Your Montreat adventure begins at this delightful 6-bedroom house. With 1 king bed, 3 queen beds, 2 twin beds, 2 bunk beds, 1 full bed, and 1 sofa bed, there's plenty of space for all your guests. Immerse yourself in the charming atmosphere of this quaint property, complete with a fitness area , 2 washing machines, iron, heating, hair dryer, WiFi, and AC. The 4 bathrooms offer a soaking bathtub with a woods view and hair dryer for your convenience . Enjoy your time in Black Mountain at our gorgeous house. This house is nestled in the woods creating a treehouse feel. Twin water heaters for long showers double ovens for big family meals and three parking spots. Remote feel but an 1/8 of a mile to Lake Susan. The home has large decks to relax on and a screened porch with a day bed for napping or spending the night! Driveway goes directly to house for easy entry.

The house layout worked well. Children loved the game room and adults loved the kitchen. There are a lot of stairs so make sure children are stair proofed, i.e. can navigate on their own or are supervised

Nice house with all the “tools” needed for cooking and meal preparation. The only thing that needs work or replacement is the microwave. Never met our host, instructions were clear and helpful. The biggest challenge was parking. Only room for 3 cars and we had 5. We enjoyed our time together as a family!

Great house and location. Fully stocked kitchen. No window treatments, but we managed well. Neighbors did take over a parking space, but long driveway accommodated our group.

Great Stay!

My friends and I enjoyed our stay at this property! The house was clean and comfortable, and the location bucolic. The house does share a driveway with the neighboring house; however, the neighbors were friendly. Host was great throughout our trip. Highly recommend!

Great place to celebrate Thanksgiving

My family - 3 adult siblings, their spouses and children — for Thanksgiving. This house was the perfect place for such a gathering. Plenty of bed space and more than one place for people to hang out and socialize. Would have enjoyed the great deck and other outside spaces if it had been warmer. It’s hard to please a big group, but I think we’d all vote to return for the next gathering.

Beautiful home, scary driveway

Very comfortable home with very adequate supplies in the kitchen etc. could use a couple of saucepans of different sizes though. Lots of stairs which was a problem for nocturnal bathroom visits. We were all older adults so it was a problem sometimes. Driveway isn’t wide enough and only can hold three cars. If you look under the driveway, the dirt has fallen away underneath and that is a little scary.

Thanks for staying! We appreciate your feedback! Will definitely restock the saucepans. As with most homes in Montreat, stairs and parking can be an issue. This home is not any worse than most as you can pull right up. To the front door to unload. I am a degreed civil engineer for a living, I built the house myself and can assure all there is nothing dangerous or scary about the driveway. It is narrow but well in place. Connected by over a ton of rebar, the section the reviewer is referring to is actually an engineered bridge. It is not washed out, it was designed to span two sections of bedrock.

Great stay in Montreat

We had a wonderful week in Montreat staying at the Grateful Den. There were plenty of beds for our large group, and the house was spotless when we arrived. The kitchen is large and had plenty of dishes, silverware, etc. We appreciated that there was a high chair for our 1-year-old. And communication with the host was very easy.The only negatives were the steep, shared driveway and the shared garbage can. We had to park three cars, one behind the other, and we were constantly shifting cars around. (We also used the parking spaces down the street.) If you only have a single car, that would not be a problem. And we felt that a house this large needed its own outdoor garbage can, not one shared with the neighbors.

Alice, You were great guests!! We hope you’ll come back! We agree! I am putting in a dedicated trashcan. So we don’t have to share with neighbors. The driveway is narrow and we have plans to widen next year. Our family has adopted a last car in first car out system. We leave all keys on bench at bottom of stairs. If your able to do this you’ll find it works great.
