House, 3 Bedrooms + 3 Baths, 4 Baths on beautiful St. Joe Bay
BayDream is the dream home I always wanted. Many unique ideas went into the building of this beautiful place. In fact it was not built with the intention of renting at all. Having aging parents who live a few hours away and need my help has made it necessary for me to be away a great deal of time. So rather than sit empty I'd like to have people in my home who will appreciate and take good care of it. The living area and kitchen is open and state of the art. A HUGE island with 5 Barstools seperate the kitchen from living. The wall that faces the Bay is called a NANA Wall and looks like beautiful french doors when closed, but open to walk out or open it up completely so the living room is open to the 13 X 24 covered porch! There is also a screened porch, 12 X 29 featuring a wood burning fireplace and outdoor kitchen. There are two additional gas fireplaces, one in the living room and one in the Master Suite. The Master has a beautiful plantation king size bed. The second floor is all Master Suite. The other two bedrooms are down stairs on the main level, each with its own bathroom. One king and one queen bed. Many, Many more features and too many to describe. If more space is required, look at my rental VRBO 255237 to combine with BayDream and sleep 12. These two rentals are one half acre apart and share the 500' dock.
Sitting on St. Joseph Bay, you will not find any place more beautiful. Bring your boat and leave in the water for your stay at the 500' dock on the bay. Sit on the hugh covered porch and see Osprey, Bald Eagles....yes Eagles not just one every now and then...it is a Birder's Paradise! Bring your fishing boat or kayak and enjoy the broad expansive Bay...or ride over to Blacks Island.
Grab your beach chair and go to the beach via the public beach access across the street and a few yards to right of driveway, ride your bikes, or walk the dog on our wonderful bike path newly completed. The State Park is only a mile and a half away.
For a great day trip, Panama City is a little over an hour away, Appalachicola is a 20 minute drive,Tallahassee 2 hours.

Now semi retired, I previously enjoyed a career in Sales and Sales Management. Bought property at the Cape in 1994 and spent a lot of time day dreaming about what I'd like to build...thus the name 'Bay Dream' because it is just that... my bay dream.
Owner purchased this House in 2005
Why Owner chose Port St. Joe
This is my personal home, although I do have another house next door that is a vacation rental I manage as well. For many years it was my dream to be able to live in this beautiful paradise. But, it has become necessary to help care for my parents 55 miles away. Now, it is practical to offer BayDream to others for part of the year.
What makes this House unique
My dog Max(Standard Poodle) and I love taking sunset walks on the beautiful and uncrowded beaches or bike path. It seems that I always have a project going and love looking for that perfect something in the quaint shops of Appalachicola or Port St. Joe. In summer, well that's boating season and also scallop season. Not sure what is more fun catching fish, crab, and scallops, or EATING them! Great place for entertaining friends and family. Bay dream is the perfect place for just that!

My mom called and asked me to plan a beach vacation for my parents, grown siblings with spouses, and pets. I began looking in Cape San Blas knowing it would have activities to entertain everyone and pet friendly beaches. It did not disappoint!
This lovely home sits right on the water with a long dock out over the bay. I say "home" because it truly feels like home. The decorations, the stocked kitchen, and personal photos seem as if Patsy has giving you the keys to her home while she's simply out of town.
There are several steps leading up to the house and then up to the master suite. We intended to allow our parents to stay in the master suite, but after seeing the stairs decided to give them the option of staying on the main floor. However once my mom saw the master suite with a private balcony and view of the bay she said the climb was worth it!
The bay is shallow and the eel grass is thick. It was full of scallops and this is where you want to be when the season opens!
The beach is across the road but we found the prettiest area by going to the public access about 1 mile further up the Cape. I had Smiley's Beach Rental deliver chairs and umbrellas. They set them up on the beach and left them for our use all week. This is a must and makes time at the beach so enjoyable.
The vacation was wonderful! We snorkled and fished in the Bay, rode waves in the ocean, saw turtle tracks and a nest being recorded (it was egg-laying season and several came up the beach during our stay). We'd all return to this lovely home for good home-cooked meals (thank you mom), talk about our adventures until late in the evening, go to sleep in comfortable beds, and do it all again the next day.
