Great mountain vacation.

  • 5 of 5

So I believe any review should be complete by including the Pros and Cons to be credible given that no vacation is 100% perfect. But this one was sure close to it.

CABIN: PROS, very cozy and well appointed. CONS, the upstairs where there are 4 bunk beds is definitely for 10 and under kids. My daughters (17 and 18) although they fit in the bottom bunk beds (top ones are very close to the ceiling), the mirror and chest are about 4 feet high so they had to kneel to blow dry their hair. Sitting on the toilet, their knees prevented them from closing the door. Perhaps in the description of the property where "perfect for kids" is detailed, add something to state "small kids" instead.

FYI, there are 2 rooms on the 1st floor each with its own full size/queen bed and each with its own full bathroom. The loft has 4 bunk beds and 1/2 bath (no shower).

We also stayed when the temperature dropped to 10 degrees overnight and the heater could only get up to 66 degrees in the cabin so we had to throw on a couple more blankets.

LOCATION: PROS: Its on an absolutely beautiful large ranch with a horse I would visit every morning. He would see me walking to the fence from very far away and would immediately come over to have his back scratched just like my dogs. Firepit was also very nice and a huge supply of firewood both at the firepit and on the porch of the cabin. They have a few fishing ponds that supposedly have Brim and Bass but we did not see any. There is also a creek running through the property that could potentially have trout but I did not see any in the times I was out there. CONS: Although it does detail that the main lodge is 100 yards away, it does not mention there is a 3rd cabin immediately next to the Graves that we have to walk past to get to the car in the driveway. I am splitting hairs as there was a family there when we stayed and we barely knew there was anyone there except for their car next to ours.

Downtown Waynesville and Maggie Valley were great if you like antiquing and boutique shopping. We did not encounter a single rude person and, on the contrary, everyone including the staff at McDonalds, Wendy's and Ingles (grocery store) provided that special southern hospitality.

SUMMARY: As I said before, I had to include some dings for this review to be legit, but the 5 stars I gave is well deserved. Would I stay here again? ABSOLUTELY! Would I recommend this cabin? DEFINITELY.

Cute and Cozy

  • 5 of 5

The exact words I kept saying about the cabin during our whole stay; cute and cozy. The property was absolutely beautiful; the ponds, the pastures and the river. The cabin was stocked with everything we might need and the caretakers were very attentive and helpful. We had a special request and the owner was more than accommodating; it made the trip even more memorable. Planning our next trip already!! Thank you!

Quaint & quiet. Wonderful spot for a little get-away.

  • 3 of 5

The cottage was quaint and sitting on the front porch during a rain shower was pleasant. I was quite surprised when I first arrived that I could not find a staircase and found a very challenging latter to get to the loft area. I could not get my luggage up there and needed to wear my backpack to carry my phone and a water to the loft. There was not any pictures on VRBO showing a latter so it took me back some. The two bedrooms on the main level where fine as where the bathrooms. The property manager, Neda was delightful and very helpful!

Beautifully relaxing

  • 4 of 5

The Graves cabin is wonderful and the property is quite nice! The only minor thing was the other cabin situated very close the pics really don't show it. Worked out fine for us as the other cabin was empty for most of our stay. The large house although was full was no concern as there is a good distance between that and Graves. The property contacts onsite were very gracious and kind hosts! Overall we loved it!

Great place. Just like pictures/description. Great cabin look/feel w/ modern kitchen. Clean.

I echo the comments from previous guests that left reviews. This is just what we were hoping for.... If you're looking for a mountain cabin to unwind this fits the bill. You can lounge around on the front porch or family room... and explore the river and ponds on the property... Or you can jump in the car to visit the sights... Waynesville is a 20-30 min drive (nice restaurants and food shopping) and downtown Ashville is about 40 min, so it's a bit remote, but that's probably what you're looking for... We did multiple day trips: Skyline Drive, Chimney Rock, Ashville, New Belgium brewery (great tour), Biltmore (of course). Our pleasant restaurant surprise was the Bavarian Restaurant in Ashville. Not very big, but the ambiance was authentic, friendly wait staff, and delicious German food. It was an enjoyable last evening.

My wife and I and 3 teen age children spent the week. The cabin was quite comfortable. Clean linen/towels.... Nice Queen bedroom for my wife and I... and another for my son.... The girls slept upstairs in the room with 2 bunk beds... My only comment was that the access to the loft is a ladder which was fine for my teens... but might be a bit adventurous for very young kids.... Bottom line.... We were very pleased with the cabin and care taker that was just next door if needed.... Thumbs up....
