The house is perfect, the grounds are spacious and beautiful, the location is ideal, and Maire is a delightful and helpful host. Each room in the house is comfortable and inviting, the beds are great, and the kitchen is fully equipped for simple or fancy dining. Galway has a great vibe. The people are welcoming, the food is delicious, and as they say, the “craic” is good! We are already looking forward to our third visit to Nile Lodge.

Roomy, historic property, 15 min walk to DT Galway. Owner was very pleasant who met us personally and offered many personal touches such as muffins, homemade granola, water, coffee, fruit.

Beautiful Historic House

We loved our stay at this beautiful historic house. It is very lovingly cared for and decorated. It is like stepping back in time and we felt right at home. Would definitely stay again!

The property was absolutely stunning, clean, and had so much history. It was perfect for our group visiting Galway for a few days. Maire went above and beyond to host us and welcome us into the home by accommodating our arrival time, giving us a tour of the home, and even proving us some groceries! We would definitely recommend this property to anyone visiting Galway!

Exceptional Nile Lodge

Nile Lodge is an exceptional property, a combination of 19th century style and tremendous comfort. Maire is a really wonderful and attentive host.

Maire was a warm, welcoming, and supportive host, who provided great information about the property and environs. The house was everything and more than we expected. We were a family of six, ranging in age from 8-80! We all had a wonderful time.

Absolutely wonderful stay

Our recent stay at the Nile Lodge was absolutely wonderful. The property is even more beautiful than the photos. Galway and Salthill sites and restaurants all within waking distance, and ample parking is available on the property. To top it off, Maire was a delightful host. We would highly recommend.

Lovely Place

Terrific house with plenty of room. Accross the river from the town but a short walk or cab ride. Maire is an excellent host. A little surprised that another one of her family was staying there in a separated room but was not a problem. Would go there again!

Best Holiday Ever!

Wonderfully charming property. Clean very comfortable beds, beautiful antique furniture, beyond fully appointed kitchen. The house was fun to come home to after a busy day. The children loved the secret gardens. Great location. Marie, the owner, was a fantastic host.

We had a fairytale like stay at this home in a lovely section of Galway. The home is beautifully done-extremely comfortable with gorgeous decor. Fantastic property in the heart of Galway

We had such a great stay at this property. The house was clean, very well equipped, and the host was a great communicator and incredibly thoughtful. It was a 10 minute walk into town or to the boardwalk. The outdoor space was great for us as we lucked out with very warm weather. Would definitely recommend this property for your stay in Galway.

Couldn't have been any better

if there were 6 stars, I'd have given it. The house is perfect in both comfort and location. We were treated like family and honestly was one of the best vacation home experiences I've had in my 27 years of travelling....

Amazing visit!

Everything about our stay at Nile Lodge was above and beyond expectation! Marie welcomed us like family--and even supplied us with wonderful breakfast treats and excellent suggestions for how to spend our time in Galway. The house is absolutely gorgeous! It's historic and elegant but cozy and set within a quiet private garden, but is within an easy walk to all the main sites of Galway. And its great to have easy and safe parking right out front. I highly recommend!

New Gold Standard Set!

Our stay at Maria’s beautiful home has raised our standard for the best possible travel experience. Our hostess was warm, kind, and respectful of our privacy. She lavished us with beauty and delicious accoutrements. The house is a well preserved home built with only the highest quality materials and has been lovingly maintained over the years. Absolutely the Best.

You will not be disappointed in any way. The house is as beautiful as the woman who owns it. The house is perfectly located for walking. The pubs and restaurants are within a 10 minute walk. You feel like your staying at a country manor. Wonderful!!!

Nile Lodge

A lovely and "homely" (in the best sense of the word) property. Hadn't seen my brothers in 3 years and used Nile Lodge as a place to get together. Very well equipped, good location and a great place to relax. Maire our host was a delight. Gracious friendly and always willing to help. I highly recommend both her and Nile Lodge..

Beautifully Kept Historical Home

We had a memorable stay at Nile Lodge. The home was beautifully kept with all historical touches. The grounds were perfect for 2 busy children and the home was in excellent walking distance from any sites we wanted to take in in Galway city. Maire was wonderful to work with and extremely accommodating to all our needs and went above and beyond to ensure our children were comfortable. I highly recommend this home for a traditional, elegant Irish stay.

Perfect Stay

We had a perfect stay ay Nile Lodge. As the other reviewers have noted, this was our best experience ever renting a property. From the initial communication to leaving on our last day, we had no issues at all. The property itself is well maintained and in a perfect location for day trips or just walking into Galway. Of course, Marie was the perfect host. We enjoyed chatting with her, and she was great at suggestions for trips. The highlight for us was our trip over to Inishmore and the guide Marie arranged for us. We are now thinking about when we can go back.

Home away from home

Nile Lodge is not just renting a place to stay, it is a sharing of Maire's property, pride and hospitality. From personally greeting us to the groceries awaiting us to booking a dinner reservation for us in spite of our late arrival, Maire exceeded all of our expectations and even hopes. The home is lovely (like staying in a museum), and Maire's tips for things to do helped us enjoy ourselves even more. Our group of six adults enjoyed the Lodge beyond our dreams. Thank you, Maire, for making us feel a part of your family for our stay.
