There is a PRIVATE ELEVATOR from the entrance lobby directly into the flat. The LOUNGE is a good size with nice pieces of antique furniture and decorative items. There is a wonderful 17th century drop leaf table for dining and an amazing antique lacquered Chinese chair. The open plan KITCHEN has all machines of the highest standard: hob, oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge/freezer. The washer/dryer is in the bathroom cupboard. The MASTER BATHROOM is EN SUITE and has a shower over the tub with wash hand basin and loo–beautiful equipment. There is a gent’s loo with a sink and loo in the hall, giving a SECOND TOILET STATION for busy mornings. After last summer’s heat wave in London, the good news is the flat benefits from AIR CONDITIONING! Fantastic. There is a private phone, TV, and Internet for a visitor’s comfort. This property is outstanding, in a good location, and is absolutely newly refurbished. If you are in this budget and want to be in this outstanding location, this is flat is perfect. Nice.
5 night minimum for most reservations. 3 nights considered within 30 days of arrival.
As you know, I've booked apartments with you for several years and have never been disappointed. The reservation process was smooth and trouble free.
This property was particularly well located in Shepherd's Market at the end of a dead end street (with a parking garage at the end which was not noisy at all) in Mayfair, which is the museum, theatre and shopping heart of London. The unit was well furnished and decorated, and full of light during the day. The kitchen was efficient and well stocked, and the bathroom was spacious with plenty of counter space and the washer/dryer. I particularly appreciated the efficient heater - I turned off the heat while away during the day and at night - and when I turned it back on the apartment was warm within minutes. The area is very quiet at night.
There were numerous good restaurants within steps of the unit, and the three block walk to Green Park underground was safe and easily traversed within minutes.
I really enjoyed my stay and as usual, Christina and Ricardo were helpful and informative. LondonConnections is my first referral to friends interested in traveling to London, and I hope they take advantage of services you offer.
Excellent trip. So much fun. Loved the Clarges flat. Perfect location. Everyplace is accessible. The flow of the flat was really nice and logical. Loved the elegant decorating in the living area. Also the elevator direct entry into the flat was awesome. This is overall the best flat I have stayed in during numerous trips to London.
First I will say that the location is fantastic. Mayfair is one of the nicest areas of London, and this building is incredibly convenient for so many activities. You can easily walk to places like Buckingham Palace and theatre in the West End, but there is also the Green Park tube station a few blocks away.
The apartment itself is really perfect. It’s attractively furnished, comfortable and well-appointed in areas like the kitchen and bathroom. The half-bathroom in the hall was a fantastic plus. The full bathroom was excellent and large, and the bed was very comfortable. And there are huge closets for hanging clothes, storing cases, etc.
I should say that the apartment we stayed in was not exactly the one listed on HomeAway, but one 2 floors above it. The apartment shown here is unit 1 at 19 Clarges Street. London Connection, the US-based firm that owns or manages these apartments offers units on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd floors of this building. Only the one on the first floor is listed on HomeAway, but they put us in the 3rd floor unit. From the photos on the London Connection website, it looks like all 3 units are identical in layout, but just have different furniture. I can attest that unit 3 is very nicely furnished.
There was a bit of confusion before we arrived, in a few areas. First was the point above about being switched to a different apartment than what we had booked on HomeAway, which I only noticed because it had a different number than the one shown. Then having paid the 1st deposit through HomeAway, we got a bill directly from London Connection for the balance, which we paid, but we were told by HomeAway that we still owed the balance, until I asked London Connection to clear that up. Then we got an email from HomeAway just before leaving with an earlier arrival date than we had booked. I don’t know which of these issues had to do with HomeAway or London Connection, but they did raise some concerns. I’m delighted to report that once we arrived in London we were met by the local London Connection representative at the apartment at the right time, she gave us a great overview of the workings of the place, and as noted above, the apartment was absolutely fantastic in every way. It would be helpful if these administrative things were handled a bit better, but overall we had a wonderful stay in a wonderful apartment.
Our recent stay at the Clarges flat in Mayfair was most enjoyable. Everything about it was perfect. We lacked for nothing.
Upon arrival we were greeted by a representative of London Connection who made us welcome and comfortable and explained all about the unit.
