About the property

Turtle Beach, this 4 bedroom, 3 bath, spacious 2200 square foot condo directly on the Gulf, and all on one level, has that 'wow factor' many vacationers look for. Spectacular views from the open-plan living room with electric fireplace, dining area and kitchen, as well as from the master bedroom and of course from the 42 foot-long balcony, which you can access from either the living/dining room or the master bedroom. The other three east and west-facing bedrooms also have partial Gulf views. The unit was fully repainted and newly refurbished in spring 2012 and largely repainted again in February 2015 as a result of exterior renovations. Further upgrades finished as of January 2015: new kitchen cabinets, new Black Mountain granite countertops, farmhouse sink; new Mitchell Gold sectional sofa and two glider/swivel armchairs in living room, new sisal rugs for dining and living rooms. Also, in February 2015 new dry bar installed in living room, with Black Mountain granite, including dual-zone beverage center for white wine and beer/soft drinks. New for October 2015 was a GE Profile side-by-side refrigerator with Arctica ice maker.

Changes made in 2016 included retiling my Gulf balcony with Stonepeak Crate Colonial White Ceramic Tile (March 2016), buying a pub height dining table and pub swivel chairs, which afford a fantastic view over the railings when you are seated (Spring 2016), and installing a new master bath glass shower enclosure and tiling that shower area (Spring/Summer 2016).

This Wi-fi included unit includes a 55-inch Samsung flat screen TV, DVR, plus Blu-Ray DVD in the living room, 40-inch Samsung and Blu-Ray in the master bedroom, a 32-inch Samsung and Blu-Ray in the twin-bedded children's room, and a 40-inch Samsung and Xbox 360 Kinect (make sure to bring your games!) in the fourth bedroom with twin daybed and trundle, which also serves as a game room. Luxuriate on your king-size Westin Heavenly Bed in the master bedroom, or the Stearns & Foster queen-size bed in the second bedroom, which is set apart from the rest of the condo. Two new Simmons Beautyrest Recharge Pillowtop beds in twin bedroom as of January 2015, and another one for the daybed in the fourth bedroom/game room as of September 2015. The master bath has a large walk-in shower, jacuzzi and double vanities. The bath adjacent to the Queen bedroom has a curved shower rod for extra space, and the Jack-n-Jill third bathroom with double vanities links the twin-bedded (kids') room and the fourth bedroom/game room.

The kitchen includes all you need for dining in or just taking quick meals, with a double-door GE Profile fridge with ice maker, Electrolux gas range, GE microwave, toaster oven and toaster, coffee maker, blender, dishwasher and large Kohler farmhouse sink, with ample stoneware and glasses for all friends and family. The dining table comfortably seats six, plus the adjoining kitchen island has three counter stools. Plus, if you've read this far, automatic BEACH SERVICE INCLUDED--up to six chairs and three umbrellas, for each day of your stay (not available Nov-Feb).

Turtle Beach consists of two Gulf-side buildings of three floor-through units each that sit atop a 35-foot bluff, thus affording breathtaking Gulf views, plus two other buildings of two units each, with the complex's swimming pool in the middle. I am on the third floor, of four, two floors above ground. Parking for you and your guests directly in front of the condo. It is conveniently located 1-1/2 miles east of Seaside and within easy walking distance of Cafe 30A, one of the best restaurants in the area, and The Perfect Pig, which opened in November 2012 to rave reviews and has maintained them since. Goatfeathers Seafood Market, Cafe 30-A and Brozinni's (pizza) are just down the street, as is the nearest bicycle rental shop.

So, location, location, location, plus views to die for. Private beach walkover, for your early morning walks along the beach, as far as the eye can see, late night strolls, or just to laze about. It's two flights down (and up) to the condo, or if you prefer and for those who may need to, you can take the elevator. Or you can just sit and gaze out at the endlessly changing sea and sky from the privacy of your covered balcony, letting your cares melt away with the setting sun. Life doesn't get much better than this.

