Hi, My name is Natalia. My parents built this house back in 1995. It has always been a great place to relax, get away, and enjoy the beauty of the ocean.
Natalia purchased this house in 1995
It seats in the closest beach from Managua (the capital city). Being just 45 minutes - 1 hour away, it is great for a day trip or a long vacation. This house has great privacy and views and is great for families with children, since it is all one level and very open. The house it large, fitting up to 15 people.
Situated on cliff which allows for a wonderful view of the ocean, total privacy, and a constant breeze.
U-shaped very open house surrounded by trees and a lush garden and with a horizon pool in the center.
We stayed at Natalia's beachfront house in mid April 2016. It is truly a wonderful place. From the moment we entered the front door with a view of the entire house, the pool and the ocean - we knew we had made a good choice. The house is large - we had 2 couples and 2 kids - each had their own bedroom and one was extra. The beds were very comfortable and the A/C in the rooms was a must.
The pool, hammocks, open-aired living room and kitchen provided lots of space to hang-out. The secure beach access made playing in the waves or walking on the beach easy. The fish market is a few minutes walk and the small village is accessible by the beach. Sand is nice and water temperature was perfect. There is not much in the village, so buy groceries before arriving.
Beyond the amazing house and location, the people helped make our stay memorable. Natalia was very helpful in answering our questions in preparation for arrival and met us on our first day. The cleaning/grounds staff (Oscar & Maria and family) were very polite and punctual. The cook (ask Natalia) Rosa and family was amazing. We ate typical dishes every day.
Overall we highly recommend this place. We would definately return for a great beach holiday. Thanks Natalia!
This property provides great outdoor living with private bedrooms / bathrooms. It is a beautiful home which offered us space for lounging around in rocking chairs, beach chairs, and a huge dining table for our great meals. The view and sound of the surf had us all relaxing and enjoying ourselves every minute we were there. The pool was refreshing when the surf was a rough a couple of days.
Our group had a wonderful time in Nicaragua with a wonderful place to call home, warm people, and visits to a local school, Cerro Negro and Isla Ometepe on Lake Nicaragua. Our caretakers were very helpful and worked hard to keep the house and property beautiful. Our cook was awesome and prepared local cuisine. Everyone was kind and patient as we had a hard time communicating (knowing very little Spanish); but always managed to understand what each was saying with a lot of laughs at our own attempts and sometimes using visual performances!
Thank you for sharing your home with us! It made for a wonderful trip with many great memories! We hope to return another time!!
Our family of 8 thoroughly enjoyed our 5 day stay at this lovely home. Plenty of bedrooms and an open living area made for an ideal vacation spot. Down the stairs is a friendly beach with a very gradual incline. We spent hours jumping the waves (grandma) or riding in the waves (teenagers). Than we would come back to our swimming pool and enjoy some pool play.
We were glad we brought our own food with us as there are few restaurants options and the one time we did eat out we found it to be very slow and not good value. Maybe just a bad choice. The kitchen was well equipped with dinnerware and cooking utensils. Having a caretaker on the grounds is an added plus to keep the grounds clean.
As we walked the beach we looked at other homes and were so happy with out choice.
I've traveled through Central America and Southeast Asia, and occasionally I've splurged and rented a nice place for a weekend (as opposed to Couch Surfing or hostels). This place was hands down the nicest beach house I've ever stayed at. I came down with a group of 8 friends and my reaction when I walked in was "Holy $%&#!" I felt like a king in what I kept referring to as my "private beach house resort."
Pool, hammocks, kitchen, more beds than we needed to accommodate 8 of us, 10 second walk to the beach (it's outside your backdoor), tree house, a few minute walk to restaurants and bars... it was awesome. Compared to other places I've stayed, the owners obviously put a lot of time and energy into landscaping the property. The landscaping is what made it feel like a private resort.
If I get to return to Nicaragua and want to show my friends or family a good time, I'd stay here again.
We had such an exceptional experience when we stayed here! The house was amazing and completely breath taking. There were 10 of us total and we had more then enough room. The house even came with a wonderful dog named poopa whom we all fell in love with! The care taker went above and beyond to help us get in to the near by town of San rafiel so we could go grocery shopping and even helped us out in the super market as our Spanish was seriously lacking . The owner was amazing with the millions of questions we had leading up to our trip and was never short or written with us. If you are planning a trip to nicaragua I strongly recommend this vacation rental. Every one of us loved it there. Especially the our nine year olds who would switch swimming in the pool to the ocean all the time! LOVED IT HERE!
This Masachapa Beach Estate owned by a Nicaraguan family is a wonderful place to kick up your feet and relax. The property is about 20 feet above sea-level on the beach with great views and sunsets. The landscape is professionally done with lush and tropical plants a perfect combination of sun and shade for those hot afternoons. Swim either in the Pacific or private pool. The home provides a large outdoor living space with plenty of sitting and lounging around with rockers, chairs and hammocks. Early in the morning walk to the local fish market on the beach at Masachapa town, you can’t miss it. We cooked, bbq dinner every night at the home. The property like most Nicaraguan properties is fenced in, parking provided and caretaker on property.
You can walk for miles either up or down the beach. At high tide the beach is about 10 to 20 feet wide at low tide the beach is over 200 feet wide. Either way you can walk to Masachapa town in under 5 minutes and to the beginning of Pochomil beach in 15 minutes. There are two steams to cross, usually only about a few inches to a foot deep otherwise use the bridge, at low and medium tide not a problem. Plenty of hotels and B&B’s along the Pochomil beach that provides restaurants and free WiFi…just walk up and ask. Masachapa/Pochomil is where the Nicaraguan families go for beach vacation but you will find a few Americans/Canadians/Europeans there and some of the hotels are operated by them.
Granada is about a 2 hour drive and so you can make a good day trip for it, do your research first. Nicaragua is an amazing country and this is a beautiful drive with wonderful views.
Travel Tips :-
Ask Your Host:
-Directions on the way out of Managua or Granada do all your food shopping at Le Colonial.
-The road to Masachapa is paved but most of the roads to the homes are not ask your host if you need a 4*4.
-There are many rural schools just a few miles outside of town for the farmer’s children, these children are very poor and the school barely have the basics so if you can bring toys, school supplies, etc.
=Download free GPS maps for your Garmin (openstreetmap) or smart phone (OsmAnd or Navigator).
=The Nicaraguan are extremely friendly and honest but the average pay is $1 to $5 a day so best not to put temptation in the way. Leave valuables at home, lock your bedroom doors, lock your suitcase, leave nothing in the car, do not walk on beaches and roads at night, stay away from non-light area's, use your common sense.
