About ERIC HARRELL
My wife and I have three children who love the outdoors. We spend as much time as we can at our cabin, fishing, hiking, boating, horseback riding, snow shoeing, hunting, site-seeing, swimming, golfing, and skiing. After 10 years there are still new adventures that we discover like the Intermittent Spring in Afton which is a short drive and easy, beautiful hike.
ERIC HARRELL purchased this Cabin in 2006
Why ERIC HARRELL chose Freedom
There is no other rental property that offers Blue Ribbon fishing from the privacy of your own property. You can walk out the front door and go fishing. We are close to all of the National Forests and Parks. This area has some of the best skiing and snowmobiling in the West. If Golf is your game there are multiple courses within minutes from the cabin.

Great secluded location, Helpful owner
We had a great time at the cabin. Our first night the power went out and Eric was prompt to get it resolved. The cabin is great and has a lot of open space around which makes for a really awesome, secluded location. We were a little confused by the lack of blankets within the cabin and it would be difficult to sleep 16 adults. We had 10 and it still was tight. Overall, we had a great experience and Eric was very easy to work with.
My family and I really enjoyed spending Christmas there. The cabin is great. It is beautiful, comfortable and offered amazing views. We enjoyed playing in the huge yard covered in snow and had the opportunity to spot a few bald eagles on the cottonwood trees in front of the house. We also appreciated that the driveway was plowed for us. I highly recommend this place for travelers wanting a relaxing experience.
I'm giving it 4 stars because I think a few minor things could be improved there. The chair cushions are a bit worn out and need to be replaced; perhaps the towels as well. The heaters upstairs were not working, and one of the rooms was a little too cold. Lastly and far less important, my dog's ball rolled under the furniture a few times and there was quite a lot of dust underneath them.
All in all, a GREAT vacation rental!!! Thank you Eric!
Beautiful secluded cabin close to everything.
This cabin was beautiful and sits alone for great privacy. Well equipped with the necessities and very comfortable. A short walk to the river front was an added bonus.
Perfect get away far from the madness.
The house and property were perfect for our family. It is a great location for those who want to escape the crowds. The property itself was better than described. Highly recommended. Thanks to the owners for opening up there lovely home to our family.
The perfect cabin for a fly fishing retreat
I'm actually a local girl and was looking for the perfect place to host 8 ladies for our 3rd annual fly fishing trip. Found this lovely cabin on Home Away and from the very start via communications with the owner I had the perfect experience. The home itself was just right for our trip and the girls were over the moon with our stay. 4 nights and 5 days secluded and bonding over our love of fly fishing in a pristine area with river access and comfy beds! The location of the cabin was ideal for us to travel to the different fisheries in the area and a perfect home base for retiring at night and making home cooked meals. The kitchen had everything we needed and then some. We loved the sunrises and sunsets from the deck and the cozey living area to share our fish stories upon retiring for the evenings. I can not say enough about the owner and his family making sure all of my questions were answered about the cabin and it's anmenities. Meals shared at the big dining table were a treat as well.
I highly suggest this cabin for multiple reasons. The beauty and raw western vibe are perfect for a family get together or a group of friends visiting the area. Rising fish nightly on the private stretch of water was the icing on the cake and if you fly fish, this is the perfect cabin for you! I've never slept so well in a place that wasn't my own. No nouse or light pollution with perfect views of the Milky Way and pristine Wyoming air.
Our first night we had a rainbow directly over the cabin and it set the tone for our entire stay here in heaven.
Thank you so much Eric and family for making your home available to us. We had a FINtastic time chasing trout and making memories to last a lifetime.
Clairey G and the BALA girls!
Two couples rented this cabin in the middle of August 2017. All four of us sat together to write this review. We hate to be he second to give Eric less than a five star rating but there are some items that need some updating. The kitchen and dining room in this cabin are large and spacious and the kitchen is stocked nicely. The living room is very small and has two worn love seats and one chair. More than four could not be in the living room at one time and there is no room for more furniture. The linens were old and some towels had holes in them.
We are Florida ranchers and condo owner/rental couples so we know the outdoors and rental business. It took our husbands two days to find the river due to the fact the grass and weeds were so high (up to their shoulders) and no notes to describe where the river was and no path. We drove around the first day but we were not sure we could go past the culvert in the car so the men went back the second day and walked the property through the weeds/grass to find the river. Very small area to fish from. Eric if you are paying someone to maintain the property they are not mowing down to the river.
Second, there was a mouse (dead) in the basement and we were overrun by large (green) flies. One day we swept up over 20 and two days later we swept up about a dozen. They were always in the living room and we would find them dead or on the way to being dead. Not sure what was going on there or that it was the owner's fault.
I feel the listing should state in BOLD LETTERS that there is no air conditioning. We had nice weather at night but we had a couple of days in the 80s and it was uncomfortable. We had to sleep with the windows open at night and the screech owl and skunk that visited made sleep hours less than desirable. Again, the owner cannot control the animals in the wild. The biggest reason I might think twice about renting again is how far it is from everything. An hour to Jackson Hole, hour and a half to Idaho Falls and two hours to Yellowstone. We spent an hour getting to anything we wanted to do and then had to drive another hour when we were ready to head home. We were told at the car rental station to be sure to buy any groceries before we left Jackson Hole. They were right with the exception of small incidentals can be purchased at little convenience type market.
Thank you, Eric, and I hope some of this will help.
