Fishing is allowed from the beach, and the Island has a crabbing dock. Right across the Harbor River Bridge, Gay Seafood brings in fresh fish and shrimp. Less than a quarter mile in the other direction is another long established casual restaurant, Johnson’s Creek Tavern, known locally as JCT. A combination bar and restaurant, you will find people of every age there enjoying meals or drinks indoors or on the outside decks, or listening to the live music occasionally offered. Many other restaurant options ranging from fast food to fine dining are available on nearby Saint Helena Island, Lady’s Island, and in Beaufort.
Beaufort itself is 14 miles from Harbor Island (you will pass right through on your way to the Island).
