and in the high 50's to mid-60's during the day. The home's most stunning feature is the close overlook of the Kiawah River, a tidal river (though we saw no dolphins this time). The movement of the river is responsive to the tides, and beyond the river is a large marsh area for ample bird viewing. There is a sitting area at the back of the house overlooking the river with comfortable chairs, around which we gathered each evening for wine, cheese and crackers, and the nightly experience of sunset over the river.

This is a gated community, and most houses are empty during the winter. We arrived to find that our gate code did not work. We had a key code to get into the house (lock box like on homes for sale). We walked to the house (5 minutes), got into the house, got the phone number for the management company and called. At the same time, we called Jan (the owner) in Maine. Impressively, within ten minutes, both Jan and the management company had returned our call, given us a corrected code because the gate was refusing to accept the new code, and we were on our way. As a backup, there is a security gate for the remainder of the island staffed 24 hours, and they were helpful as well.

There is a large market surrounded by a variety of shops a mere 5 minutes away. We spent one day in Charleston, about 50 minutes away. The airport is about an hour away, but easy to get to the island.

We looked around in the West Cove area of the island, and it was our opinion that this home had the best view of the river and the best chance of great sunsets.

We will keep coming back.

Charming Beach House with Lovely River Views

  • 5 of 5

We so enjoyed our week at this charming beach house on Kiawah Island! The panoramic river view from the sunroom, bedrooms and deck make this house special! We enjoyed grilling with the large gas grill on the deck. We had a great view of of the tidal river and it's wildlife, including blue heron, white egrets, seagulls, pelicans, and occasionally dolphins! It's an short walk to the public beach run by the park service, and a short drive to West Beach that's part of the resort. Kiawah Island is a destination in it's own right, with world class golf courses and fabulous beaches. And it's not far from the attractions of Charleston! It was great to be able to have our dog with us at the house and on the beach! We plan to return.
