About Alan - Owner
Pine Cone Cottage is a joint effort of two gentlemen. Both of us moved to California from different parts of the United States, but found our way to Big Bear. Each of us fell in love with the mountain lifestyle and with the community of Big Bear. One of us was a real estate instructor, and one was a top producing sales manager for a leading company of home products. Each of us loves this community and it is our sincere desire that you be able to experience the same joy while in Big Bear. Each of us is a "people person" and will do whatever we can to make sure your stay with us is a memorable one. Pictured here is the owner, Alan, and his lovable pup Minnie Pearl (minus the straw hat and price tag). You may just meet them at the front door of the cottage when you arrive. He (Alan, not Minnie) enjoys giving guest a short orientation, providing suggestions of where to dine and what to see while you are here. David, not pictured , acts as property manager, and will be the individual who helps you set up your reservation and will be your contact person if you have any questions about the cottage.
Alan - Owner purchased this cottage in 1991
Why Alan - Owner chose Sugarloaf
Even though this property was purchased some 27 years ago, this vacation rental did not even exist. First a carport and then a storage shed, it grew to be a guesthouse for family and friends. Now it is a four-room cottage with all the amenities you should need to be comfortable. The cottage is now filled with a fine collection of treasures gathered from trips throughout Europe, or discovered in corners of quaint local antique shops. The final result has impressed everyone who stayed in the cottage. Many of them have been so moved by the experience that they have added their glowing comments on the review page of this listing, making it a five-star rated VRBO property.
What makes this cottage unique
California is a unique state. Where else can you experience the ocean, the desert and the mountains all in one day. When you wish to choose the mountains to decompress from your fast paced life in Southern California, we want to be your choice for lodging. Pinecone Cottage is designed to be relaxing and even romantic (if need be). Don't hesitate to ask for any special requests or needs. If you want the cabin decorated for a special event, no problem. We have even put flowers and champagne ahead of arrivals, hung birthday banners and created cards for those celebrating their special day. It has been a retreat for couples celebrating anniversaries. There's even been a wedding or two in the large, private backyard. It is our desire that you be so happy with your stay with us that you will join the many others who have become returning guests.
