About Marilyn Blackburn

I live 25 minutes away and have had so much fun fixing up this cabin and making a pleasant retreat for people! I hope you come and spend a couple days taking in all that Granite Falls and Canyon Falls Cabin have to offer! You will never forget it!

Marilyn Blackburn purchased this cabin in 2011

Why Marilyn Blackburn chose Washington State

Granite Falls is 30 minutes from the big city and yet a world away! One stop light, and the gateway to year round enjoyment, so I knew when I saw this cabin that it was the perfect cabin, on the perfect spot above the river, in the perfect town!

What makes this cabin unique

I love this cabin for several reasons...the most obvious is when you look out the window, the river is rushing right past! It looks and sounds beautiful. The cabin was built in 2000 so it has all the features I want in terms of conveniences, but the setting in the forest invokes the rustic, outdoors feeling that I want.

Lovely Cabin

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is just far enough from the hussle and bustle of bigger cities that you can enjoy the nature. The bed was comfortable but very squeaky. The hot tub was a nice place to relax. Be prepared for gravel roads to get to the cabin (your car will get extremely dirty). The DVD collection is interesting, a little random, but you'll probably be able to find something to watch if you desire. The wifi works fine, but I had no cell reception (there is a landline at the cabin). Enjoy the drives in the area with your windows rolled down.

For those interested in how close you are to other amenities in the area... you have a couple Starbucks locations about 30min away, and shopping areas (like Seattle Premium Outlets) and other basic grocery shopping options, as well as more options for food. Seattle is about 1.5 hrs away with traffic.

The cabin does have a washer and dryer if needed, however I'd suggest bringing your own laundry detergent. I had a major allergic reaction to the laundry detergent that was at the cabin (something that has never happened before).

The Ice Caves hike was nice, it's not too challenging. It's really beautiful, if you had to choose just one hike this would be my recommendation.

Overall, we had a lovely time. I would definitely stay here again.

Gorgeous, peaceful, perfect

  • 5 of 5

Was the best vacation we've ever had. The pictures did not do it justice. You could literally hear the water flowing right outside the cabin, you could see it right off the porch, it was so calm and lovely. Everything was great. The only thing I didn't like was the box fan didn't really blow very well and it got a tad warm while we were there. We were however told that we chose the warmest time to go. Besides that everything was great. The binder you left was really cool and had so much information that you'd want to know. We will def be coming back

Owner's Response: Hi there...I am so glad you enjoyed the cabin! There is air conditioning though so I am sorry you didn't know that! We did have warmer than normal weather when you were here so I am sorry it got warm for you. We don't get very many really hot days in our area, but next time you come back, if its warm, remember you can cool it down! Marilyn
