Great rental personnel. Immediate attention to requests. Lots of room. Very spacious. Need to replace master bedroom mattress, and get some cookware for the kitchen but other than that - it was great!
The house was much nicer in person than in the photos and had a great layout for us, with plenty of beds in the guest bedroom so our kids could have a "sleepover" each night. The location could really not be better... super-close to the beach, just a short boardwalk to get there, busy Bahia Mar just north always with something interesting going on, and a nice quiet section of beach by the boardwalk. The pool could use some shade but was otherwise sooooo soothing after a long day on the beach. The Sea Turtle rescue, Birding Center, and nature boardwalk at the convention center are all easily walkable (and yes, there is a button so you can leave on foot via the front gate). Good dinner & dessert options are only a mile south on the main stretch, and no traffic lights to deal with.
Home is very nice & spacious. Beach is a short walk. South padre island is a great place to visit with lots of restaurants, bars, & shops. Beach is long & nice with good shells. We had a boat so we're able to explore the waterways. Weather was very nice the whole 3 weeks we were there. Great vacation spot overall!
The house was amazing! Marina from SPI Rentals was amazing and had great recommendations on where to eat and what to do. We've rented from a number of places but SPI by far exceeded expectations.
We had a mini family reunion of immediate family members. The house was true to it's photos. In fact, it is closer to the beach then the photos portray.
We had plenty of room and all the rooms are spacious. Unfortunately, the weather was not the best during our stay and I would have like to see some extra throw blankets in the living spaces and bedrooms for lounging..
I would also recommend having some board games, puzzles etc. in the house for dreary/rainy weather. A dvd player would have been great due to the time of the year and to watch holiday movies.
I would also fix the gate so that you can go out without a vehicle. The button did not work while we there.
There was really not much to do outside of the turtle farm and the bird center. We did end up horseback riding in the rain but it was fun.
Folks with kids ages 12-16 will find the kids bored at this time of year if the weather is bad. Although the house was great, the island was very desolate and very dirty. We tried to go eat fresh seafood and could not find one establishment that had fresh seafood.
All in all we had a great family visit.

We had a mini family reunion and the house was plenty spacious for all of us. The beds were very comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook all our meals. The patios/balconies were spacious as well.
Although the house was awesome, the weather was not. I would recommend adding a dvd player and some board games, etc. for when the weather forces you to be inside. I would also have like to see some throw blankets in the living areas and extra blankets and towels in the bedrooms. It was a bit chilly while we were there.
I would also recommend that they fix the gate so you can walk out of the complex. The only way we could get out was to drive out as the button for the gate was not working.
The area itself left a lot to be desired. I was surprised to find that although being on the Gulf of Mexico, there were no restaurants offering fresh seafood. Everything was frozen and farm raised. (Tilapia and Basa)??? on the Gulf of Mexico?
The activities in the area for the time of year we were there were very limited. We did go horseback riding in the rain. Other than that for a week stay, we got really bored. This is where the board games, dvd player, access to netflix, etc. would have come in handy.
I was very disappointed the Island itself but the house was great!
