About the property

House, 4 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 10)

Our serene, lush all usable and playful 5-acre estate in Kenwood, California, nestled inside the vineyards of the posh Chateau St. Jean Winery is called 'Raisinwood,' derived from our last names in homage to the family friendliness of our idyllic country home.

The rejuvenating calm of the fresh, invigorating countryside will engulf and transport you away from the bustle of everyday life from the moment you wind in on the rustic driveway alongside a lavender farm under towering oak trees,

A quaint wooden bridge guides you to our welcoming, sunny home surrounded by a gorgeously landscaped yard that sprawls in every direction. Tall trees and lush foliage seclude the property and hint toward the surrounding expanse of nature that include several State Parks, Nature Preserves and Bald Mountain, which towers in full view.

The unique architecture of Raisinwood highlights the connection to the outdoors with stately French doors that open directly onto the lawn and decks from bedrooms and the main living areas. Natural light pours into each room energizing the space.

Four bedrooms and three bathrooms comfortably accommodate ten guests. A luxurious Master Suite and secondary master bedroom allow for peaceful refuge. Two additional bedrooms with single and bunk bed accommodations are perfect for kids or single guests.

The fully equipped kitchen is a culinary lover’s dream with a state of the art BBQ and dining area on a deck that winds around the back of the house.

Recline in one of the several outdoor seating areas with a bottle of wine in hand from the adjacent famed winery, and you are living the California countryside dream. The sleek pool and lounging area along with the fully –equipped outdoor sports courts offer plenty of options for family fun.

Extracurricular activities include scenic walks, hikes, and biking trails. Sonoma County is famous for its wineries, spas and resorts. Historic Sonoma center boasts 5 star restaurants, spas and shopping. At the end of an active day, you can call in a masseuse or have dinner catered in the comfort of your newly nested home.

We keep Raisinwood very clean to support our healthy lifestyle and environment. We respectfully ask you to maintain a non –smoking atmosphere and not to hold parties.

We are confident that Raisinwood will host the ideal Kenwood and Sonoma experience, with opportunities for every age group in the family.

About Preston Raisin

I'm a partner at Atlas Capital a firm in San Francisco where I specialize in transparent and separately managed accounts driven by the Fama-French academic process . I've recently bought a farm near downtown Sonoma to cultivate my passion for sustainable agriculture and community based food sources. I'm married to a lovely pediatrician with whom I share 5 vivacious kids. I love to swim, hike, bike, play basketball and garden. We choose to rent out Raisinwood because our growing kids want to be home with their friends and extra-curricular activities to which they’re committed. We all are already looking forward to our Raisinwood getaway in late August or the fall.

Preston Raisin purchased this estate in 2003

Why Preston Raisin chose Sonoma County

We initially bought Raisinwood in the desirable Kenwood countryside to enjoy as a respite from the city with our small children, friends and family. This is the first time we have listed our property to rent. We favor Kenwood’s convenient proximity to Sonoma Center and distance from the bustle of Napa in addition to the easy access to highway 12, connecting us to the entire region.

What makes this estate unique

It’s a toss up between lounging in the hammock, swimming, playing sports, cooking, and gardening, hiking, biking or visiting the numerous surrounding attractions. The tranquility yet opportunity on our property waxes and wanes as the moon and your moods. I look forward to hearing what part you liked best.

Perfect Sonoma Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We are frequent, long-time VRBO renters, and this is now one of our favorite places. The owners were very responsive and reasonable. The setting is quiet but convenient. The house is very comfortable, and the kitchen is well-stocked. The yard is expansive, with fruit trees, tennis/basketball/volleyball court, and bocce -- and the pool is deep enough for diving, which led to hours of fun. We hope to return!

Absolutely Amazing, Stunning Property, 5 STARS all the way! Fantástico!

  • 5 of 5

Absolutely amazing ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 starts all the way! I was looking for a getaway for Family and Friends to celebrate my Daugther's 40th birthday, and I found the perfect place! Absolutely stunning property with all around amenities to entertain anyone in your group! It was just what my Daugther had dreamed of! We were there for 4 days and got to do an all day BBQ by the Pool this past Saturday and we still have people raving about this place! I have several friends already inquiring about the next rental! And of course all the arrangements and accommodations that Preston made for us was top notch, he went above and beyond to help us feeling ourselves at home, we had a pleasure to meet him at the house! Definitely will be back!

Absolutely amazing property, amazing owners, went way above and beyond!

  • 5 of 5

The house is absolutely ideal for multiple families wanting to spend time in Napa/Sonoma. The pool is heated to 80 degrees in good weather, and the pristinely landscaped and maintained grounds hosted innumerable softball, soccer, basketball, bocce, and two-hand touch football games for both kids and adults. The house essentially has two fantastic master suites (one king and one w/ 2 queens), plus a small but very comfortable 2-full bedroom (with very good beds) with a shared bathroom steps away, and then a great double bunkbed room for kids across the hall from the shared bathroom. The property is nearly completely surrounded by the beautiful Chateau St. John vineyard, and is in a great location for day trips to Sonoma or Napa.

And as great as the house was, it is the owners that I really want to talk about, because they are the best I have ever dealt with in my 30+ HomeAway/VRBO properties that I have rented.

Here's the story: I checked in just before New Year's Day 2017 with my sister's family and our parents. When we arrived at the house in the late evening, it was quite cold, and the heaters did not seem to be heating the house properly. We called the owner, and she was sincerely horrified and told us she would get it straightened out right away and make everything right for us. The problem turned out to be that the propane tank had run empty, but she had the housekeeper come out to deliver some firewood, and a not long after a propane company employee arrived with a pickup truck to fill up as much as he could carry in the truck that night. That got the heater working again, and by the time we went to bed, the house was heating up quickly. In the morning, the big truck arrived, and completely filled the giant propane tank, and we were all set for the weekend.

I thought, "ok, this was an inconvenience, as we were cold for a few hours, but hey, these things happen", and she certainly solved the problem quickly and efficiently. I figured some small token of apology might be forthcoming, but did not expect what happened next. She called and said "we really dropped the ball, and want to make it right. Please choose any weekend in May, and come back free of charge. The weather will be great, the pool will be open, and you'll really see this house at its best."

So I write this now just after that visit, having spent Mother's Day 2017 at Raisinwood, free of charge, and it was everything we hoped it would be. A magical weekend. Thanks, Lindsey!

Awesome place!

  • 5 of 5

We came up here with 2 other families and with kiddos under the age of 7 and we all had the blast. The home is cozy and spacious and the outdoor space is gorgeous. Both kids and adults had a blast spending time outside. The owners were very responsive and helpful. We look forward to coming back.

Spectacular Grounds and Ideal for Families

  • 5 of 5

We came here with 2 other families for Memorial Day Weekend and could not have been more delighted by the house and grounds. The photos truly do not do this property justice - the yard is absolutely stunning with huge expanses of grass surrounding the pool, beautiful trees, vineyards all around. It was lovely. There is a beautiful pool and more than enough space for the kids to run and play, not to mention the sport court, tetherball, bocce and putting area. The house was stocked better than most rentals with everything you need in the kitchen, a few pool floats and lots of sporting equipment. We had 6 adults and 7 kids ranging from 2.5 years old to 10 and all of them had an absolute ball, not to mention the layout of the house felt spacious enough to accommodate everyone with no one feeling cramped. The location is also fabulous and close to many wineries, restaurants, etc. Honestly, we didn't have any complaints and hope to rent this house again in the future. It was the perfect spot!
