We had so much fun at this cabin!! My boys enjoyed see all different kinds of wildlife every day, swimming/fishing off the dock, finding crayfish under rocks, boat rides, fishing in the surrounding lakes, and especially feeding the little chipmunks all around the cabin. They also really enjoyed sleeping in the huge loft, they felt like they were in a treehouse. Truly one of our best vacations ever!! Highly recommend this rental cabin!
Thank you very much for the great review. If you make it next year there'll be two bottles of wine in the fridge. :-)
Little piece of heaven
John is a very gracious , helpful owner. Location is beautiful, peaceful, serene. I would highly recommend it.
We really enjoyed the cabin- light and airy with beautiful views from inside the cabin and the wrap around deck. Very private but also a short drive to Ely. We caught a variety of fish including Walleye and saw a lot of wildlife. Amazing sunsets! A very relaxing vacation.
Beautiful secluded cabin
Perfect getaway from busy life, very secluded beautifully located on Garden Lake, so quite and peaceful you’ll forget about all your worries the moment you walk in. Greatly stocked kitchen and very homey overall. Great communication with the owner who goes above and beyond to make your stay perfect. Highly recommend
This cabin was exactly what my family was looking for! We wanted something secluded, peaceful, and relaxing and this cabin provided all of that and more! John graciously welcomed us upon arrival and did a great job filling us in on everything we would need to know during our stay. The sunset views are spectacular from the large, lakeside windows and being far back within the bay made for a very quiet section of this lake. Our 15 month old daughter had a complete blast with swimming, canoeing, and playing ladder toss. We are definitely looking forward to the next time we can come and vacation here again!
Thank you very much. It was a pleasure to meet you and the family and I'm delighted that y'all enjoyed your week. Thank you again.

About John Kleive
Retired Vocational teacher / Welder / Welding Inspector / Peace Corps Volunteer / disabled veteran. The property (40 acres) was bought in '88 and the road (1 1/2 miles) was put in the following year. Two years later my boys and I had the cabin basically completed and its been my home ever since.
John Kleive purchased this Cabin in 1988
Why John Kleive chose Ely
With 6 children in our family, we found the BWCAW to be a terrific family vacation area that we could afford. I couldn't imagine a better area to retire to than a cabin on a lake in the Ely area.
What makes this Cabin unique
I think I enjoy the solitude, privacy and beauty of my small part of the lake most of all. It's a great place to relax, enjoy nature and simply enjoy and appreciate being alive.
