We (long term female friends) arrived at Tournesol on the 29th of August for a 2 week stay. The farmhouse was exactly as we had imagined. The location was unique....nestled in the town of Carlipa, population 300. We were able to walk down the street to the Boulangerie in the morning, to get our croissants and bread. On some evenings, we visited the "Cafe"/ bar which opened from 6-9pm. This was owned by Henri and his wife...very quaint little bar with WI-FI. To our delight, they also had the most wonderful dog called, Eclaire, who would greet us at the door of the cafe/bar. Our days were full. Using Tournesol as our home base, we set out daily visiting the many wonderful towns, restaurants and markets....such as Mirepois, Collioure(Spain border), the Medieval town of Carcassonne, Limoux, Bram, Pennautier and many more. We were able to find lovely, small, outside restaurants on the Canals or in the towns, that were delightful. The wine is so inexpensive and wonderful. We ventured out a few evenings for dinner. One memorable evening was to a vineyard called Domaine Gayda. It was delightful in all respects..location, view of the vineyards and the food .....It was delicious. We found that most evenings we spent in the well equipped, large, warm kitchen at Tournesol, whipping up delicious gourmet meals and enjoying the ambiance of the kitchen and the patio. The rest of the house was equally as beautiful. The bedrooms were large and well appointed. The owners of Tournesol were attentive and answered all questions quickly before and after our trip. This is a "home away from home" for anyone planning a trip to this part of France. It was certainly for all of us, a trip to remember. A large part of the success, we can, attribute to our stay in Carlipa at Tournesol. Pat, Carol, Anne.& Maureen.
