2 Bedroom Home with numerous additional convertible sleeping options, 2 1/2 bath
Are you looking for a unique experience in a beautiful Colorado setting? The Mountain Dome Home is located on 35 scenic acres in a gated ranch with good road maintenance (very important in Colorado). This home has been featured in The New York Times newspaper in the Escape Section, Mother Earth News magazine and the local Canon City Daily Record newspaper due to it's unique design and artistic details, including full murals in the loft and domed ceiling areas painted by a local artist, and it's decor of mountain lodge and western themes.
You will find beautiful views, modern amenities and lots of privacy in this clean, cozy, artistic home. The home is stocked with most of the basics you will need during your stay including basic condiments in the kitchen, coffee, tea, hot cocoa & popcorn as well as all sorts of toiletries you may have forgotten.
There are 2 sleeping areas plus 2 sofas and 2 cots available if needed. The loft bedroom has a queen bed, closet and a 1/2 bath that we refer to as the 'loft outhouse' due to it's unique decor of barn wood vanity and faux painting that makes it appear old. This sleeping area has a full mural of Colorado mountain scenery and full sky in the domed ceiling area fully viewable from this lofty abode.
The second sleeping area is in the downstairs lower walkout level. The western 'cowboy' bedroom has a lower double bed with a twin upper bunk, closet, and a desk in the corner with cowboy notes and envelopes to send a message to someone about your adventures. There is a guest book located on the desk and we welcome your comments. There is a full bath across from this bedroom with a claw foot 'slipper' tub with a hand held shower head for cleaning up after a hard day.
The rest of the lower level has a family room, leather sofa for watching TV w/ satellite(separate controls) and a cowboy bar complete with saddle barstools, and a Denver & Rio Grande 'G' scale train running at ceiling level around the entire room. The decor is rustic but comfortable and cozy.
The main level of this unique cabin has a TV room w/ plush leather reclining sofa, DISH satellite and surround sound, a stereo sound system with 6 disc player cd that can be piped through speakers installed in any and all rooms in the cabin and all outside deck and patio areas, a sitting area to enjoy the fire in the wood stove, a full kitchen with a solid granite sink to wash the lodge inspired dish wear (sorry no dishwasher), full size refrigerator and smooth top range. The main level also has a bath with a custom built (room for 2) lodge inspired shower (tiles w/ bears, moose and pine cones), a stained glass window to let in the light from the window and a handheld as well as a rainfall shower head for full relaxation.
This home has been painstakingly built over the last 10 years by our own hands and we are excited to share it. We have had family, friends, acquaintances and customers stay here over the past few years and here are some of the comments we have in our guest books:
' What a wonderful home in the mountains you have! My words are inadequate to explain the charm and warmth and especially the love and labor you have spent.
We thank you for sharing your little piece of heaven with us!'
Gary & Sandy, September 2003
' My oh my, this is certainly a dream home in beautiful Colorado.'
C.J., July 2004
' Love, love, love it! So talented you are! No wonder your cabin is featured in all the magazines. Better than Hearst Castle.'
Nancy, July 2004
' Love your 'cabin'. It was hard to take everything in and I'm sure we missed some corner. Very unique and well done!'
Jane & Jerry, August 2004
' Thank you for opening your 'cabin' to us. It is AWESOME! We hope it will be your 'happy place' for years to come.'
Larry & Barb, August 2004
' If your cabin was in the Parade of Homes it would be winner #1! My first impression was to jump on the back of a horse and ride off into the sunset. Yee Haw! (Think it was the saddles at the bar).
Thanks for inviting us.
Jean & Joe, September 2004
' What a wonderful experience to see your home. Detail - Detail - Detail! All unique and one-of-a-kind. What a treat to tour such a treasure.'
Renee & Darrell, July 2006
' We're so grateful for the opportunity you gave us to have a family vacation! We all had a blast! The cabin is B*E*A*U*T*I*F*U*L! The attention to detail is amazing! '
The Bunch Family, July 2007
' Thank you so much for inviting me to your amazing cabin! I had such a wonderful weekend! Thank you for taking such good care of us. Your cabin is beautiful - I wish I didn't have to go home! '
Tripte, May 2010
' Thank you for such a wonderful stay here in your fabulously decorated cabin. As one of the first guests in the 'Cowboy Room' I strongly recommend taking a long, hot bath to soothe your muscles after a day on the slopes. Once again I had a great time out here and look forward to coming out many more times! '
Cheryl, January 2011

About Pat Miller
Norm & Pat Miller live in Colorado Springs, CO. Pat is a marketing consultant for small & medium size businesses in Southern Colorado. She also manages their vacation rental. Norm suffered kidney failure and received a donated kidney from a friend in 2013. He is now back to work full time. We enjoy building, remodeling our many projects over the years, and creating unique detailed hand made items of wood. We also enjoy traveling with our travel trailer.
Pat Miller purchased this House in 2001
Why Pat Miller chose Cañon City
We chose our property of 35 acres in this beautiful area of Colorado due to it's easy commute time from Colorado Springs where we live and work. We fell in love with the scenery, tranquility and security of the gated ranch area of Delilah Peak. We have spent the last 11 years building our dream cabin in the mountains on the vacant 35 acre lot and love the accessibility, privacy and peaceful area.
What makes this House unique
We love that the ranch is gated and only accessible to owners and invited guests, has access to over 10,000 acres of BLM land for hiking, ATV riding and hunting, and has well maintained roads for easy access year round. It is 35 minutes to Canon City where you have access to shopping & restaurants. It is also a short drive to Cripple Creek, Salida and about an hour from Colorado Springs.

Paradise in the mountains!
Wow... Words don't really do it justice! This cabin, although it is off the beaten path, is well worth the drive! The Miller's had it decorated so beautifully for Christmas! They spared nothing in their attention to detail. You can tell they poured their heart and soul into the building of this vacation retreat. Thank you!
We are so happy you enjoyed our "special place" with your family for Christmas!
We never tire of hearing these similar experiences from our guests.
Not your father's dome house!
Older Coloradans remember the 70's dome houses with mixed feelings. Not so with this modern mountain dome house. It a fascinating study of art, craftsmanship and decor. You are constantly discovering fine touches days after you arrive. It has fairly easy access inside and out as long as you can handle stairs. The home is well stocked with linens and utensils. It is a true gem that I feel lucky to have shared!
Beautiful and comfortable.
We have stayed at the Mountain Dome House two years in a row. Everything about it is lovely with a woodland charm and full of all modern conveniences. If you like breathtaking mountain views, this is the place for you.
Great Family Getaway
We absolutely loved our stay at the Mountain Dome Home! The Millers have gone above and beyond to ensure an amazing retreat.
I'm not as convinced about VRBO and HomeAway though. Shortly after reserving this stay we had multiple fraudulent charges on our credit card (which I rarely use). We had to cancel the card, which is always a hassle. We likely will not get our deposit back because I will not give them another card. I don't blame the Millers at all for this.
Beautiful home!! Lots of Extras!!
We loved staying in this home. Our 2 grandsons (21 & 15) did, too! Lots of extras are included. We could tell that this home was built with love. It is WAY out in the country - so if you do not like remoteness, then this is not for you! Be prepared for NO cell service, and somewhat limited wifi. Looking for a great get away? Then, this is it!!
Very clean & well kept. Decorated to a "T" as a country cabin.
We loved the cabin & our whole stay. We were able to watch hummingbirds, chipmunks & a doe & her twin fawns right from the deck. The stay was very relaxing, and the cabin was so comfortable!
