Rose Cottage has a complete kitchen with an attached laundry. Also on the ground floor is the cosy living and dining area with wood fire and comfortable lounges. "Rose Cottage" ..second home..
Second year in Rose Cottage; 3 weeks this time.Me and my friends feel absolutely "at home" here..If Saignon is the most beautiful village in Luberon , Rose Cottage is the most pleasant, comfortable and cosy house in Saignon. Many many thanks Dear Peter and very special thanks to Joanna for every comfort and friendship you have provided.
Hasibe it is always a pleasure to have you stay at the cottage , you must almost feel like a local now. Many thanks
Idyll in Saignon
Rose Cottage in Saignon is as lovely in real life as it looks in the pictures, and was all we had expected, and we give it a big thumbs up. My college roommate and I celebrated our 50th anniversary of junior year in France there in early May, 2017 and loved our time in the village.
The cottage sits in a small fountain square at the end of a very narrow street, next door to a tea shop. It is private, the roses are beautiful, you can really sit outside at that little table and interact (or not) with the passerbys, and you feel like part of the community, which we found very friendly. We loved the Wednesday open air market and our lettuce purchase was admired by all we passed on our way home.
The accommodations were perfect - comfortable beds, heat if you needed it (we did some nights and mornings), a well-stocked map and brochure to help plan excursions, a washer and dryer, and a very workable kitchen. Joanna saw to any problems, such as replacing the electric tea kettle that died on day 2 of our visit, and she was a source of great information about the village - she'd lived there for several years - and kindly put up with all our questions.
There is no grocery in the village, but there is a good patisserie where we got bread and our morning croissants and wrangled some eggs. There is a bistro and three restaurants. Supermarches of Apt are 10 minutes or so down the hill. Walking about the village, especially in the evening light is enchanting, and there are many reminders of how life must have been - the communal laundry washing sites, and the ruins of the old fort at the top of the hill.
Parking is tricky. We did not figure out how to drive to the cottage, so parked in the lot by the school as you come into town and walked in to find the house. We got directions for driving in as close as we could to the cottage to unload the car from a kind neighbor, and also the advice that the lot by the church was a good place to park. We did like not having a lot of traffic driving by the house a lot. Saignon must be on a walking trail, as we saw a number of walkers with walking poles, and a stop for the bicycle tours, but other than that, it's pretty sleepy, which we loved.
Saignon is a village of cats; they were our only issue, as they considered our yard as fair play for their besoins. With some vigilence and cat repellant, we were able to keep them away for the most part. Annoying for sure, but beyond our control. We'd definitely come back
Hi Virginia, thank you very much for a lovely review and I am so pleased that you had such a wonderful experience at the Cottage, Saignon is really a charming village .Many thanks and all the best

Rose Cottage June 2016
We enjoyed our stay at Rose Cottage for a week in June 2016. The quiet village was a wonderful base from which to explore the region by a car which we had hired in Marseille. The village itself is a lovely quiet and peaceful location and the home was very comfortable and roomy for our family of 4. Peter, the owner, and Joanna, the manager, were always very helpful during the stay and were quick to respond to any of our questions before we arrived. It is useful to know you park in the common village carpark and it is a short and easy 4 to 5 minute walk from this free and well lit gravel carpark (just off the D48) in order to walk to Rose Cottage. It is possible to drive a small car right to the Rose cottage front door along the narrow cobble stone streets to drop off luggage; but it is really not necessary as the carpark is convenient and the streets are very narrow for cars. Rose Cottage is best found on google maps currently by searching for 'La Petite Cave' which seemed to be not operating while we were there. Rose Cottage is just across the cobble stone street from the La Petite Cave as a reference for where to go to. There is a lovely spring water fountain just outside from Rose Cottage and our children (aged 6 and 11) played for hours around this as well as on the quiet cobble stone street. We hardly ever saw a car which made the place a quiet, beautiful and safe area for our children to play. We most enjoyed driving to explore nearby markets in the morning, buying olives, baguettes, cheeses and coming back to Rose cottage enjoying local rose wine / tea and coffee on the little outdoor table just outside the front door. There are also a couple of bikes in the home and I enjoyed early morning rides around the southern French countryside. If you have a car, we found that the Intermarche (368 Avenue de la Libération, 84400 Apt, France) was best for purchasing food supplies. It was a wonderful stay at Rose Cottage for our whole family and I recommend it to anyone interested in staying in this beautiful and quiet medieval French village.
Rose Cottage, Saignon
Rose Cottage is a delightful, clean, well-appointed home to have as a base for touring the beautiful Luberon area. The cottage's location in the heart of Saignon ensures easy walking to restaurants and village sights. Peter, the owner, and Joanna, the manager, were very helpful both before and during our stay. We enjoyed our week in the cottage and would recommend it to those interested in holidayIng in a medieval French village.
