About the property

Standing out against the horizon, atop a rocky peninsula, surrounded by the blue Caribbean on three sides, is the visually stunning Honey Moon Cottage at Point Elizabeth . Watch whales, dolphins, and distant ships navigate the waters beyond the cliffs as crashing waves become a soothing vacation soundtrack. Point Elizabeth's two-person, 700 square foot cottage is an eastern island sentinel, and to stay there is to experience the true meaning of "getting away from it all."

The sun rises, white and majestic, out of the water that frames Point Elizabeth on all three sides; it sets over the western hills, glowing orange and equally visible from the porch. A small dipping pool offers the serenity that the active waters below do not, and though the cottage enjoys relative isolation from the rest of the world, it is but a short drive from calmer, more traditionally tropical beaches.

Cozy and studio-esque, the space itself is comfortably furnished and modern, built in 2010. High ceilings and vast windows belie the efficient space and welcome the cooling, salty, fresh ocean breeze. One and a half bathrooms and a gloriously comfortable queen bed, plus air conditioning, a fully equipped and sized kitchen, television, wifi, and even the added security of a locked gate are all part of the total amenity package at Point Elizabeth. For added luxury, consider opting for a grocery pre-stocking service through your Champagne Vacation Rental agent.

Total seclusion and utmost privacy are without a doubt among the shining qualities of Point Elizabeth cottage, though come in a distant second place to the spectacular 270-degree ocean view that the peninsula offers. When ready to venture out, one must only drive a few minutes to arrive at some of the best East End attractions like equally secluded Jack & Isaac's stunning white sand beach or the entertainment-rich Divi Resort and Casino. Fine dining at the Galleon or Duggans Reef is not much farther, and historic downtown Christiansted is just past the famous Buccaneer golf course a mere 20 minutes from the cottage.

Past vacationers have called Point Elizabeth an "idyllic spot," saying that it offers "all of the privacy you could ever want."

St. Croix offers three fairly drastically different environments, starting with the rocky east end which houses this cottage. Transitioning toward Christiansted to an archetypical tropical moderate mid-island with blooming flowered trees and plenty of iguanas, the island hustles-and-bustles with shopping, dining, and excursions like sailing trips and off-road exploring. On the west, a near-rainforest blossoms into rich, damp, utterly green life until it again opens to picturesque beaches and the types of sunsets that change lives.

Seclusion suits the vacation-minded, and Point Elizabeth offers it in abundance on its rocky peninsula. Book an idyllic respite today, and sleep soundly, knowing the only reason to get out of bed early is to witness the majesty of a white hot sun rising from beneath the watery ends of the earth.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Owner was very prompt in responding to all inquiries. Good communications on all aspects of making, confirming reservations, arrival instructions, greeting, and return of security deposit. You might not get the impression from the photos, but the cottage is the only home on Elizabeth Point. The privacy and seclusion of the Southside was exactly what we were looking for. While it is secluded, there was good security (a locked security gate at the driveway, deadbolt, and digital lock on the doors (for added peace of mind). The cottage was absolutely everything that was described and more. No photos can do justice to the absolute wonderful 270 degree ocean views. There was a constant breeze that made indoor and outdoor living completely comfortable without turning on the A/C except for sleeping. The cottage is impeccably appointed with everything you'll need to enjoy your stay. The pool is small, but with built in steps and seating (and absolute gorgeous views), we found it to be perfect for cooling off, enjoying the views, or just relaxing after a busy day. We were here for a week of retirement house hunting. We enjoyed the location and views so much that we changed our area of consideration from East End and North Side to this area.

Best spot on the island!

  • 5 of 5

If you have the opportunity to stay here, take it. It is absolutely incredible. My husband and I stayed for 7 nights and it was perfect from beginning to end. We came to St Croix to attend a wedding and to also celebrate our own (5th) anniversary; I am still not sure how I missed this place during my first attempts at finding a VRBO to stay for our visit but I am so happy we stumbled on this one. It is truely unique. Remote enough to be completely private but close enough to dining and shopping. No words or pictures can describe the exquisite views or the calming sound of the water below hitting the rocks. It's breathtaking. Not only the sunrise and sunsets, but go during a full moon and you'll find it hard to stop staring. Just beautiful. The cottage was clean and comfortable. Could not have asked for anything better!!!!

Beautiful location, with issues

  • 3 of 5

My husband and I spent a week at this Grassy Point cottage; and while there are many great aspects to it and the location, we also had some frustrating issues that prevented us from fully enjoying our stay--especially given the premium we paid for this rental.

1. Location: The view is every bit as spectacular as you'd expect, and the privacy of being the only lodging on the point is very nice. You feel very remote, but so much of what the island has to offer is within a 10-20 minute drive.

2. Furnishings: The cottage is beautifully appointed.

3. People: All of the people we encountered who do work on the property were extremely nice and helpful.

1. We had a number of fairly significant issues arise at the beginning of our stay, one of which could have easily been avoided (see advice below) and one of which was never resolved. I spent a lot of time and effort during my vacation trying to get these things resolved or simply get answers.

2. The tub/shower situation is not ideal, as you will get water all over the floor no matter what. There is a drain in the floor under the tub, but no amount of effort will get the pooled water to actually go into the drain. It was so bad that the water started creeping into the bedroom area. It's a LOT of water on the floor.

3. Contrary to the description above, which mentions beach chairs and an umbrella, we did not find any on the property.

1. Before you arrive, verify with management that the water cistern has a sufficient supply of water. We awoke to no water on our second morning, and we didn't have water until 5pm that evening.

2. Be prepared for the fact that you will have a sugar ant issue, even if you keep the windows closed.

3. The south shore of the island--especially on such an exposed point--can be very windy, so there is a good chance that you won't be able to enjoy the patio as much as you'd like.

4. There is a clothes washer in the cottage, but don't assume that it will be functioning.

Owner's Response: We agree Point Elizabeth is spectacular! We have never had a past guest (or the current in-house guest) report any issue with the shower, this was also not brought to our attention during the guests stay. The review comments are the first time this has been mentioned to us and we will be sure to have maintenance check to see if there is any type of problem. Guest's should refer to the amenities list for what is included in the home, beach chairs and umbrella are not listed in the amenities, although several beaches do have them available for rental. The cistern is checked weekly and with responsible water conservation (we are on an island water is precious) will not run out. If a guest happens to utilize all the water we send someone right away to refill, during the guest stay it was reported in the a.m that the water was out the guest stated they would be out for the day, we made sure upon returning water had been filled for them. Yes, we do share the island with critters! As long as you keep food put up this should not be an issue, the home is regularly treated. Although we wish we had control over mother nature we don't. It could very well be windy during a guests vacation or even rain! Washer, dryers and electronic items are tested prior to each guest arrival. That's not to say that sometimes things won't malfunction. The washer belt did break during the guest stay and a new one had to be ordered. What was not mentioned is that the washer and dryer were added after the guest booked. So they were a bonus to the reservation as they were not included in the amenities at the time the reservation was made. What was also not mentioned is after the belt broke we hand delivered towels etc. to the guest so that they would have fresh linens each day. We do our absolute best to insure all guest stays are free of any concerns. Should an issue arise we do everything we can to resolve. Every stay should be a 5 star ★★★★★ experience!