Other perks include: Outdoor shower, ice maker, large decks, screened porch with loungers, incredible bay view, outdoor dining area, televisions in every room with great reception (perfect for a rainy day), pet friendly, and very responsive owner.
I've been coming to the Cape for years and each time stayed beach side, but this limits the Cape experience. The Bay is wonderful and holds so much activity for all ages. You'll go to the beach if you stay bayside, but you may not think about the bay if you stay beachside and you'll lose half the real fun of the Cape!
We left behind sub-zero temperatures and record snowfalls to relax and recharge at this beautiful property and location. We started each morning with gorgeous views of St. Joseph Bay, all showcasing the bay in all its moods. Most days included at least 1 walk on the dog-friendly beaches of the gulf where our little dogs had lots of friendly encounters -- and so did we. The white sand beaches were clean and uncrowded, great for walking miles in either direction and even stopping off for some ice cream or coffee at the Trading Post before strolling back. We had lots of ways to fill our days - from the Gumbo Cook-off in Mexico Beach, the art gallery on St. George Island, hiking in St. Joseph Bay State Park, and lots of visits to the fishing village of Apalachicola. Don't miss eating at Coneheads on Cape San Blas, Indian Pass Raw Bar, and both The Owl and Up the Creek Raw Bar in Apalachicola.
Bay Dream itself was definitely a home away from home. The kitchen is well equipped, the laundry room handy, the beds all very comfortable, the screened porch private and relaxing, and the the decks, each with a swing, both great spots for watching the birds and having coffee or a glass of wine. Cell phone service on the Cape is sometimes a bit spotty, but with all the opportunities to connect with nature, just relax and don't worry about it.
Patsy (the owner) was great to work with, very laid back and friendly yet quick to take care of any questions or concerns. She clearly wants her guests to enjoy their stay on the Cape. The lane to the property had been recently re-rocked as she had indicated, and she quickly sent someone to fix the outside dryer vent that blew off in a rather spectacular thunderstorm one night.
We ended our month-long stay with a stunning Gulf sunset, a reminder of all the beauty we enjoyed on the Cape. We would definitely recommend this property and this destination. We will be back. Thanks for sharing your home with us, Patsy, and helping us meet Chip, Robert, Louise, and Maggie the Westie, all great neighbors!
Beautiful & Relaxing!
This is a beautiful home with wonderful access and views of the bay. Being able to leave the boat at the dock is the only way to go to the cape! We found scallops right off the dock. Patsy was very quick to respond and resolve any questions or concerns. We would highly recommend this property to others and will return next summer!
Wow, what a great place to stay. Thank you for sharing your house with us. From the location to the furnishings, this by far was the nicest house we have rented in the years we have been coming to Cape San Blas. The whole family enjoyed having the dock and the access to the bay. We would highly recommend this house to anyone!
Eddie and family,
Thanks so much for your kind review. Hope you can come back soon and stay a little longer! Look forward to having you again!
"If It Were For Sale We Would Have Bought It"
Family Trip, with Grandma and the Kids couldn't have been more perfect!! Usually we stay beach front, but this year we decided to try bay side instead. All I can say is, we were smitten by not only the bay but the house was by far the most beautiful home we've rented! The pictures on the website DO Not describe the decor, detail and charm of this home! The beds were the most cozy and comfortable we've ever had! Not to mention the Kitchen and the Bathrooms, Just Gorgeous! Oh My Gosh, and the Outdoor Fire place was one of the highlights every evening! The property was so lush and gorgeous! Our kids had the best time playing in the bay and it was just wonderful being able to watch them from the Huge Porch off the back of the living room, which by the way opened up completely to the outside since it had a 30ft. door that folded open so that your indoor space became your outdoor space, just Spectacular!! We will be bayside from now on and more than likely, if it's available we will be staying here every time!!
I really could go on and on....
Thank You for letting us rent this Amazing home!
BayDream is just that. The pictures do not do it justice. Our family of 5 was very comfortable. Kitchen and baths were amazing. The view from the living room was awesome. Every detail was perfect. The bay and dock are right out back. Patsy was great to work with, made us feel very welcome in her beautiful home. We had arranged to have kayaks delivered for our bay exploration. Unfortunately the weather was less than ideal thanks to tropical storm Debbie. We highly recommend this property and hope to return to BayDream next year.
