Overview

About the property

Our adorable 1000 sq ft cabin is not your typical rustic getaway. We know you'll love our peaceful, clean and comfortable place in the woods!

The decor is modern and relaxed, with comfort in mind throughout. The welcoming but uncluttered living room includes a comfortable sofa and a big coffee table for card games. We have a TV, DVD, Roku box with video games, and loads of movies, books, games and puzzles to enjoy, plus excellent WiFi if you really must stay in touch.

The open-plan kitchen has recent appliances and a spacious breakfast bar, and the adjacent dining area seats six. The toasty gas fireplace makes this a perfect place to relax after a day on the slopes with a cup of cocoa and a view of the snow laden pines.

The spacious front bedroom has a queen-size bed while the larger rear bedroom has a queen and twin bunks. In the summertime, the beds are fitted with lightweight duvets, with cozy wool blankets added during the colder season. Newer mattresses and pads make for comfortable support.

In the evening, put your grilling skills to test on the spacious deck, complete with gas barbecue. (Please note that deck furniture is put away during the rainy season and reappears by Memorial Day. The grill is out year-round.)

We're ideally located in the desired Lakemont Pines neighborhood with its wonderful private lake for swimming, catch-and-relase fishing, or paddling a boat. Full guest privileges during the mid-June to Labor Day summer season (including horseshoes, volleyball, children's playground, lodge, snack shack, loaner kayaks and paddleboats, and more) are included with your rental. If you bring your own gear, you can enjoy the lake off-season, too! The lake is easy walking distance from the bottom of our lot. Arnold is a hiker's paradise, with the trail-head into the national forest at the end of our road, and the newly-designated Arnold Rim Trail, a local favorite.

If you've never been to the Arnold area, you're in for a treat! Ideally located in the Stanislaus National Forest, we are 30 minutes from Bear Valley Ski Resort to the east, and 20 minutes from the charming gold rush town of Murphys, with its wine tasting rooms, boutique shopping and gourmet restaurants. Also nearby are Columbia State Park, a preserved gold rush community; Calaveras Big Trees State Park and its giant sequoias; and Railtown 1897 State Historic Park, not to mention golf, winery tours, cave tours, zip lines, horseback riding and more! Yosemite Valley is about 2.5 hours to the south.

Arnold weather is ideal for all-season fun! The warmest months are June through September, with average temps in the perfect upper 70s - low 80s range. The cabin is shady and cool, and the lake water temp is in the mid-70s. Ski season normally begins in December and carries through mid-April. Because we're at 4,000 feet, we get the postcard views without the heavy snow load farther up the hill, which means easier access during the snow season. And spring and fall are normally in the 55 - 65 range -- perfect for checking out the fall foliage in Ebbetts Pass, or visiting Yosemite without the crowds.

**PLEASE NOTE** We do not charge a cleaning fee! Instead, we require our guests to do a light clean before leaving, including wiping down bath and kitchen surfaces, beds made, and floors swept/vacuumed/lightly mopped as needed. This does include taking out your trash and emptying the vacuum. We also do a periodic deep clean.

Pet requests: We allow one well-behaved dog on approval, and payment of a fee. Pets should not be left unattended at the cabin. Pets are not permitted on the furniture.

Refunds/Cancellations: We cannot offer any refunds within 60 days of the first night of your stay, for any reason.

About Elis Imboden

Elis grew up camping in the woods of northern California, and as a busy mom and university administrator, loves the tranquility of reading a good book surrounded by trees on the deck before anyone's awake. Lucas is also a reader and enjoys the many books, games, and puzzles at the cabin, as well as the belly flop contests at the lake and skiing at Bear Valley.

Elis Imboden purchased this cabin in 2011

Why Elis Imboden chose Arnold

Arnold is ideally located, with loads of activities but plenty of peace and quiet. Lakemont Pines is like an old-time lake resort in the summer, with outdoor movies and sandcastle contests at the lodge.

What makes this cabin unique

When Elis bought the cabin in 2011, it was badly in need of a makeover. She saw nothing but potential. After plenty of hard work with the help of family and friends, she is proud to welcome guests to enjoy the results.

Guestbook comments from the owner

What can we say about this wonderful and tranquil gem in the woods? We had such a fantastic time at Elis's mountain retreat, my only wish is that we could have stayed longer! This is a great place for friends, couples, families, or even one person to come and get away from it all. All the amenities you need are here (including lots of games I wish we had more time to play!), and what you don't have can be obtained at the shopping center down the street (great market, BTW). Having access to the private lake is also a huge bonus, as well as the close proximity to Big Trees State Park. I really can't wait to return to the cabin for more grillin' and more chillin'. Thank you!

very nicely appointed, wonderful rear deck, clean, only small issue: no dishwasher which is a little hard with more than two people--but we really liked the stay there.

Thank you.

Owner's Response: Truly hot days are rare enough that few cabins in Arnold are air conditioned. I recommend closing up the cabin by mid-morning and spending the day in the lake or touring a nearby cave. Natural Bridges is also a cool treat when it's hot (bring drinking water). In the evening, open the house up and turn on the ceiling fan to allow the cooler air to circulate. Room fans (provided) help as well.
