Overview

About the property

Perfect for Weddings, Family Reunions and Corporate Retreats!

The Peace River Valley Ranch is now available for your private enjoyment! We have over a square mile of 'Old Florida' property for you to explore and over a mile of frontage on the Peace River. There are miles of well-maintained trails to walk, bike or drive on. Two canoes and two kayaks are available for your use, included in the rental rate. We own the land on both sides of the Peace River, adding to the sense of privacy. When you enter through the front gate, you will pass our 'Jeep Dock' where we keep our vehicles, and then our barn. Down the road about a mile is the 'River House' located directly on the Peace River. It has two bedrooms and a loft above the living room, as well as two screen porches, an expansive deck looking over the river and a fire pit. It's not fancy, but it's comfortable and includes modern amenities like flat screen televisions with DirecTV, WiFi and a stereo system with an iPod/USB connection and satellite radio (The TV in the River House was updated to an 80' flat screen in December 2014). If you have a larger group, we have a small guest cabin behind the River House that will accommodate two additional guests and a four-bedroom guest house (the 'Lodge') that sleeps eight, located about 1/4 mile from the River House. There is no additional rental charge for the use of the guest cabin or lodge--only the cleaning fee varies. We also have an area for large gatherings near the barn with a covered area and picnic tables underneath that provide seating for over fifty people. We have hosted quite a few weddings already and we would welcome the opportunity to discuss having yours here (an event fee of $500 applies to weddings and other events with more than 30 people, and we limit all gatherings to a maximum of 50 people during the wetter months of the year to lessen the impact on the property). If you have horses, you are welcome to bring them with you. We do not supply equestrian equipment, but we do have stalls available in our barn and plenty of room for your trailer. RV's are welcome too (no hookups). No matter the size of your party, you will have exclusive use of The Peace River Valley Ranch during your stay--our other accommodations will be left vacant. Please note, guests are welcome to use our shooting range, but NO HUNTING IS ALLOWED. Please note that the Peace River Valley Ranch is located approximately one hour and fifteen minutes from Disney World and about one hour and forty minutes from Downtown Orlando. Also, please note that our golf carts are no longer available for use, but guests are welcome to bring their own.

About Charles Frederick

Our family used to lease the land that is now the Peace River Valley Ranch for hunting back in the 40's and 50's. In the early 70's, we acquired title to the original 653 acres and have added adjacent parcels over the years, including an orange grove that abuts the property. We no longer hunt the Peace River Valley Ranch and now treat it as a game preserve and a private getaway for family and friends.

Charles Frederick purchased this house in 1972

Why Charles Frederick chose Wauchula

This is 'Old Florida' at its best. We live in Orlando and this is our escape when we need reminding of how Florida used to be. From the windmill to the lilly pond, the grass fed cows and our 'retired' horse and donkey, you will get a real ranch experience. The rest of the property is kept in as natural condition as possible to encourage wildlife and offers great opportunities for nature photography.

What makes this house unique

Where else are you going to find a property offering over 700 private acres of land and a mile of riverfront to explore?

Perfect for reunions or corporate retreats, with a large event area with seven picnic tables under a tin roofed pavilion.

Family Vacation 2017

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Peace River Ranch. The property was clean and convenient in every way. We had a large group staying and there was still extra room for more people! We loved having options for things to do with the gun range, the lodge, river house, canoes, kayaks, tubes, and on and on! We cook all of our meals in house and there were plenty of plates, cookware, utensils, spices, condiments etc. Beautiful property!!! We had a blast! WiFi is always a great bonus and the signal was strong

Things worth mentioning: no-see-ums were brutal for some of the group. We did see a couple of alligators, but they were small and paid us no mind. We played in the river plenty during the days without any issues. In 4 days we might have seen 4 boats go by, so no problems there. The ice maker in the river house fridge was not working.

Beautiful, tranquil, and spacious retreat

  • 5 of 5

This is an amazingly peaceful retreat space for those who love nature! The property provided a range of spaces and activities from floating down the river to shooting practice targets on the gun range - there was something for everyone! There were many trails around the property which provided a wonderful opportunity to see hawks, wild hogs, and armadillos. The large table in the main river house was fantastic for our group's meals together! I can't recall another place that provided such a large eating space and enough tableware for everyone. We were all impressed! The separation of the river house and lodge allowed a separate space for those who wished to stay up and play games and those who wished to go to sleep a little earlier. This place is ideal for gatherings of family and friends who enjoy their time together, but may also like to do different types of activities. Some folks practiced shooting on the range, while others explored the trails on bikes, and others sat on the porch in the rocking chairs catching up and watching the river flow by. Truly a remarkable and beautiful space! We are looking forward to enjoying it again sometime and would recommend it to anyone! Thank you!

Beautiful, Peaceful, your paradise behind the gate.

  • 5 of 5

Our third stay and we can't wait till the fourth. I have paddled the Peace River every year for 26 years. It was never the same. Just like the ranch, wildlife, flowers, river levels and weather. Your stay will be a new adventure every time. The evenings around the fire a forever memory with family and dear friends. If you feel a steward of this earth, this is the place under the starlite heavens. Blessings to all who care, bp

Such an amazing piece of property

  • 5 of 5

We had another great stay at the PRVR. The grounds were in great shape and we took advantage of the miles of trails for daily hikes and rides. We also did some fossil hunting in the river and got a handful of ancient sharks teeth.

We are looking forward to coming back again next year.
