Slayton is only 5 miles away and has much to offer for all ages and interests. Step back in time in the historic Dinehart/Holt House and the Murray County Historical Museum (my favorite time to see it is when they have it all decked out for a haunted Halloween). Pick apples at the apple orchard north of Slayton, splash in the zero entry pool or zip down the giant water slide at Slaytona Beach West in the summer, and enjoy one of the several parks anytime of the year. With a bustling downtown, Slayton offers a wide variety of shops. Stop by the local bakery early so that you don't miss out on their fabulous glazed yeast donuts, then head over to Left Bank Cafe for fresh roasted coffee. Now that you have fuel for shopping, you'll have to decide whether you'd like to pick up something unique and flashy at One Stop Diva Shop or admire the beautiful home decor items at The Hut. If you're looking to update your wardrobe, you won't want to miss a stop at Geyerman's. My personal favorite store in Slayton is Second Wind Antiques & More, which has a wide array of bargains and a continually changing inventory. After you've worked up an appetite, you will have a number of restaurants to choose from including Pizza Ranch, Subway, Hub Drive Inn, Left Bank Cafe, or The Grain Exchange. Pizza Ranch will deliver to Summit Lake Lodge as well, or you can take subs back to enjoy on the deck.
A stay at Summit Lake Lodge will provide you a private lakeside getaway just off Hwy. 30 between Lake Wilson and Slayton. For reference, Pipestone is 23 miles to the west, Marshall Is 38 miles to the north, and Worthington is 35 miles to the south, and it is 74 miles from Sioux Falls, SD. The renowned Wilder Pageant in Walnut Grove, MN, is a quick 35 miles away, and on the way is the Wheels Across the Prairie Museum in Tracy, MN. For some family-friendly hiking, playgrounds, a lookout tower and a historic cabin, spend the day exploring 700 acre Garvin County Park, which is north of Slayton on Hwy 59.

About Stephanie Korver
Kyle and I grew up in the area, married just out of high school and attended college together at South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD. Kyle commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Air Force in 1997 and we have been stationed in Oklahoma, Alaska, North Dakota, Belgium, Kansas and Germany. In fall 2010, the kids and I moved to this home in SW MN to be near my parents while Kyle deployed to Qatar for 16 months. This home now houses our antiques that we acquired from our overseas travels, provides us a vacation home while we continue our Air Force adventure, and is our long-term 'forever home' which we plan to move back to when Kyle's Air Force career has reached its end.
Stephanie Korver purchased this House in 2010
Why Stephanie Korver chose Hadley
Kyle and I wanted a home in SW MN, near family, that would provide the kids and I a retreat while he served our country during a 16-month deployment. We love antiques, homes with Craftsman character, and the serenity of rural lake life, and this home fit our family perfectly. It just so happened that my parents had done much of the work years earlier when my dad purchased pasture land surrounding Summit Lake in Hadley, MN, as an anniversary gift for my mother in 1997. Over the years, they developed the property, parceling out large lots and selling them to the public. They moved their 1936 Craftsman home from nearby Iona, MN, in 2002, placing it on a full basement, attaching a 3+ garage and remodeling the kitchen. My parents agreed to sell the home to us in 2010, and it allowed them to downsize to a smaller home across the road. We look forward to being able to spend more time there in the future with the incredible views, relaxing lake activities, and the calm of nature. Summit Lake Lodge symbolizes family, togetherness, and the simplicity of rural lake life and holds a very dear place in our hearts.
What makes this House unique
This home is a true gem because it is wonderfully decorated in European antiques and treasures picked up in Belgium, France, and Germany. It has Craftsman character, oak floors, and a view of the lake that is sure to lower anyone's blood pressure. Summit Lake Lodge is a perfect mix of high class design and relaxed livability. Even with all of our world travels, rural Summit Lake in SW MN is truly our favorite place to be!

Hadley House, Christmas 2017
We have stayed in this home 5 years now and it has worked out well for us. The property manager lives across the street and is very attentive to any needs that arise.
Modern lodging option on the prairies
We enjoyed the comfort and location of this home during a family Christmas gathering. The home and yard provide plenty of space for indoor and outdoor activities no matter the season.
Three coworkers and myself stayed at this property for a few weeks in December and it worked out exactly as we planned. The beautiful views from the house made for a very relaxing work place while we were here. We literally watched the lake completely freeze over in a day, and by the end of our trip we were watching locals set up and ice fish which was really neat. Dale and Cindi across the street were extremely helpful and always willing to try and make our stay as comfortable as possible. They have an absolutely adorable dog that would come and visit everyday when we pulled up. We referred to him as the walking whiskey barrel, you'll know what I'm talking about when you see him! Great place and great people. Slayton is five minutes from the house which has good places to eat and shop for necessities. The only thing that I can think of that would have made the trip better would be the water pressure, which may have had something to do with the time of the year that we were there. All in all a great place to stay and relax. Thank you for your hospitality!
Was a great get away! Quiet & relaxing! Can't wait to come back!
Had lots of room for us 3 famiiIes. Kids enjoyed the dock, lake, & canoe. Us ladies took in the shopping in Slayton but disappointed a few downtown shops were closed due to the Labor Day weekend. Husbands enjoyed 2 days of golfing in Slayton. Definitely a great weekend!
Relaxing and beautiful
Great location for our families to have a mini-reunion. Wonderful views and well-appointed home. The kids all loved the games and the canoe. Our second time staying at the home and we hope to come again in the future.
The property was clean and comfortable with a lovely yard and lake view.
We enjoyed the opportunity to have a relaxing family gathering in Hadley.
Fishing, boating and swimming in 81 acre Summit Lake. Walking trails, park, ball field (featuring Hadley Buttermakers) and a Community Center with meals, refreshments and ice nearby. A short walk away, Camp Summit offers full hook-up sites for RVs and campers, as well as a Rainbow Playground. Added features include bustling downtown shopping (antiquers and bargain shoppers will enjoy Second Wind on Main Streetand The Hut has gorgeous decor items), restaurants, churches, parks, grocery store, and beautiful 9-hole golf course 5 miles away in Slayton, MN. The swimming pool in Slayton is a fun stop for families with a zero entry pool with sprinklers, twisting water slide, and diving board. Murray County's largest lake is Lake Shetek, only 15 miles away. Murray County also hosts a looped portion of the Casey Jones Bike Trail near Currie. Heading north on the bike trail from End-O-Line Railroad Park and Museum you observe farm crops up close, tall corn, soybeans thick with pods and new mown alfalfa perfumes the air. Then Lake Shetek named by the Dakota (means Lake Pelican) meanders north around the headwaters of the Des Moines River at the Currie Dam. Here kingfishers dive for minnows and families picnic while watching their fishing poles. Rest spots, scenic overlooks, the Shetek Monument, Smith Lake, wildflowers, birds and animals enhance the bike trail and when you return to End-O-Line Park, a tour and indoor/outdoor fun for the whole family can be enjoyed. The bike trail is approximately six miles of hard surface, easy-rolling hills.
