With 100 feet of beachfront, this is a great place to get away from it all on the north shore of Guanaja in the Bay Islands of Honduras. This beach house is located on 1.34 acres of land with beachfront, ocean views, and a dock. The house is positioned approximately fifty vertical feet above the sea level on a hill overlooking the beach.
The house has approximately 1600 square feet of living area with an 8' x 60' front porch and 6' x 40' back porch. There is one large bedroom, a huge bathroom and a great room and kitchen. The house is furnished, including washer, range, refrigerator/freezer, two futon couches, queen futon bed, pots, pans, dishes, couches, tables, chairs, and water cooler. The main island road is approx a 10 min walk from the house.
The house faces the north and is surrounded by the second largest barrier reef in the world which provides calm water that is great for fishing, snorkeling and diving. English and Spanish are spoken though out the island. Weather temp average 80’s most of the time, getting hotter in the summer but not much colder year round.
The scenic beauty in Guanaja is absolutely breathtaking. You will enjoy this secluded retreat from busy city life. Relax on the patio or on your own private beach in front of the pristine blue waters of the Caribbean. The reef is alive with all kinds of tropical fish - pop on your mask and jump in!

First, my review is not of the property, but the owner. I had inquired of availability, so when we decided to stay at a resort instead, I wrote Bob to let him know. He extended his offer for information, and corresponded with me several times knowing he had nothing to gain from the effort. His advise was helpful in our trip plans and we appreciate learning about the island from a resident's perspective.
We spent a week in this home on Guanaja. It was everything that the add said. Very relaxing. The house was nicely furnished, and clean. We hired a lady to cook Honduran meals for us, and they were delicious. We also hired a man to take us to Michael's rock to snorkel and on a tour of other areas of the island. snorkeling around the dock isn't very good, but you can swim to the reef, although its quite a swim, and could be a little dangerous because of passing boats. The people were very friendly. It is approx. 50 steps up to the house from the beach, so if you have limitations it could be difficult.
We stayed at this house for one full month. As soon as we stepped foot into this beautiful 1600 square foot home we were struck by all the beautiful Honduran Wood everywhere. The owner had arranged for my daughter and I to have matching guitars so we wouldn't have to go for a month without playing. This made us very happy. Many of the islanders were happy as well to hear live music being played in their little town of Mangrove Bite. The house has two screened in porches. The North porch looks out over the Caribbean and you can rock in your hammock while listening to the surf and the sounds of the jungle. This home is on about 2 acres with plenty of bananas, pineapple, coco nuts, mangoes and giant bread fruit. What every else you might need is just within a short walking distance to Mangrove Bite's several stores. The house has a big bathroom with a glassed in shower, giant bath tub for two and two sinks, a regular toilet and a bidet. The kitchen was my favorite because it was all open so I could entertain my guests and cook at the same time. The whole house is fully furnished with overstuffed couches in the living room with the Caribbean Life Style in mind. The master bedroom has two queen sized beds and one giant king sized bed. This room is air conditioned and completely sealed from the rest of the house so it stays nice and cool. Also provided is a Satellite dish TV plus wi-fi for the internet. Guanaja is more beautiful than anywhere I've ever been. The diving was amazing and getting around the Island was fun and adventurous. We hiked up to waterfalls and explored caves and hiked trails. The local people there in Mangrove Bite were lots of fun, very friendly and spoke English well. Everything was perfect and I can't wait to go back.
