Awestruck in Arch Cape

  • 5 of 5

My family of four thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this home on the Oregon Coast. This was our first time to the area and a spontaneous trip that I didn't book far enough in advance to get in the touristy area. I thought I wanted to be in Cannon Beach, but nothing nice was available. I "settled" for this location seeing all the great reviews and I mean, just look at the picture of that view. Obviously, it is laughable that this was something I "settled" for. We did drive to Cannon Beach a few times and it is gorgeous and Haystack Rock is not to be overlooked on a trip to this area, however, I am SO THANKFUL our home base was on this cabin nestled right in the heart of Oswald West State Park. The short drive on the gravel road to this home goes through beautiful forestry. Giant moss covered trees. Then when you are almost there and turn around a bend and see the ocean, it literally can take your breath away. I could have just lived on the deck. The beach is public, but might as well have been private. Very little traffic and a short, pleasant walk to get access from this home. You do need to traverse over some rocks and while doable in flip flops, more comfortable to do in sturdier shoes. On low tide you have a lot of sandy area and tide pools around rocks for crabbing. Even at high tide, you are on more rocks, but we were out there. Weather was flawless for us. Thanks, Mother Nature!

We spent some time hiking in Oswald West State Park (Cape Falcon, Short Sands Beach, Devils Cauldron). We spent a day at Tilamook Cheese Factory, We spent some time in Manzanita & Cannon Beach. Mostly, we enjoyed our deck and the cove beach behind the home.

I wouldn't give this place less than a 5 star rating, but some ideas to make it even more outstanding would be to add a fire pit to the deck area (there may be concerns with fire hazards and a reason it's not there - also a fire on the beach is better!), and maybe some tweaking to the downstairs shower head. Sometimes the pressure would get low because the hose is a bit kinked, but you can figure out how to unkink. We couldn't find a lighter for the grill, but it was only a short drive to grab one in Manzanita. A key is mail from homeowners. Keypad would probably be more convenient, but honestly, none of this bothered me. Just some "honey-do" items I'd have if it was my place. Games & puzzles are available and we utilized them.

Thank you, Sarah, for a lovely stay!

Perfect vacation home!!!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I rented this house for a week to celebrate my 60th bday and to spread my father's ashes in Tillamook. My cousins came up from California on Thursday to go to Tillamook with us. We all had a wonderful time. The house was roomy and comfortable and the views couldn't be better! The deck is huge. We were able to sit out on it to stargaze at night and to watch the ocean from sunrise to sunset. I really can't say enough good things about the house and location. It's a very short walk to access the beach. The beach goes on for miles and is beautiful. Lots of sand dollars. There was an eagle hanging out in a tree in the next lot the whole week. I looked at many houses in locations from Tillamook to Astoria and we were so happy with our choice. It was close to Cannon Beach and lots of different places to hike, but it was also far from the crowds. We are hoping to return to this magical place in the future.

Can't wait to come back!

  • 5 of 5

My parents, husband and our two kiddos were all so very pleased with our recent stay!

Everything was great, including the comfortable beds, nice showers and the clean, well stocked home. It accommodated our family perfectly.

Can't emphasize enough how beautiful the panoramic views are, espically from the massive deck. We'll be planning another visit soon!

Best place on earth!!!!

  • 5 of 5

I come here on a regular basis!!! I LOVE it!!! The views are priceless! the house is super clean, plenty of room, kitchen fully stocked, everything you would ever need, appliances, plenty of dishes, really great pots and pans and awesome knives, LARGE deck!! Sarah is so helpful and kind! Every time I walk in the door I feel like I am home. THEN I open the blinds the view takes my breath away. There are windows every place you look. Not just 180 degree views, but more like 220!! I almost don't want to write a review, I want it to be my hidden treasure. But I would be selfish to keep it to myself!!!! It is so hard to leave.

Amazing place!

  • 5 of 5

This is a very long overdue review. Our family of 4 actually visited here in October 2015. Coming from dry and hot Arizona, we were completely unaware of what the stormy Pacific northwest could be like! We stayed indoors all day during one of the worse storms we've ever witnessed. And LOVED it! The house kept us cozy as we stayed in pajamas, had hot chocolate, ate meals in and played games or watched movies all day. We had the best time watching the stormy ocean thru all the beautiful windows and our boys ran around on the gorgeous and huge deck whenever the storm let up a bit. The views are out of the world and the access to the beach is great! Sarah was very gracious with her correspondence and prompt communication. We don't know when we'll be back up in Oregon but would recommend this place without hesitations and would love to be back! Thank you Sarah!

Comforts of home with an awesome VIEW!!!

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at your beautiful beach cabin.  The views from every room are breathtaking. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare and serve meals. The beds were more comfortable than any hotel beds we have stayed at. Even down to the toilet paper you provided, was top notch.   Thank you also Sara for being readily available when we had a question, and for checking in on us upon arrival to the area.  Even the weather cooperated, Sunny & cool, not too hot, not too cold!! Thank you, thank you,  thank you for helping to make our vacation comfortable, relaxing and so enjoyable that we do not want to return home! ! We know we must leave,  but plan to contact you again when we revisit the Oregon Coast.

About Sarah Eraker

Long time Oregon resident - love the coast and Central Oregon desert!

Sarah Eraker purchased this house in 1990

Why Sarah Eraker chose Arch Cape

Falcon Cove is a private secluded area a few miles away from more developed areas including Cannon Beach and Manzanita. This is the best of both worlds - you can shop with 20,000 people in Cannon Beach and then you can go home and be by yourself in the private ambience of Falcon Cove.

What makes this house unique

Surf, hike, walk on the beach, and relax in this pristine wilderness area on an expansive deck situated over one of the most spectacular views of the Pacific ocean.

Guestbook comments from the owner

My friends and I loved this house! The location on a bluff overlooking the ocean was breathtaking. We enjoyed spending time on the deck looking at the beautiful views of the coastline and ocean. This was the perfect location for us to explore and hike the northern Oregon coast. The house was very clean, comfortable and well equipped. The owner was accommodating and helpful. Our only complaint was that we could not stay longer. Becky 6/24-27/17

Cannon Beach, Oregon located 6 miles north of our property is nationally know as one of the best beaches in the USA. Shopping, Restaurants, Theater, Christian Conference Center and of course walking the beach and looking at tide pools are just a few of the amenities of this wonderful area.

Having grown up in Oregon and spending many summer vacations at the coast, I was surprised to learn there are caves on the west side of Haystack Rock at minus tides. Volunteers in the summer will tell you about wildlife and sea life in the area around the rock.

So bring your boots and camera and come on down.

The Sand Castle Contest in June is now into its 51st year. Fun for the whole family.
