Located in the natural wonderland of Blairsville, GA, this beautiful cozy 1-bedroom cabin is nestled in a serene wooded setting, where guests can unwind in the peaceful ambiance of this private retreat. With gorgeous knotty pine floors, tongue-and-groove walls and beamed ceilings throughout its main and upper levels, the cabin glows in the evening light. Running Deer Cabin has 3 levels - main, loft, and basement - each featuring a full bath with tub/shower combo. Enter the main level of the cabin from the covered front porch where you can sit and watch the sunset in the evenings. On this level you will find the one bedroom with beamed ceiling, a gorgeous king size log bed, huge walk in closet, ceiling fan, smart tv. The ensuite full bath features a tub shower combo, vanity sink with plenty of storage, laundry closet, and linen closet. From the bedroom you can access the wrap around deck overlooking the forest, with wicker rockers to enjoy your morning coffee while watching the deer, that roam through the property, and soaking up the quiet. It's like being in a tree house! Also on this level is the cozy living room with cathedral beamed ceiling, gas log fireplace, reclining sofa and love seat, two ceiling fans, High Speed WiFi, and 50" smart tv. Two small stained glass windows scatter rainbows throughout the space on a sunny day. Just off the living room is the fully equipped eat in kitchen, with access to the wrap around deck featuring outdoor seating, covered outdoor dining, and gas grill. Up the stairs from the living room you will find the comfy loft area with couch and rocker/glider, bookcase with games and puzzles, ceiling fan and another full bath with tub shower combo, vanity sink with storage, large clothes closet and linen closet. On the lowest level of the cabin is the game room, with access to the private hot tub on a covered patio, a cast iron gas log woodstove, ceiling fan, foosball table, vintage arcade game machine, and the third full bathroom. It all comes together to make this cabin a special place for a couple to unwind and relax. Close to both Blairsville and Blue Ridge, several wineries, and several waterfalls. Beautiful little cottage tucked away in the woods, with all you need for a relaxing getaway. Very clean and everything you need at your disposal. Excellent communication with property owners and never had any issue at all with the directions as posted. Would definitely stay again!!

Definitely had the best stay ever in a cabin! Very clean and the instructions for everything from the hot tub to the shower was very detailed and easy to read. The hot tub and fireplace were my favorite! Will definitely stay here again and Mark and Ruth were wonderful.

The property was beautiful! We loved it so much! The cabin was clean and everything was laid out perfectly. Everything was labeled so well. The instructions on how to operate everything throughout the cabin as well as the hot tub was fantastic. The bed was so comfortable! We highly recommend this cabin! Definitely a 5 star rating for us! Top notch rental. The owners were so great to work with. It was my girlfriend’s birthday weekend and she appreciates the birthday flower! So thoughtful and it was so appreciated. I could go on and on about how awesome this cabin is! I would 100% stay in this cabin again in the future!

Weekend getaway

This cabin was perfect for a couple’s getaway. Clean and beautifully decorated. The owners made sure that every detail, down to the light switches, was made available to the guests. Very spacious yet cozy and inviting. We appreciated the smoking internet so we were able to stream to our devices and the TV. We will definitely consider this cabin again for the 2 of us.

Relaxing Mountain retreat

My husband and I had a wonderful long weekend stay at the cabin. It is nestled in the quiet woods which is perfect for romantic nights on the deck or time in the hot tub. The bed is very comfortable the lines are clean and the towels fluffy. Everything is thought-out and organized. We appreciated the binder that explained everything in the cabin and also had ideas for daily trips, where to eat ect. If we had stayed longer it would have definitely been used. Ruth and Mark were very kind, personalized our trip with a card and welcome gift and even allowed for early and late check-in/out. Communication with them was great. Highly recommend this cabin for a trip away with your partner!

Perfect mountain getaway!!

My husband and I booked this cabin for a weekend for our anniversary and it was perfect. The cabin was extremely clean and cozy. We loved the fireplace and the porch views of the deer the most. The bed was comfortable and I really appreciated the multiple extra pillows available in the large master closet. We also really enjoyed that the cabin was close to everything without being right in town. Mark and Ruth gave easy instructions for check in, as well as how to use the various appliances/amenities around the cabin which were much appreciated. I hope we get the chance to stay in this sweet little cabin again. 100% recommend!

The cabin is fabulous! The decor was great, the autumn additions were perfect. Everything was fully stocked and super clean! (I am a bit of a clean freak, so when I say super clean, that’s way above and beyond the usual; I even used a bath towel, I always bring my own, rarely use the ones provided! Hubby did use his own because he likes a giant towel, lol). The fireplace was beautiful, as well as functional. The video game downstairs was enjoyed; there are lots of games/puzzles upstairs to enjoy as well. The location was perfect, right between Blue Ridge and Blairsville, easy to reach both within 15 minutes. Amicalola Falls state park is just about 45/50 minutes away, great place for a day trip! The hosts were especially awesome! We had a bit of a snafu on our part, the hosts went out of their way to make us not feel like idiots; they were so gracious! (We thought our checkout day was Monday, it was actually Sunday, we both had our calendars marked incorrectly! Maybe that was wishful thinking!) I can’t say enough about how wonderful they are! We will definitely return (with correct travel info) and highly recommend Running Deer Cabin!

Let me start off by saying WOW. We just came back after 4 nights in this cabin and cannot say anything bad because everything on every floor was wonderful. Every light switch has a label which came in very handy. Easy check in and check out. Lots of plates, cups, pots and pans. Hot tub was great and the game room. The front porch was very welcoming and the deck was so relaxing. 15 minute drive to restaurants, groceries, etc. Beautiful farms close by. Hole in the wall was a good plate to eat as well as jims bbq. Meeks park is a must visit where you can enjoy walking trails and relax by the river. Meeks II was also a nice park. Close to ellijay so you can enjoy the shops and restaurants as well.

We are Mark and Ruth Anderson, two retirees who were born and raised in NY State, where we met, married, and had our two sons. We’ve been living in the southeast for more than 4 decades now – and in GA for more than 30 years. Our boys grew up, married, blessed us with 7 grandchildren, and over time everyone moved to neighboring states. In 2019 we purchased a 2 BR 2 BA cabin in Mineral Bluff, with the plan of using the cabin a couple of weekends a month. Before we knew it, we were there every weekend, and decided to sell our Roswell home and move to the mountains full time.
After we finished working on our cabin, we decided to look into buying another property and making that cabin into a short term/vacation rental that would give others the same wonderfully relaxing experience that we always had when we visited the mountains.

Why they chose this property

When we found this cabin we knew it was the one! On our first visit here, some deer came running through the woods out back. Every time we visited after that, the same thing happened. So when we were deciding on a name for the cabin, Running Deer was the first thing we thought of!
Getting Running Deer into shape again was a lot of work, but so much fun! Every job we did made it come alive a little bit more! Searching for pieces to furnish it with, and decorate with, became our new hobby, and we were surprised at how the right items would just jump out at us when we went out searching for them.
Now we are ready to share it with you, and we hope you will love it, and become a regular visitor to this beautiful area! Welcome to Running Deer Cabin – your home away from home!

Easily accessible by paved roads, Running Deer is nestled in the woods where you will feel like you are away from everything but you are actually only minutes away from Blue Ridge and Blairsville. Peaceful and quiet, and frequented by white tailed deer who roam through almost daily. A perfect place to get away from it all and relax!
