Ask a questionAbout Lisel Woods
We are diverse family group of outdoors people, architects, artists, business owners, health care professionals, travelers, teachers, and nature lovers. This place is a special retreat where the dogs can roam freely, sandy feet on the floor are no problem, and the warm summer afternoons fade into cricket filled evenings. We live in Colorado, Minnesota, and Jamestown and have raised our kids with frequent and much anticipated visits to this special place. We offer the properly for rental to enable us to maintain the unique character and feel of the place for the next generation.
Why Lisel Woods chose The Dumplings
This is a family owned and managed property that has been our second home for four generations. We love the nearby beaches, watching the boat traffic, and the causal summer lifestyle. Jamestown offers easy access to shopping and services in a friendly small town atmosphere. This place has been a family gathering spot hosting weddings, reunions, and many guests over the years. Long distance sailing crews have begun and ended voyages here. This house was originally part of a large estate. It was built in the 1800's as a horse stable with servant quarters on the upper floor. Later it was converted to a garage for 'horseless carriages'. In the 1960's it was remoded into a summer residence. The house was recently reconstructed adding a full foundation, full building insulation, an updated kitchen, new bathroom, and a full interior refinishing.
What makes this House unique
This house is literally tucked away and invisible from the public roads yet it is only minutes from Jamestown center. The property has a series of pathways leading to private beaches and spectacular viewpoints. The tri-tone sound of a bell bouy just offshore blends with the rush of waves breaking on the rocks to create a calming background. Occasional fog, warm sunny afternoons, and numerous songbirds make you feel as if you are in a remote special place. There is a full service boat yard located just down the road. A five minute walk will bring you to a large state park frequented by fishermen, scuba divers, and families. Standing on top of the hill you can see the famous 'Clingstone' house built by Joseph Wharton in the 1920s on a tiny island just offshore. The yachting center of Newport is visible in the background.