About Scott

I had been looking, off and on, for my dream beach home for over 20 years. I started coming to 30A only at Thanksgiving 2010 and immediately fell in love with the emerald waters, sugary white sandy beaches, the amazing dunes and dune lakes, the great food and the wonderful charm and friendliness of the area. Since then I've learned of many great restaurants and lots of local activities that make this place feel special.

Scott purchased this condo in 2012

Why Scott chose Beaches of South Walton

This property is one of the few that offered unobstructed Gulf views both east and west as well as directly out to the Gulf below, an ocean-liner view. There is an indescribable feeling of happiness and serenity in this condo. The open floor plan contributes greatly to that feeling.

What makes this condo unique

Proximity to beach, bikes, tennis, water activities, local restaurants, plus within 30 minutes of Destin/Sandestin to the west and Panama City to the east, offering all the shopping, dining and entertainment alternatives imaginable. This location in Seagrove Beach is close to Seaside and Rosemary Beach, yet distinctly apart and thus a much quieter, residential part of 30A, but one with amenities right close by.

Spectacular!!!!!

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from our family vacation at The Great Escape. WOW!!!! The views from the balcony were absolutely amazing and truly transformed our beach experience into the most spectacular week ever!! We were able to watch the dolphins swim by as we enjoyed our coffee in the morning and the sun set as we enjoyed our cocktails in the evening!! The unit was well appointed and extremely welcoming, and the kitchen was fully stocked with every utensil and pan you needed . We really appreciated the complimentary beach set ups!! We wanted for nothing except for more time there. Aside for our bike rides in the morning, we didn't want to leave the Turtle Beach area!! It was truly our Great Escape!!! When we left on Saturday morning, my daughter was singing "If I Could Turn Back Time"!! As I write this, I am pretty much singing the same tune!! We were sad to leave but know we will be back!!! Thank you, Scott, for allowing us to share your wonderful beach home!!!!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your generous feedback! There's really nothing I can add, except to reinforce that I really like it when my guests enjoy my home as much as I do. You are welcome back any time!

Perfect Beach Escape

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed at this lovely property over the Fourth of July week. The location was perfect -- we could walk down to the beach and back up to the house easily (which was important for us, since we have a two year old who can only take so much beach time). We could see the Fourth of July fireworks from Seaside to Panama City. The fantastic porch made us feel like we were experiencing the beach even when we were up at the house. There is a great table for outdoor dining or playing games or just visiting, and relaxing rocking chairs (even a child-size one!). The kitchen was large and open and state of the art, the bathrooms were nicely done, and all the bedrooms were well-appointed and comfortable. The house was stocked with kitchenware, beach towels, games and almost anything you'd need. Overall, we found the house to be very kid-friendly (note that the front door does not have an inside deadbolt, so we did have to watch our son closely to keep him from escaping).

What really sets this place apart is the responsiveness of the owner Scott. He sent a very helpful email before our trip to inform us about the property and surrounding area, and then was very responsive to our emails once we got to Turtle Beach (we just had a few questions, nothing went wrong). We would stay there again in a second.

Owner's Response: What a lovely review! Thank you for all the kind words. I'm so glad you and your family had a great time. That's what is most important. We have enjoyed the view from Sandestin to Panama City Beaches for several years, but I've never seen the July 4 fireworks up and down the beach--that must have been amazing. The pub-height table is brand new, so I'm glad it is working out well. And thanks for the comment on the interior deadbolt--I had one until I went keyless. I'll need to consider that again. You of course would be welcome back any time, should it fit within your future vacation plans. Scott

Family Reunion 2016

  • 5 of 5

My family of 7 needed a place for our family in Seagrove Beach because we were having a 38 member family reunion and we found The Great Escape. We had plenty of room and even had 30 plus people over for dinner one evening. The view was amazing and my almost 90 year old father in law was able to see what was going on down on the beach by using the elevator and sitting on our balcony. My grandson loved the whirlpool tub and had a great time playing with all his tub toys, he especially liked the pool and we spent a lot of time there, it was good sized and kept clean. Scott, the owner was very knowledgeable about the area and responded quickly to all my emails, I felt if any problems would have risen it would have been taken care of immediately. I would recommend The Great Escape to any wanting a great place with a great view and the artwork on the walls is amazing, several of our party wished they could take pieces home. My favorite was "It's a good day to have a good day" which basically described our trip.

