This beautiful wooden house on stilts was built 30 years ago when Moorea was encircled by only a sand road and there were perhaps a dozen cars on the island. It has been renovated in 2007 and 2008. The wooden shingled roof is covered with white tin which, when you arrive from the sea, is hidden by the trees. Glass doors invite you to the sight-seeing of the beautiful gardens and lagoon from the living room. The paintings, furniture, decoration and Tahitian bed covers contribute to the warm mood of this house.
It is so welcoming that the islander part of yourself very quickly feels being a 'Tahitian' at home.
A big mahalo and mauruuru to Tepapa and Federic for making our annual family reunion one to remember and cherish. Our multi-generational family all had a wonderful, relaxing time there. With the wonderful open air living, deck lanai, private and spacious yard and ocean front location, we couldn't ask for more. THis is the perfect, leisure vacation site in all of Moorea. Too, the kayak and mini outrigger added hours of enjoyment in the early mornings and late hours of the day, especially for our grandchildren. Thank you, again!
A group of 6 of us just stayed in the Tahiti Beach House and we can't say enough about how wonderful it is. The lagoon just off the lawn is wonderful with lots of coral and fish. You can walk out pretty far without needing to worry about getting too deep. The kayak and outrigger canoe was wonderful to use and the large table and deck got a lot of use. We were on United States time so we ended up in bed early but got up before the sun and got to watch the sunrise and sunset everyday. The house has 3 bedrooms that are very adequate and 2 large bathrooms. One bedroom has air conditioning but the others got a good breeze if you left the windows and doors open. Each bed has netting to keep the bugs away. The house is open air and large enough for a group. The wooden walkway from the gate to the house is beautiful and having the washing machine was handy. We can't see enough about the home or the owner. In fact the owners brother helped us since she was away and he even took one of our group to the hospital for an xray and waited to bring them back. Unfort --she broke her arm in a fall but we can't thank Frederic enough for all of his help and care.
We highly recommend this house
After several previous trips to French Polynesia with stays in resorts, we decided to try a house rental for three weeks this August 2013. We read loads of reviews and selected the Tahiti Beach House crossing our fingers that it would be close to our expectations. And it was much, much more! First, it is a real home filled with interesting art pieces, books and a fully equipped kitchen. With six of us staying there we all had space to spread out to read, relax, cook, eat together, swim and snorkel. The lagoon there is quiet and stretches out to a beautiful reef in the distance. If you venture out you’ll see varieties of fish, rays and small sharks. The house comes with Tonga, one of the sweetest dogs any of us had ever met. He spends part of his day sitting in the water hoping to catch fish (which apparently has never happened). He has such a gentle nature and was a pleasure to share the house with. Our host, Tepapa, checked in on us periodically, answering any questions we had. She was very ready to share knowledge of her culture and community and we were so glad to also meet some of her very interesting family. She could give specific recommendations when we asked. One morning she called early to encourage us to get to the local fish market asap. Some fresh tuna had just come in and was likely to sell out fast. We raced over and selected the type she recommended. Then later that day she came and prepared it for us: a beautiful platter of sashimi and huge bowl of poisson cru (you can never eat too much of this!) Organizing food was easy with a small market across the street and another a few minutes by car. The largest supermarket is in Vaiare past the ferry dock. If we didn't want to cook, we'd find the Chicken Man roulotte for a wonderful chicken with rosemary potatoes! We could also cross the street and eat at Le Mahogany for very good lunch or dinner. But the best was to make a meal together, sit on the deck and watch the most exquisite sunsets over the lagoon. Moorea is a particularly beautiful island and invites you to enjoy yourself whether you like to be in the water, reading and relaxing on land or gazing out over the lagoon. It offers a pace and calm that is so appreciated and needed by many of us. After three weeks it becomes hard to leave but the experiences and images are so vivid that they become truly valued memories. It was great!
This property is beautiful and so spacious! We decided to spend xmas and new years in Moorea and this choice was a great one! we went swimming and snorkeling every day right outside our backdoor! Everything we needed was either in the home or very close to the property. Tepapa was so helpful and welcoming, anything we needed she was there to help! We explored the island and swam with the sharks and the rays! What a great way to spend the holidays. I would recommend this home for anyone who wants a relaxing and laid back vacation! Its nice to have great memories of a wonderful time! Thanks Tepapa!
Tahiti beach house is very convenient: at 2.5 miles from the airport, 5 miles from the dock. The trip to Pape'ete lasts 7 mn by plane, 30 mn by fast ferry, 1 hour by slow ferry. The house is also 1.2 mile from the golf course, 1.2 mile from the commercial center of Maharepa (doctors, drugstore, bank, fashion clothes, souvenirs... ). There are 35 snack shops and restaurants, galeries and shops, in a range of 3 miles. There's a grocery store and restaurants at a walking distance.
