Awesome Casa Polo - In The Sweetest Town In Mexico, San Pancho

Sleeps7
Bedrooms 3
Bathrooms3
Property type house
Minimum Stay 5 nights

Overview

About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 2-7), WIFI, Plunge Pool, garden, 2 terraces

Casa Polo is a sweet home in the fishing village of San Pancho (officially: San Francisco) on a lazy cul-de-sac . Designed to be a haven with three primary concerns, Casa Polo has privacy, layers of public spaces and a passive cooling design.

* Note: There is wifi. All new upgraded mattresses!

*Two king master suites have dedicated baths, closets and privacy.

* Queen bedroom with twin bunk above offers great sleeping flexibility for adults or kids.

*There are two second-floor decks, one with chaises -private for the master suite and one overlooking life in the lane, with charcoal BBQ, benches and a picnic table. These are great for reading, sunning, eating or partying.

*The kitchen/dining overlook the living room: both overlook the cooling plunge pool with small deck.

Older children are very welcomed,. Due to unprotected stairwell and ladder, the house is unsuitable for toddlers and rambunctious kids (and rambunctious adults :-).

San Pancho is wonderful for people who love the ocean without the overwhelm of tourists or refinery. The beach itself is 1.8 miles long of beautiful white sand. Near main street, the beach has clusters of people where a few local restaurants serve lunch, dinner and drinks. In either direction the beach is unpopulated except for New Year's and Easter. On the left end is great surf and fishing pangas. You can ask fishermen to take you deep sea fishing. Occasionally the national Mexican surf championships is here. At the right end is the occasional surf caster or boogie boarder.

We love our small mixed neighborhood of friendly folks, both Mexican and Gringo. Our cul-de-sac has a particularly relaxed feeling while still giving an authentic Mexican experience. We walk or bike (rent) everywhere. The ocean is a ten minute walk and almost everything you could want is between here and there: wonderful restaurants, taco stands, the EntreAmigo community center, shopping, bars, pilates classes and soccer field. Las Huertas Golf Club is 3/4 mile away: they rent clubs for both men and women. Just walking to the ocean, taking a swim and having lunch under a palapa near the beach is our idea of fun. My husband has discovered mountain motorcycle touring. I enjoy yoga classes and I'm just experimenting with SUP surfing. We love both cooking at home and the amazing restaurants here. Our kids love surfing. A favorite part of the day is at sunset when locals and gringos come together on the beach with babies or margaritas in tow. Horses go by for a sunset riding tour. Eyes are peeled for birds, whales, and butterflies while sipping cold drinks and watching the friendly activity.

The San Pancho Music Festival is a huge draw the last weekend each February. It is a true community affair from school kids to world class performers. It is organized by musician and recording legend Charles Eller - think Putumayo Records. Amazing statistic: the owners of 3 American recording studios own houses in tiny SP. In 2017 the International Swing Break week was held in San Pancho in April with beginners to professional lessons, demonstrations and open party for all. I was smitten and am signing up for 2018.

Exploring the varied coastline is engaging with unique villages, jungle ruins, natural hot springs, a village where prime surf is reachable only by boat, and farmers markets, just to name a few. Sayulita is great for night life; Punta Mita for snorkeling, whale watching &, fishing; La Penita for its Thursday morning market, and Puerto Vallarta for everything city.

A huge bonus while at Casa Polo is our multi-talented and bilingual manager, Abigail. Through her you can arrange in-home massages, foot reflexology, cooking, private yoga or cooking classes, taxi and delivered groceries. You can ask her for references for bike rentals, tours and more. She is a talented chef and massage/health practitioner. In case you have an overflow of friends wanting to be nearby, she also has an adorable cassita on the first floor of her house.

Why Dorothy Reilly chose Nayarit

After buying a spectacular seaside property 3 mi. out of town to build our dream house, we planned to first build a spec house in the village to fund construction of our dream house. To our surprise, when Casa Polo was complete, we discovered we loved living in the village more than ocean side & now our seaside lot is going on the market.

What makes this house unique

Lots of privacy, great manager, plunge pool, close to EntreAmigo community center, end of cul-de-sac.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Happy New Year's greetings.

