The Bandera Stronghold is located 5 miles from downtown Bandera on spring fed Mason Creek. Wildlife abounds on this heavily wooded 8.5 acres. The Crazy Horse cabin is adjacent to the host’s home, though very secluded. It features a full kitchen for "cooking/dining in" and is stocked w/ most needed utensils, condiments & coffee (since hosts are on site, they're happy to share anything you might need or have forgotten). The private back deck holds the hot tub and overlooks the beautiful creek. Crazy Horse cabin offers a queen bed, cozy dining for two in the kitchen, full bath with tub and shower combo, TV monitor with DVD player, central air and heat, charcoal grill, outdoor dining table & chairs. Your well behaved dog is welcome for an additional fee. All bed and bath linens are supplied. A roll away bed is available for a 3rd guest for an additional fee. (See our other cabin listing, property i.d. # 3926136, Red Cloud Cabin, if you need a 2nd cabin). Enjoy a day of catch and release fishing, bird and deer watching and a dip in the creek followed by an evening of stargazing as you soak in the hot tub. No telephone or wifi, but decent AT&T cell service most of the time. Spring 2017 - Much improved driveway now - gravel base is suitable for mototcycles. A few bare areas, but easily avoided. Great place to get away from it all and get back to nature, yet still close to town and other popular Hill Country locations. Comfortable and cozy and had everything we could possibly need for our vacation...especially loved the lack of wifi, as it really allowed us to unplug, relax and enjoy nature. Loved seeing all the deer on the property and it was clearly apparent that the owners care about the wildlife and property. We were sad when our departure day rolled around knowing we had to leave. Can't go wrong with a stay here and we plan on returning in the future.
Very nice stay and beautiful wildlife
Small, quaint, very special.
We had a wonderful stay!!!!!
Met Our Expectations!
My wife and I recently made a trip to Bandera to dig for arrowheads for 3 days. We wanted a place that was close by with cold air conditioning. This property is right on Mason Creek which provides for a very peaceful setting. While it is a very small simple cabin, it has all the basics you need- air conditioning, bathroom, kitchen, hot shower, and bed. There is no cable television so bring some DVDs. Very nice back porch. The cabin is in excellent condition. Very clean. There is not a living room/sitting area inside other than two bar stools and a bar top. You will likely hang out on the back porch which is very nice! The property is on acreage and captures the Texas Hill Country experience. We recommend this property.
Peaceful cabin! Amazing little cabin
We enjoyed our stay very much. The owners were amazing and the property was so peaceful. We loved the view of the creek and wildlife. We took full advantage of the outdoor grill and table for our meals. We will be returning soon! It was everything we hoped for and more!
Very Clean Cozy Cabin
Cozy cabin in a peaceful quiet location. The kitchen is stocked with pretty much anything you might need as far as dishes, pots & pans, spices & condiments, etc. Bathroom also well-stocked - has plenty of towels, shampoo, conditioner, soap & a hair dryer. The hot tub is great, and the beautiful black walnut tree that the deck was built around is magnificent. There is a group of deer that hang out on the property - several bucks with good-sized antlers. You can enjoy the sounds of frogs & crickets at sundown, and birdsong all day.