The spotless flat was large and well appointed, the decor very nice, the bed comfortable, the kitchen well equipped and the sitting room very much used at the end of the day. Having two washrooms, an air conditioner and a lift were an added bonus. Location was great. We appreciated the proximity to the Underground, Shepherd Market and other restaurants, groceries, shopping, sights, banks, etc., etc., etc.
We wouldn’t hesitate staying here again should we return to London. This was our first time dealing with London Connection and we had a very good experience. Highly recommended!
A great apartment in a great location for a couple. The apartment is very modern and well appointed, and the living room is full of attractive and well-placed antiques. We were across the street from Tesco Express and within easy walking distance of many restaurants, including those in Shepherd’s Market, and we delighted in being in the living room when we got tired.
This is a great apartment. My husband and I have stayed in Mayfair over a dozen times, in a hotel or club, but staying in a flat in our favorite neighborhood is far more agreeable. We ate out almost every evening, but it was good to have the possibility of eating breakfast "at home" and the occasional snack. The appliances are modern, the antiques beautiful, the a.c. indispensable during August. I walked everywhere -- to the National Gallery, all my favorite haunts on Piccadilly (the crafts fair outside St. James's church, Fortnum & Mason), the stores on Regent and Bond. By choice, I'd only rent from London Connection vs. any other agency again. Booking (via telephone to Utah to ask questions, and then the internet), airport limo transport, housekeeping -- all grand. We had such a fine time that we've rented this apartment for two weeks next August and the one above it, same time frame, for our daughters.
This very satisfactory Mayfair flat is in an excellent location to explore central London. It is unequivocally one of the best neighborhoods in the city. A glance at the map confirms that virtually any important site for a visitor is within walking distance, and for those that are not, the Green Park tube station is two blocks away. The flat is one flight above ground, reached by stairs or private elevator, and although it sits on a corner right above a small Lebanese restaurant, it is quiet and largely isolated from street and traffic noise. There is generous room for two people. Recessed halogen fixtures provide excellent lighting. The bedroom with queen bed is comfortable; the adjacent bathroom has new fittings with a double shower fixture in a bathtub: overhead "rain" and a movable hand-held wand with a wall bracket. The controls for the shower are somewhat stiff, and the tub edge is high, so those with physical limitations might find them difficult. The washer/dryer is in a closet in the bathroom. It's new and works well, but the process is very long. A standard washing cycle takes nearly two hours, and adequate drying can take another three -- we ran it at night. An adjacent half-bath in the corridor is unexpected and convenient. The living area has a sofa, dining table, desk, and scattered antiques with an Asian flavor. Lots of daylight from the corner location. The kitchen has very good, new major appliances (refrigerator/freezer; excellent electric cooktop and oven; dishwasher) plus small electrics: microwave, blender, toaster, tea kettle, coffee maker. Kitchenware is currently sparse but functional, and we have suggested some simple additions to the local agency, London Connection, which would make it genuinely well-equipped. We had excellent service from London Connection -- they accommodated an early arrival and replaced a broken toaster within hours. We didn't use their driver service. Overall, we consider this flat a real gem, and would not hesitate for a moment to stay here again.
A flat in Mayfair between Curzon Street and Piccadilly/Green Park has to be perfect! And this one bedroom flat is just that–wonderful! Berkeley Square is two blocks away. Green Park and on toBuckingham Palace is just down the Street. The fabulous shops of Mayfair are just out the door. A wonderful walk would be down Clarges St to Piccadilly, through Green Park to Buckingham Palace and on through St James’s Park to the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, and Westminster Pier on the River Thames. Some of the best shops in London are in the neighborhood of this flat: Old Bond, Philip Mould on Dover Street, tie shops on Maddox Street, clothing on Saville Row, and the most fabulous jewels on Albermale Street and New Bond Street. GREEN PARK TUBE STATION is just and the end of the Road–on the Piccadilly Line, the most central line in London. It could not be better located. This wonderful flat is located on the first floor of a period building at the top of Clarges Street, just off Charles St and has easy access to all the amenities around Berkeley Square: groceries, banking, fine art shops, and excellent clubs and restaurants. My favorite Middle Eastern snack bar is just around the corner, and when I am hungry for spicy food, that’s where I go. This is one of the best neighborhoods of London.
