About Carla

I have lived in Virginia for 40+ years. I love nature and Clarke County and love the idea of sharing Blue Hill with guests so they can learn about the importance of keeping our natural spaces.

Carla purchased this farmhouse in 2003

Why Carla chose Shenandoah Valley

It offered us the chance to get away without having to travel far -- it's far enough way from the city but close enough if you need to go into the city!

What makes this farmhouse unique

Blue Hill is nestled in a rural country setting but is a 20 minute drive to Winchester, Berryville and Middleburg.

There are lots of activities - hiking, wine tasting, breweries, historical sites, local farmers markets, drives along scenic country roads, thrifting/flea markets and so much more!

Relax and enjoy the peace and tranquility surrounded by nature and we are pet friendly.

Blue Hill is also a great setting for receptions or weddings - please inquire about our wedding packages.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Peaceful and beautiful spot for our 10th Anniversary! We enjoyed the birds and just being outside :).

The Farm market was a lot of fun too! Thank you for including the brochures!

Fantastic home and property

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Blue Hill for a 5 day long weekend over the 4th of July - it was just the 2 adults and our dog for the stay, so it was more house than we needed. The master bedroom was fantastic as well as the very large shower (we loved the river rock floor in the shower). We really enjoyed the hot tub outdoor seating. No matter what time of day, there was a shady spot to be found to enjoy nature. Our dog loved the large yard, he wore himself out playing frisbee while we were there. There are a LOT of wineries within 20-30 min of the house, many of which are dog friendly on their patios. We would definitely recommend this house for couples all the way up to multiple family get togethers.

Peaceful retreat, great for a group!

  • 5 of 5

We spent a girls weekend at Blue Hill to celebrate my 40th birthday. The house was very comfortable and we loved the large dining table and den where we could all sit together for meals and hang out time. I would definitely stay here again with a group - a great retreat from the city!

Perfect Location to Share with Friends

  • 5 of 5

I chose Blue Hill as the location for my friend's bachelorette party and it was fantastic! The house itself is big enough to entertain a decent group and not feel crowded. It was also very close to a number of wineries that were easy to get to and from on the bus we rented. Blue Hill is very well maintained and the owner/property manager are very responsive to any questions or issues. My favorite part was the hospitality - the owner had a beautiful bouquet of flowers for the bride waiting on the table! It was a very thoughtful gesture. I would recommend Blue Hill to anyone looking for a beautiful location to host a party or simply get away from the city. I personally look forward to staying again!

Wonderful and relaxing get away!

  • 5 of 5

This house was beautiful, clean and welcoming. Our goal was to relax and this farmhouse and property helped us to achieve that goal. We enjoyed the hot tub, grill, wrap around porch and back deck outside and inside was very spacious and comfortable! Loved the large dining room where we could all gather comfortably for meals. Plenty of comfortable beds and large updated bathrooms! Definitely considering a return visit!

Great place! Everything we needed for our large group

  • 5 of 5

We came for our daughters wedding and had a great time. It was so nice to have the family together in one place. The house was perfect and plenty of room for us. We enjoyed the hot tub and the room to have family meals together. We ended up having to bring our dog and it was so perfect for him !! Thanks!
