**Yes, the snow is beautiful and there's wonderful skiing opportunities nearby. However, winter conditions may also make travel difficult. Please be safe and consider using a 4WD vehicle and tire chains when traveling to the Boone area. Trip insurance is recommended.**

Enjoy a college game at Appalachian State. Drive the Blue Ridge Parkway and visit Grandfather Mountain or Linville Falls. You’ll love our log cabin because of the coziness, the high ceilings, and the outdoor space. Whether you're a couple, a solo adventurer, or a family you'll fall in love with Laurelwood. For families with young children we are now providing a high chair and a Graco Pack n Play with sheets for your convenience. Please note the upstairs loft bedrooms are open....see below for details.
Are your dates not available? Laurelwood is a popular cabin. However you may have success booking one of our other two cabins. Fernwood is a small cabin ideal for a couple or a single traveler just outside of Boone in Deep Gap, home of Doc Watson founder of Merlefest the bluegrass festival. It features a beautifully designed interior space with a curved staircase to the loft upstairs and a new gas fireplace. Search for Fernwood or send us a message for more info. Our newest cabin, Tanglewood, is now open for reservations. It is the closest cabin to downtown Boone. It can sleep up to 6 adults by reserving the main cabin plus the downstairs apartment. Tanglewood features a huge kitchen addition with a professional gas stove. The main cabin gives our guests a rustic feel yet with modern touches such as a comfortable new queen size bed, new gas fireplace and automatic heat control.
About the Space
Laurelwood is a beautiful log cabin with an open feel. The master bedroom with attached master bath is conveniently located downstairs and has a Sleep Number adjustable bed. If you're traveling with a little one there is a Graco Pack n Play in the master bedroom closet. The bedrooms upstairs are both open loft areas. The second bedroom has a queen bed, and a closet. The third bedroom has a set of twin bunk beds. The loft bedrooms are connected by a full shared bath. Downstairs the living area has a large 65" screen TV and streaming devices including Roku/Xbox One/Chromecast. Internet is high speed internet business class. A desk area is conveniently located in the living area. The kitchen has everything you'll need for dining in if you choose. There is a coffee/tea bar so no need to bring your own. If you're traveling with a little one we now offer a high chair for your convenience. All the typical small appliances (coffee maker, toaster, blender, hand mixer, small food processor) are included in the kitchen equipment and available for your use. The living room is open and seating is arranged to enjoy the fireplace and large screen TV. The love seat opens to a sofa bed. Outside, the gardens are for your enjoyment. Relax by the fire pit, soak in the hot tub, feed the birds or enjoy the waterfall pond.
The entire cabin and the landscaped gardens are yours to enjoy. You may want to enjoy the hammock or the fire pit at the rear of the property. The small pond waterfall feature is yours to enjoy off the back deck as well as the hot tub.

We generally won't be on hand to welcome you to your private getaway. However we will try to provide everything you will need to enjoy your stay. Located 10 minutes from either downtown Boone or Blowing Rock feel free to explore these towns. In winter be sure to visit Beech Mountain and Sugar Mountain to enjoy the winter sports. Sugar Mountain is 25 minutes from Laurelwood. In Boone you may want to watch a game at Appalachian State. Or just take a pleasant drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway any time of year.

Other Things to Note
Be careful of the weather. The privately maintained gravel road has a lot of curves and is narrow in spots and may become icy.
