Secluded Vineyard Hideaway

Bedrooms 2
Space 1,600 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms + Office, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4)

Leave the traffic and noise behind and escape to the Mendocino wine country. The quiet, little town of Hopland is nestled in the Russian River's Sanel Valley and is home to diverse selection wineries, all of which are within a short drive from each other. This is the perfect place for those looking to explore one of California’s most beautiful and less-traveled wine regions.

A nice alternative to a hotel, this 2 bed, 2 bath house is a secluded and peaceful vineyard hideaway, nestled at the base of Duncan Peak overlooking Terra Savia Winery's 35 acre Sanel Valley organic vineyard and Hopland.

The large, front yard awaits picnics and sunbathing. There is also a pool, and a hot tub. The master bedroom has a king size bed and a large bathroom which includes a spa tub for two. There is smaller bedroom with a queen size bed along with a separate reading/quiet room. The kitchen is spacious and fully equipped. The living room has a fully stocked wood-burning stove to keep things nice and toasty. Throughout the house there are numerous original works of art and handcrafted wood pieces and furniture by local artists.

About Yvonne Hall

We have lived in Hopland for over 12 years. We own and operate Terra Savia winery, Sanel Valley Vineyards and Olivino olive oil milling services. We are passionate about where we live and work and we relish every opportunity to share the beauty and slower pace of our community.

Yvonne Hall purchased this house in 2004

Why Yvonne Hall chose Hopland

When our winemaker decided to move last year we thought how lovely it would be to share the vineyard that he described as his large organic garden. It is such a secluded spot with terrific views of verdant hills it beckons you to relax.

What makes this house unique

The dark country nights invite you to gaze at the stars or enjoy your morning coffee out on the deck looking at the vineyard and surrounding wildlife. Join the flock of wild turkeys and stroll through the vineyard. Picnic by the pond just a short walk from the house. Soak in the hot tub while admiring the rosy light of sunset on the eastern hills.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"The house is great! The art is great! We love it!! Looking at the vineyard, drinking a glass of wine...can it get any better?!

Perfect retreat

Had a weekend getaway with another couple and our dog and this was the perfect place for us. Set away from everything, quiet, and relaxing. Already planning another trip!

We don't want to leave!

  • 5 of 5

Amazingly private and unique getaway. So wonderful to wake up and watch the sunrise over the vineyard while enjoying the Company of the "guardcats". We had a great time in the pool and Hopland was a perfect starting point for adventures across the area. After a week of travel up the Coast as a family of four, trying to make due in tiny hotel rooms, the Guest House was an oasis! We'll be back!

Unique and Charming Overall

  • 4 of 5

This property was overall a neat place to stay. You're truly separated from any other home by a huge vineyard, where you can see quail and other critters scurrying around. The house is well-maintained and the hot tub is a nice touch. There are a few odd things to consider, though: 1) two very cute cats live at this house and you're asked to feed them. I love cats so this was no big deal for me, but given how many people might be allergic or averse to cats, I thought this was an odd request. 2) The morning we were set to check out, the cleaning crew arrived and starting cleaning BEFORE we had officially checked out, so the late morning relaxation on the vineyard we planned was cut short. 3) On our drive up, we called to inquire about arrival info, as we hadn't been informed before then on the app, and were then told we needed to arrive by 5pm to get the keys from the owners. We were not told this before making our long drive, so we barely made it on time. Again, overall this place is really cool. I think the complaints listed above could be easily addressed by the owners for future guests.

Great little hideaway!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the guesthouse with another couple when we were in Hopland for a wedding. The two bedrooms are on opposite sides of the house, so we had plenty of privacy. The house is secluded and very peaceful, with great vineyard views. The kitchen is well equipped. Two cats patrol the property and are very friendly. If we ever find ourselves in Hopland again, this is where we'll stay!

Perfect spot for a wine country getaway

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the guest house (two couples and a baby) over the Fourth of July weekend and had a great time. The house is set in a beautiful spot with a perfect patio for morning coffee and happy hour with some of the delicious Terra Savia wines. Nothing beats drinking a glass of wine while overlooking the vineyards where those exact grapes are growing! The pool and hot tub were clean and ready to use. The guys had a great time fishing at the pond and caught several bass (bring bug spray). The home is very well taken care of and dutifully guarded by two fun cats - Lulu and Lala. The kitchen is well-equipped with basics, but would suggest that you bring any "must have" specific items for recipes. Overall a wonderful experience, and we'll be back!

Anniversary Weekend

  • 4 of 5

My husband, toddler son and I enjoyed a relaxing weekend along with his cousin and her husband celebrating our anniversaries (marriage and engagement). The house is huge with two bedrooms on opposite sides of the home to ensure privacy. The kitchen is huge and had all the things we needed to cook or barbeque. The pool wasn't heated but for the guys it felt good because it was hot outside. The hot tub was body temperature and felt good. The property is fenced in and secure; we left our dog outside as we went wine tasting. My favorite part was getting up early and going outside to sit on the deck to watch the sun rise over the vines. We had a wonderful weekend and would easily come back again to stay.