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for sharing your experience at The Great Escape as part of your family reunion and for your nice comments. I'm so glad you and other family members had such a good time. FYI, the "It's A Good Day to Have A Good Day" artwork sign comes from the HGTV show "Fixer Upper", with Chip and Joanna Gaines--they sell various handmade items on their Website. I thought this was a great sentiment.

A Great Escape Plus All the Little Things

  • 5 of 5

Our family of seven -- mom, dad, two kids, gram and grand and uncle -- stayed here in May and had a fabulous time.

The property fit us perfectly from the beachfront access to the central location along 30A. Scott has recently done a lot of upgrading to the place, and we noticed quickly.

Once you walk in, you’re greeted with tasteful beach décor and neutral colors and beautiful artwork and photography from local artists line the hallways. The tile floors are pretty and then you get to the kitchen. The newly remodeled area has an eating space, new cabinets, new farmhouse sink, new fridge and all the little things are there as well (nice glassware and a toaster oven were welcome treats for us)!

The living room area was spacious and afforded plenty of room for the kids (aged 4 years and 10 months) to roam around.

The new balcony furniture on the newly tiled balcony was really nice as we spent a lot of time out there during all hours of the day. The view was unequaled. Sitting in the kitchen/dining/living area, there is a 180-degree ocean view.

Scott also gets all the little things right: Beach towels? He had them waiting for us. Beach chairs and umbrellas: Set up and waiting on the sand every morning for us to enjoy; The wine fridge that we used liberally. The Smart TVs which we got a lot of use from. The furnishings were new and comfy. Did I mention the artwork?

Before I leave it out and maybe most importantly: anytime we had questions from restaurant recommendations to questions about the condo itself, Scott was available via text, phone and email within minutes.

We also got to meet many of the people who own neighboring condos in this building and others in the small complex. They were friendly and we enjoyed some nice conversation with them on the boardwalk.

Having the pool was also a big plus with two young children who tired of the beach on some days. New poolside furniture was added just before we got there which was also a plus.

We highly recommend staying here and we’ll have Scott’s place on the top of our list when we start planning future trips to 30A.

Owner's Response: Anne, I'm very pleased you and your family had such an enjoyable time at my home. You all were also a pleasure to communicate with. And I appreciate your noticing and liking the many recent changes I have made. This is my second home, so I treat it accordingly. And I'm gratified when guests let me know that they had a good time. You also told me that one of your children loved the child rocker on the balcony. I don't get feedback on that very often, so I'm glad it got good use. Looking forward to welcoming you back should your travel plans permit!

Another trip to The Great Escape

  • 5 of 5

Another trip to this beautiful beachfront condo is a real testament to its perfect location and convenience. Scott, we loved your place before but now with all of the new upgrades, it's even better! The new dry bar is an excellent addition! We love the view from the large balcony, with the rockers. The balcony height of this second level condo is exactly where you'd want it while viewing the sunset each evening! Always nice to have an elevator too! Thanks Scott. Pam

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for the kind words! You all appeared to be model guests, very considerate and communicative when needed. I am so glad your family enjoyed themselves on this, your return visit. And yes, I've made a number of upgrades since you were first there in 2014. You are of course welcome back should The Great Escape be in your future travel plans!

Spring Break

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at this beautiful beachfront home. The view is spectacular and the floor plan maximizes both view and privacy. It is elegantly decorated with a very open and spacious living are. The kitchen is well equipped and the bar with wine cooler a bonus! Beds are comfortable, bedrooms are spacious, and artwork is unique and reflects the beauty of the area. What a wonderful surprise to find umbrellas and chairs on the beach everyday! It turned into the group hangout spot!

Scott, your home is beautiful and is now our favorite beach house! We look forward to returning!

Owner's Response: Thank you for this lovely review. I am very pleased you all enjoyed my home. Of course, the view is the best feature of my home--it's one of the best on 30A, as you have seen. But since it's my home, I have tried to decorate it as such, not as a "vacation rental". I'm looking forward to welcoming you back in the future! Scott
