Great view! Enough space for a family! Would stay again!

Our family stayed in this condo for 4 nights and had a blast. The condo was right beside the walkway to the beach which made it very convenience to walk back to the condo when need be. There is a distance from the condo to the beach because of the nature dunes and the walkway does not allow for wheelchair access, just something to keep in mind (not the condos fault of course.) The condo had fairly updated furniture throughout and was pretty typical of a rental unit. Tons of pots and pans in the unit to cook with but not a ton of space to store groceries for those that want to stay for a full week. The A/C units worked great and it was nice to have ceiling fans in each room. Close enough to walk to the local shops and to get an ice cream which was perfect for a late night snack. The unit did come with sheets for all the beds and enough towels for 10 people staying in the condo. Three rocking chairs on the back deck and other chairs to set in for a large family. Outdoor shower to rinse off the little ones as well as sandy feet after a day at the beach. The unit has keyless pad to enter and exit so don't have to worry about locking yourself out especially for those that have teenagers like us. As with most condos, you will receive a few rolls of toilet paper and trash bags so just be prepared to bring additional for the duration of your stay. All and all I would stay again at this condo. The rental company was quick to respond to any and all concerns and was all smiles when we checked in! Sunset is a smaller island than Holden and Ocean Isle so it was a nice change of pace!

Oh my aching back!

  • 2 of 5

Lovely view, yes. Easy beach access, yes. Sleeps 10, yes. Comfortably, NO! It's not even possible for the three of us to sleep comfortably. Horrible! This place is NOT worth the premium rate associated with this property. I can not imagine the cost of keeping up a home located on the beach, but this owner is way behind. Although my two children and I gathered around the outdoor table for games and meals, we had to be mindful of the rust and peeling paint on the metal table. I found myself worrying about when the last time we've had our tetanus shots. (Seriously) Although we certainly did not come to the beach to watch tv, it was next to impossible to figure out "the code" of which remote, which button, which cable plugs were unplugged by the last renters... It looked like a plate of spaghetti behind the tv console. None of the external speakers were hooked up. The volume on high was only audible if the air conditioner was not running. The good news is there are plenty of wine pulls! So far I found six! Oh! And everybody's plastic grocery bags since May (according to a receipt found in one) are stored in various locations throughout the kitchen! The bonus was when I was searching through cupboards hoping to locate a lid for the pan I was using, I discovered what looked to be a plastic grocery bag full of wet (?) mystery. My first thought was a couple full baby diapers, since that was the weight and feel. Through the plastic it sort of looked like a couple kitchen towels full of coffee grounds. That was also the cupboard my kids and I labeled "The fruit fly cupboard"! Speaking of kitchen towels, you will need to bring your own. Oh! And bring hand soap. Not a bar in the house. Oh! And bring your own TP. For these three bathrooms, only two small rolls of one-ply tissue supplied. I can see there is a new deck on the main level, but the upper deck off of my room where we all gathered for family time at sunset, we had to be extra cautious of the rusty nails which were backing their way out of the wooden planks. Again, a common occurrence, but at the beach we are used to being barefoot. I would not recommend it here. Not sure when the grass gets cut. We have had perfect weather here, and I can see other back yards are well maintained. Not sure what the schedule is for this property. The grass/weed combination is over a foot high now, and there is still a few days left of our week! Way overpriced for condition!

Owner's Response: Sloane Realty Vacations strives to provide our guests the most enjoyable visit possible. All of our homes are individually owned; and, each owner provides the furniture and accessories for their individual taste. We provide special pricing from vendors for such items as the bedding, and recommend mattresses be replaced on a regular schedule. However, we cannot require it. If we had known that the TV remotes were not functioning correctly, our maintenance department would have shown how to operate, as every TV is different. It is unacceptable to have left the grocery bags in the kitchen, as our cleaning crew is instructed to remove all grocery bags when cleaning; and we apologize for that. This owner has been working to update and improve his home this spring. Unfortunately, all the items on his list did not get completed before the summer. We regret that this was an unpleasant experience, and would appreciate the opportunity to provide a much more pleasant experience in the future.
