About this property
Water Wheel Victorian- 4BR
Built in 1906, The Water Wheel Victorian blends historic charm with a relaxed, updated style. Full of personality, it features a glazed sunporch, a well-equipped kitchen, and four comfy bedrooms (3 queen, 1 king). The enclosed back yard includes optional seating and a propane BBQ grill.
Near Sequoia Park Zoo, redwood forests, & beaches. Walkable to the bay, Henderson Center, and Old Town for dining & shopping. 15-min to Cal Poly Humboldt.
Optional Queen-size air mattress and pack 'n play. Each room has a TV- (Netflix/Hulu/Disney/ESPN/Prime)
Please be aware of these old home quirks before booking: (1) Small bathrooms- especially the upstairs bathroom, which has a pitched roof so tall people can't stand all the way upright in some areas of the room. (2) Steep stairs. The upstairs features the laundry, one bathroom, and two bedrooms. Please take the stairs cautiously, always using the handrail and supervising children as needed. Entry into the home also requires navigating two stairs. (3) Narrower doorways: some doors are less than the standard 36" width of modern homes. (4) Small dining area. Best for up to 6 people, additional 4 seats at the bistro tables on the sunporch. Guests have unrestricted access to the entire home minus a very small storage room.
There is lot's of free and unrestricted street side parking, but no driveway.

My family had a wonderful stay at the Water Wheel House in Eureka! Very nice bedrooms and bathrooms, well stocked kitchen and nice neighborhood. Cody was a great host! Thank you!
This house is wonderful! It’s very comfortable and has everything we needed. We especially appreciate the coffee and the Keurig. The waffle maker was a nice surprise also!! We couldn’t figure out the tv for a football game but Cody came right over and got the game on for us:)
We had a lovely time staying at the Waterwheel in Eureka. It was a great location for our needs and we found it very comfortable. The host was responsive with anything we needed. There were snacks for us as a little bonus. We hope to stay again in the future.
Property was great, well set up with everything we needed. The backyard was not enclosed, we found loose boards that we used to block the holes. Our dogs did get out 1 morning.
This was a beautiful home. It has 4 spacious bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. We had a larger group so having 2 bathrooms was a very nice feauture. Cody was definitely flexible with check in times for my family. He also responded very quickly when I had any questions. The location of the house was nice because it was close to any shopping center but far enough away to not hear the traffic. It also was not very far from the beach. I would definitely recommend this house to anyone and would most likely stay there again.
I am a local Eureka resident. I love the outdoor scene in Humboldt, and enjoy white water kayaking, deep sea fishing, distance hiking, and disk golf. Frequent projects to restore and upgrade this 1906 home is a labor of love, and I'm grateful to my vacation renters who help make it possible!
Why they chose this property
The Water Wheel and sun porch are the standout features of the home. It's a quirky old place, and I try to fuse the Victorian charm with modern upgrades for comfort and practicality.
