Excellent location in a quiet neighborhood near all attractions of boulder.
House met all all of my extended family's desires with a modern and visually interesting decor and atmosphere. A welcome respite after all the physical activity of the area.
Our family truly enjoyed our stay at your home. It was the perfect size for our group of 8 and had just about all we could need for preparing meals and hanging out together. We were in town for 5 days to celebrate a CU Boulder Graduation, and we got recommendations from Jewel for restaurants and places to go which were just right for our family! Two things not to be missed: 1) spectacular hiking (wow) from Chautauqua and, 2) one of the best aerial views of Boulder is at the spectacular NCAR! This research center is both entertaining and educational for ALL ages (super fun!).
We would highly recommend for a comfortable home with plenty of room for whatever activity you have planned. Thanks for the hospitality and for sharing your home with us!
A short and pleasant stay near Boulder
The home was spacious, clean, very comfortable and well designed; nice aura to it. Its only a 10 minute drive to the center of Boulder. Had we stayed longer we might have taken advantage of the outdoor space where there is a fully equipped BBQ and a Jacuzzi.
The hosts have provided all the necessary amenities for a pleasant and comfortable stay.
Definitely beats staying in a hotel!
Overall, no complaints.
lovely house to stay in for a week in boulder
The house had a really nice feel to it and there were lots of private spaces. The kitchen had a good layout so many people could be working in the space at once. The backyard was very private and lovely. But we were really disappointed in the fourth bedroom. It was very small and had an uncomfortable day bed in it. So our fourth person left all her belongings in the bedroom but slept with another person in the king size bed. We made it work but it was not ideal. Also the upstairs bedrooms got quite warm even with the air conditioner on. I would recommend this house to anybody who did not really need a fourth bedroom.
Thanks for a great review!
I'm so delighted to know you took advantage of the close proximity to the hiking trails and hiked from our house up to the mountains, that is such a plus for our location, not having to get in the car and drive to the trails!
In response to your comments regarding the 4th bedroom on the lower level which is 11' x 11' in size, yes, it is a smaller bedroom than the larger bedrooms upstairs.
The room has a "Design Within Reach" Sleeper Sofa in it, which won the Arhus Architecture Award in Denmark and converts into a king size bed. We make it super comfy by placing a 2 inch thick memory foam pad on top. When we have groups of 6 or more we automatically turn it into a king bed. We didn't know you required the larger bed, so it was set up as a single bed. We should have clarified this with you and its good feedback. I am sorry to hear you thought the bed was uncomfortable, we've never gotten that feedback before.
July is the hottest month in Boulder and while you were here it was in the upper 90's making it a challenge to keep it cool inside. There is an easy trick to cooling down the upper floor though using our evaporative cooling system. Turn on the ceiling fans throughout the house and crack the windows upstairs, the fans will pull the cool air upstairs. I apologize that wasn't clear in the house directions. It's good feedback, we will make sure to elaborate that in the future.
All the best, Gregg and Jewel Lauer
Lovely Boulder Home
Great neighborhood, nicely furnished, and confortable beds. Wine glasses and etc. are all there so you can dine in the home. Jewel was a very helpful and gracious host. We would not hesitate to stay here again! It's very close to the flatirons, and we enjoyed all the windows that made us feel less separated from the outside. We stayed a few weeks ago (June), and since there is no central A/C to cool the air in the bedrooms directly, (just one rather powerful wall unit in the living area), it's pretty much a given that you keep the windows cracked open in the bedrooms at night, and we very much enjoyed breathing in the fresh Colorado air indoors!
Note: The lower 2 bedrooms are divided by a floor-to ceiling Japanese-style frosted glass room divider panel, so do assign people who won't need sound privacy. In our case, we had one couple in the bedroom area to the right who did not mind at all, and a single friend on the king pull-out to the left. It all worked out well for us.
Wonderful location in the Flatiron foothills
The home was lovely. Jewel and Greg were wonderful to work with and very hospitable. The location was perfect and just a short drive from a couple of supermarkets. Easy access to downtown Boulder made it possible to go to the Pearl Street mall for shopping, exploring restaurants or for just an ice cream cone and an evening stroll.
Excellent hiking and biking trails, close to Rocky Mountain National Park, and Ski Mountains. Close to CU campus, the Pearl Street Mall, Boulder Farmer's Market, Dushanbe Tea House, Bodecker Theater, Eldorado Springs State Park, Chataqua Park and much more. Also 25 minutes from Downtown Denver.