Please forgive the tardiness of this note- somehow the re-entry was more challenging than ever!

This is, no doubt, because both Michael and I had such a wonderful time in San Pancho. While we'd be in the town about 12 years ago- to have pizza- we never took in the big picture. What a lovely town, with such spirit and friendliness. I cannot wait to return.

We loved EntreAmigo and visited several times to drink in the culture and see the close interaction of both natives and "gringos". Adored the recycled "art" and the crafts and all the efforts being made there to educate and nurture a real sense of community. We drove to Sayulita one day and scurried away in horror at what that sweet town has become- yikes!

We loved your gorgeous house and were so comfortable there. We spent countless hours on the upper deck reading, eating and enjoying the view.

We're especially grateful to Abi and Carlos for their attention and friendship throughout our stay.

Thank you for all that you did to make our stay such a memorable one. We hope to be back soon.

beautiful casa

  • 5 of 5

Every angle of Casa Polo is interesting and beautiful, with hand plastered colored walls and straw mat-textured ceilings. The casa was open to its green and flowery courtyard and we were very comfortable. The manager, Abigail, was very helpful, friendly and available.

The village of San Pancho/San Francisco was small and friendly and we loved walking the length of the main street to the beach, plenty of colorful buildings and plenty of small shops and places to eat and drink. A delightful change from big Puerto Vallarta, well worth the trip.

Family vacation to San Pancho

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Casa Polo for two weeks over the Christmas and New Years holidays with a group of six. Everyone raves about Sayulita, and it was fun to go visit, but we preferred the town of San Pancho with its nice restaurants, beaches, and culture. Everything about our stay was perfect! Abi is an excellent house manager and provided us with all of the information we needed before and during our trip. The house was well-provisioned with the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. We took advantage of the well-stocked kitchen, as we enjoy cooking as a group. The house is about a 15 minute walk to the main San Pancho beach, but we appreciated the fun walk through the main street in town. New Years Day we ate an excellent meal at the Mar Plata restaurant. It is worth the extra effort to venture off the main street - the location was beautiful and the food was very good. Take the advise to the explore the beached north of town - they are hidden gems!

Very Unique

  • 3 of 5

The design of the house is so unique. Part of it was indoors and part of it outdoors. The Windows and sliding door opened up to make the house very cool and comfortable. It is three bedrooms and three bathrooms. We were amused that two of the bathrooms were open...no ceiling. You needed the ladder if you were going to sleep in the twin bedroom. The doors, picnic table, coffee table....all were made out of old old wood, which added to the unique flavor of the house. The house was decorated very cute. It was about a 16/18 minute walk to the beach. We felt very comfortable walking in the middle of the road/street of San Francisco, Mexico, at night time. I felt there should have been a table/shelves in the master bedroom for luggage/clothes. There was an area in the bathroom to hang clothes and a few shelves, which we had for our toiletries. I don't know if it was the mattress pad on the bed in the master bedroom or not, but this was not my favorite bed on our trip. Would we stay there again? You bet.

Owner's Response: Loved your suggestion, David, for extra surfaces in the upper master suite and we are drawing up a design for that right now. Will look into making the bed softer too. So pleased that you enjoyed the coolness and inside/outside quality of Casa Polo. And we certainly hope to see you down here again in the future. PS - New plans for the bunk room are to convert the lower bunk into a queen sized bed and leave the upper bunk just in case. Bunk ladder still will be required.

Beautiful casa in San Pancho

  • 5 of 5

I bring down groups to travel in Mexico all the time and I have to say, this was one of my all time favorite houses we've ever stayed in! It is beautiful, quaint and a block off the one Main Street of San Pancho. It offers indoor/outdoor living, Mexico style. If you have a group of about 5-6 people or a family, I would highly recommend renting Casa Polo.

Always a delight

  • 5 of 5

A wonderful spot in a delightful village. We've been coming to San Pancho for nearly a decade and look forward each time to our return to Casa Polo - a simple, elegant, architectural gem and perfect base from which to explore the charms of San Pancho and the wonders of the Riviera Nayarit.
